Basketball Tournament February 26 th & February 27 th 2011 Hays, KS Gym Directions All directions are based on a starting point of where I-70 intersects Vine Street on the north edgeof Hays by Applebee s. Hays High School Gym A and Gym B 2300 East 13 th Go 1.8 miles south on Vine Street. You will go through 8 stoplights including the two at the Vine street I-70 intersection. At the corner of 13 th street and Vine street (Kwik Shop, Burger King, Subway) turn left and go 1 mile east to the intersection of Canterbury and 13 th street (the first stop light you will meet). You wil see a Casey s store on the left side of the street. Go forward 2 blocks; the school is on the right side of the street. Go in the first entrance and enter through the south side gym door only. Hays Recreation Gyms 1,2,3 (HRC1, HRC2, HRC3) 1105 Canterbury Drive Go 1.8 miles south on Vine Street. You will go through 8 stoplights including the two at the Vine street I-70 intersection. At the corner of 13 th street and Vine street (Kwik Shop, Burger King, Subway) turn left and go 1 mile to the intersection of Canterbury and 13 th street (the first stop light you will meet). You wil see a Casey s store on the left sideof the street. Turn right for 2 blocks, the complex is on the right side of the street. Enter through the east or west side gym doors. Felten Middle School 29 th and Fort Street Go.8 miles south on Vine Street. You will go through 5 stoplights including the two at the Vine street I-70 intersection. At the corner of 27 th street and Vine street (Cerv s Conoco, Wal-Greens) turn right and go to the first stoplight (27 th street and Fort street). Turn right on Fort Street and go 2 blocks north to 29 th street. Turn left and enter the school through the west side parking lot.
Mid America Youth Basketball Hays City Little Shootout Winter Tournament Regulations & Guidelines 1. All teams are guaranteed a minimum of 3 scheduled games. When possible, teams will be abilitygrouped after pool play and brackets will be played out. 2. Regulation High School Activities Association rules will be followed with the following exceptions: a. 20 minute running clock except for the last 2 minutes of each half, unless one team is ahead by more than 15 points. In addition, the clock will stop on all technical fouls. Clock does not restart until it would in a normal dead ball situation. b. 4 th 6 th boys wil use girl s size bal. 7 th grade boys will use the ball size of the state they are playing in. 8 th grade boys and above wil use the men s bal. c. 5-minute half time and 5 minute pre-game warm-up. d. Game time is forfeit time. e. Jerseys need only have a number on the back with no number restrictions. f. 4 time-outs per game, no 20-second time-outs. g. In the 3 rd and 4 th Grade Boys Division NO full court press rule will be in affect once a team is ahead by 16 or more points for the team that is ahead. 3. No locker rooms, bals & etc wil be provided by the schools. 4. Individual awards for 1 st, 2 nd & 3 rd place (if possible) in each age group. 5. Players may play on only 1 team within a tournament age group. Player s eligibility will be checked by a curent grade card, if requested. Players may play up in an older age group. This could mean a player plays in the 5 th grade tournament and in the 6 th grade tournament. But they cannot play on 2 teams in the same 6 th grade tournament. 6. Inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated!!! A referee may remove players from the game or tournament for inappropriate behavior. We are here for the kids. Do not allow or condone poor sportsmanship. This includes coaches and parents!!! 7. Referee may stop clock within reason. Intentionally wasting time to shorten the game can be punished by a technical foul. This does not mean a team cannot use a delay offense at anytime they choose. 8. Each tournament site will have a supervisor. Please direct all questions, comments, or concerns to this individual. 9. No food or drinks are allowed in tournament facilities, unless noted otherwise. 10. Tiebreaker procedure is as follows. 1 st criteria is head to head competition. If a 3 way tie exists and there is no head to head winner. 2 nd criteria is margin of victory up to a 15-point max per game will be used to determine seeding against all opponents played. 3 rd criteria is a coin flip. This will be used for seeding purposes and in round robin play with no bracket play. 11. Overtimes will be 2 minutes in length with regular clock operation. The clock stops on all dead balls. 1 additional time-out for each overtime. 12. All roster changes should be made to the National Office in writing at least 48 hours before the start of the tournament. The roster you list in your scorebook for the first game of each tournament is your roster for the weekend. Make sure to include on this list any player who for any reason is not playing the first game, but intends to play following games. 13. The clock operator and score keeper will be provided for each game by Hays High School Student Athletes. 14. Our first and primary goal remains to give all players maximum court time to improve their game in a competitive setting.
