Flag Football Flag Football The Windsor Flag Football league s focus is to teach fundamentals of football in a team setting. Each age group will be split into two different divisions of Draft or Open (if overall registration numbers allow). In both divisions, participants will learn football fundamentals with the exception of tackling or blocking (non-contact league) with an emphasis of equal participation and winning being secondary. Teams play 5 vs. 5 and are scheduled for six games with an end-of-season playoff if scheduling constraints permit. Draft Division Players attend an assessment date. Players will be assessed on basic football skills and athleticism, and will be placed on teams according to skill level and grade with team parity as the main goal. No requests can be made for practice location, practice day/time, or a specific coach. Teams are selected by the coaches with a player draft after the assessment. Open Division The Open Division is made up of teams with kids who want to play together as a team. To register for this division it is highly recommend you have already been contacted by a coach prior to registration. Players in this league do not go through the assessment process. Individual players registered in the Open Division and not assigned to a team will be moved to the Draft Division. Coaches Wanted This program relies on parent volunteers to coach. It s sad when kids miss out on the action because of a coaching shortage. Please contact us if you are willing to coach. Coaches pick their own practice schedule that accommodates their schedules. Call 970-674-3515 for more information. Draft Division Assessments Draft Division teams are formed through the player assessment process in an effort to create balanced teams. Players and coaches in the Draft Division should attend the assessment day to be assigned to a team. Assessments will be held at Chimney Park at 5:30 p.m. on the following dates: Grade K - 1: Monday, March 11 Grade 2-3: Tuesday, March 12 Grades 4-5 and 6-8: Wednesday, March 13 Requests Draft Division coaches select their team through the assessment process; therefore, requests cannot be guaranteed for a child to be placed on a specific team, with a specific coach, on a specific practice day, or with another player. If you need a specific request, become a coach and enter your team in the Open Division. Practices Practices begin the week of March 18, one hour each, two times per week. After assessments, a coach will contact you with your practice schedule. Practices can occur between 4:30-7 p.m. Monday through Friday at the coach s discretion. 64
