9 August 2018 2018 Eisteddfod Sing! Sing! Sing! There certainly has been a lot of that happening within our school lately! Three of our sensational singing groups have been competing in the Sunshine Coast Junior Eisteddfod this week. Against some incredibly tough competition, each and every one of our singers performed outstandingly, and represented our school with pride! Our Year 3 Groovy Gals competed on Tuesday, and the adjudicator commented on their 'inspired and confident sound', their 'fun interactions with the conductor' and also 'how lovely to see so many enjoying their music'! With an amazing score of 86.5, our Groovy Gals achieved a Highly Commended placing. Nice one! Our Senior Beat Boys were next to perform on Wednesday. This group included our Year 4 Boys, as well as all the Year 5 & 6 boys who are involved in our school musical! They performed 'Peter Pan Sings' and it was no surprise that the adjudicator commented on their, 'energy that inspired wonderful singing phrases'. He also made comment about how fantastic they all looked - 'like a singing sports team' and although their score of 83 saw them just miss out on a placing, they were given a 'Special Honourable Mention' by the adjudicator. He thought it was fantastic to see so many boys working together like a team! Good job boys! Last to perform was our Senior Voices - made up of our Fabbo 4s, Fantastic 5s, and Year 6 Vocal Rock. The 60-voice choir were noted for their 'spirited singing', 'strong use of dynamics' and overall 'a great performance with so many engaged voices'. The competition was incredibly fierce in this section, and although missing out on a placing, our Senior Voices received an amazingly high score of 87! Awesome effort! Well done to each and every one of our Coolum Voices. You represented yourselves and your school with pride! Along with a few teary parents in the audience, you certainly gave this music teacher a serious case of goosebumps! Bravo! (Roz Mackay)

Eisteddfod - Verse Speaking Last Friday 3S performed two verse speaking items at the Sunshine Coast Junior Eisteddfod, held at Matthew Flinders Performance Centre. The children's performance was outstanding, scoring a total of 91 points. The adjudicator commented that the choir had very effective use of movement as well as very good use of pitch, pace, pause and facial and vocal expression. Thank you to the parents who helped out on the day and came to watch the performance. Congratulations 3S on a job well done. (Rita Stefanovic) Year 3S in action at the Eisteddfod Eisteddfod - Duologues Congratulations to Avara, Moses, Zeeta, and Mila for their incredible success at the Sunshine Coast Junior Drama Eisteddfod last Saturday. They performed brilliantly, each pair performing a scene from a play. Mila and Zeeta placed third and Moses and Avara placed second! You can see all of these students in our upcoming musical. Well done! (Jo Nix) Duologues

Prep 2019 Enrolment packages for Prep 2019 available now from the school office. Please spread the word amongst the community. (Karen Hatchman) News from 6W What's Happening In 6W! As usual, we are very busy at school with a variety of different activities that seem to make the days go very quickly. The 6W gang are, as always, working hard on their core subjects such as English, Maths & Science. Also many are also involved in a number of other activities, such as Rockband, Senior Voices, Cheerleading, District Sports and Peter Pan rehearsals, to name but a few. We also have a visiting artist, Mrs Brenda Roberton, conducting art workshops for the Year 6 classes and they are producing amazing results. We launch into a 3 week interschool sports program this Friday which involves a number of sports against Eumundi, Tewantin and two Coolum teams. The children certainly have lots to keep them engaged, they are an energetic, social and delightful group of children to work with and for that I thank you for your great work! Keep an eye out for their Technology project in which they plan, design and build a sustainable home, incorporating a range of environmentally friendly features which they are researching at school. Please feel free to contact me via the school if you have any concerns or questions. Can you believe it is almost the end of Week 4, Term 3 of your child's final year in primary school? Unbelievable!
