2019 Queen Tryouts The Sisters Rodeo Queen tryouts will be held at the Sisters Rodeo arena on Sunday, September 23rd 2018 at 1:00 p.m. There will be three judges for the tryouts. The public is invited to attend and refreshments will be served. The tryouts are open to young women who are ages 18 through 25 as of June 1 st. Entrants will be judged on horsemanship, personality/interviews and appearance. The girl chosen as Queen will receive a silver buckle and a wardrobe. She will also be awarded the Sally Leavitt Queen Scholarship of $1500.00 for her continued education. She will represent the Sisters Rodeo Association at rodeos throughout the state and will help other courts during our 79th Annual Sisters Rodeo. RULES FOR SISTERS RODEO ASSOCIATION REPRESENTATIVE PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS 1. Must have adequate time to devote to this position for the coming year. 2. Applicant must be single, have not been married and must not have children. 3. Applicant must be, as of June 1st, 18 to 25 years of age. 4. We encourage parents to take an active role in and support all applicants during the tryouts and in the coming year. HORSEMANSHIP REQUIREMENTS 1. Applicant must be a qualified rider and be willing to demonstrate that ability to the Sisters Rodeo Queen selection committee at the Queen tryouts. 2. Applicant must supply her own horse and equipment for tryouts and use the same horse for all the appearances during the year unless the horse is ill or injured. 3. Horse should load easily in two-horse or stock trailer for travel to appearances. 4. The horsemanship portion of the competition will consist of a designated pattern and flag run.(see attached copy). 5. Caution is emphasized at all times during the tryouts. The horse must be kept under control at all times. A slower, steady pace is preferred over a faster pace which might cause an accident. JUDGING REQUIREMENTS 1. The applicant is not required to wear a full dress suit for the tryouts since the Committee will be outfitting the Queen after she is chosen. Any neat, clean coordinated outfit will be acceptable whether it be dress pants, new jeans or chaps, a long sleeved shirt, boots and a hat. 2. Each applicant will be required to give an autobiographical speech before the Selection Committee and audience, as well as answer questions from the Committee prior to the horsemanship competition. Example of speech - Please tell us about yourself and your experience with the Sisters Rodeo in approx. two and one half minutes. 3. The Judging will be done by a Selected Committee. Guidelines are: 25 points for personality/interview, 25 points for appearance, and 50 points for horsemanship. 4. Application closing deadline will be Wednesday, Sept. 19th, 2018. Tryouts will be held Sunday, Sept. 23rd 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the Sisters Rodeo arena.

5. One (1) girl will be selected to reign during the coming year. Her title will be the Sisters PRCA Rodeo Queen for 2019. 6. The selected girl can be removed from the Queen position for any conduct or action not deemed suitable of a representative by the Sisters Rodeo Association Board. QUEEN RULES 1. The selected young lady is responsible for her own transportation and that of her horse to a designated meeting place prior to all appearances unless stated by a member of the Court Committee. 2. There will be no drinking, smoking or chewing of tobacco or foul language used by a representative at any time while they are representing the Sisters Rodeo. 3. The rules and decisions of the Court Adviser will be followed by the selected Queen. If a girl does not cooperate, the Advisor may recommend to the Board of Directors that the girl be removed from the position of Queen. SISTERS RODEO QUEEN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES AND BENEFITS You will be attending the following Rodeos. There may be others decided upon at a later date. You and a Sisters Rodeo Representative will make the decisions on all articles purchased. You will be paid $.50 cents per mile and a reasonable motel charge and food expense. You as Queen will represent the Sisters Rodeo Association throughout the state for the 2019 rodeo season. You will receive a wardrobe, a beautiful silver buckle and traveling expenses. You will also be awarded a $1,500.00 Sally Leavitt Queen s Scholarship for your continuing education. You will be given your ticket and three additional tickets for Box Seats to each performance to the Sisters Rodeo. Additional tickets will need to be purchased.

SISTERS RODEO ASSOCIATION QUEEN CONTESTANT WAIVER OF LIABILITY RELEASE FORM I,, have read the attached rules and regulations of the Sisters Rodeo Queen tryouts and wish to participate in these described activities in accordance with the stated rules and regulations. I/We hereby consent and agree that I make this entry and any appearances representing the Sisters Rodeo Association as Queen/contestant at my own risk. I further agree the Sisters Rodeo Association will not be held responsible for any loss of items, any damage and or injury, occurs from any cause to me, my horse, or my equipment, sustained or suffered while participating at the tryouts, neither I nor any member of my family will make a claim thereof. I further agree to indemnify the Sisters Rodeo grounds and the Sisters Rodeo Association against any legal proceedings for personal injury or property damage arising from any accident or incident which might occur. SISTERS RODEO QUEEN REQUIREMENTS It will be the responsibility of the presiding queen to turn in travel expenses on a monthly basis in order to be reimbursed by the Sisters Rodeo Association. Only John Leavitt can approve of any wearing of apparel, accessories, signs, and photos, stationary or other expenses. The Sisters Rodeo Queen may be asked to carry sponsor flags, push cattle or pack the American flag. She may be asked to attend luncheons and do interviews. She must be flexible on short notice appearances, especially the week of our rodeo. The Sisters Rodeo Queen must be self-insured at all times during her reign as Queen. She will be given a list of rodeos we would like her to attend by riding in the grand entry and or parade to represent the Sisters Rodeo. If the Queen travels to events that are not on the approved list, she must get prior approval from John Leavitt. Any travel to events that have not been approved will be at the Queen s own expense. SISTERS RODEO ASSOCIATION HORSEMANSHIP PATTERN Please no snaffle bits, must ride one handed (Start in front of the bucking chutes) 1. Run past center of arena and do a sliding stop. 2. Back up to center of arena. 3. Beginning on left lead, complete 2 circles to the left, the first one large and fast, then a slow smaller circle. 4. Continue back to center of arena, change to right lead making a large, fast circle, then a slow, smaller circle. 5. At center come to a stop and hesitate. Go straight ahead to the stands and start a run, around the arena to the left, past the chutes and continue completely around the arena, back past the chutes and stop at the gate (As you would for an introduction run in at a faster pace.) 6. Exit arena. 7. Pick up a flag from the rodeo personnel - do a flag presentation, as you would when doing the National Anthem. 8. Place flag back with rodeo personnel 9. Exit arena
