About SGCCC The South Georgia Classic Car Club was founded in April, 1984 as a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the restoration, preservation, and enjoyment of special interest automobiles. The Driver s Seat is the official publication of the SGCCC. It is printed, published, and distributed during the last week of each month to all club members. Box 403, Valdosta, GA 31603, or e -mail to: sgccc84@gmail.com Your Officers President: Geoff Hardy 1st Vice President: David Boyd 2nd Vice President: Walt Prettyman Secretary: Bob Raffaele Treasurer: Donna Roberson Chaplain: Paul Worth Driver s Seat Editor: David Boyd Information Director: Tracy Cosper Car Care Tidbits Have you ever thought about the proper way to dry your car? Sounds silly, right? You say well uh, uh you just drag the towel across the paint until it s dry. Right? Yeah, that s right. For those of you who care about your paint s finish and want it to look right, read on. There are a few no-no s in drying your paint s surface that you should be aware of. Never bear down hard with your towel when drying off your car, and CERTAINLY don t use your towel for cleaning areas you missed when washing your car. This will only cause you to inflict further scratches in the paint. Pay attention to the type towels you are purchasing as this can make a major difference in the outcome of your labor. BEWARE of cheap, polyester towels. Their fibers are course and contribute to swirl marks. Always look for the finest micro fiber towels available that are paint safe. Until next time keep it squeaky clean and ready to show. - contributed by Logan Birdsong

Minutes September 4, 2018 Meeting: Club President Geoff Hardy opened the September meeting at Austin s Cattle Company at 6:45 pm. The opening prayer was led by Paul Worth. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all present. There were 26 members in attendance. Minutes: The August minutes were read by club Secretary Bob Raffaele and were approved as read. Treasurer s Report: Donna Roberson presented the August report and it was approved by those present. Old Business: Donna Roberson reported that 18 members enjoyed the recent Drive & Dine to the 406 on Duval restaurant. New Business: Geoff mentioned the difficulty of finding a source for the babymoon hubcaps used as trophies in the upcoming Fall Classic Show. After some additional searching a source was finally found and an order for the 28 hubcaps was placed. The issue of locating someone to letter the trophies was solved when club member Al Nix volunteered the services of his graphics company. Nominations are needed for club Officer positions for the upcoming year. Anyone interested should contact either Dan Bremer or Logan Birdsong with their intentions. Fall weather is finally here, after what seemed like a long, hot, humid summer. Fall colors are all around, pumpkin patches appearing around the area, high school and college football games every weekend, and a lot of car shows and cruise-ins every week. The 35th Annual Fall Classic Car & Truck Show is only a month away, and much planning and work have already been done in preparation. We need all members to be participating in some fashion. Many have already volunteered for many of the tasks that are required to nave a successful show. Even if you have not volunteered or been assigned some task with the show, you can volunteer at the October club meeting or just show up early on Saturday, November 3, and we ll find something for you to do. We are still looking for reports of some of your experiences this summer or storied about one of your first cars. Send these to email:// editor@sgccc.org, Election of club officers is coming up. Some of you need to step up and take a leadership role in the club. We have made great progress the last couple of years under the current leadership, and we need to keep the ball rolling! Speak with Logan Birdsong or Dan Bremer about the position you would interested in taking on. There are no long drawn-out campaigns, just an election. Looking forward to seeing you at the club meeting on October 2. Happy Cruising! - David Boyd, editor
