The Braves have won eight of their last nine games, 16 of their last 25 and 20 of their last 33 (since August 21)...The stretch includes winning their last three at home and a recently-completed 5-1 road trip to New York (3-0) and Miami (2-1). Atlanta posted a 7-6 come-from-behind decision over Philly last night, after trailing 6-0 in the second inning...it was Atlanta s 34th comeback win of the season and its 18th win in its final at-bat (tied for the NL lead with Los Angeles and San Francisco). The Braves play the last five games of the season and the final five games at Turner Field this week, with a pair of three-game series against Philadelphia (1-0) and Detroit. FLOWERS BLOSSOMS: C Tyler Flowers went 2-for-4 with a homer (#8), double and three RBI in last night s win...twenty-six of his last 57 hits (18 doubles, 8 home runs) have gone for extra bases. Flowers is hitting.302 (29-for-96) with nine 2B, 19 RBI and a.391 OBP in 27 games since returning from the DL on 8/18...He has safely in 11 of his last 13 starts (since 9/6). FREEMAN EARNS NL HONOR: 1B Freddie Freeman was named Monday as the National League Player of the Week for Sept. 19-25...In six games, Freeman hit.500 (11-for-22) with a.593 OBP and a.909 SLG % while leading the club to a 5-1 record...the honor was his third this season and the fifth of his career. SECOND-HALF HIT MAN: OF Ender Inciarte went hitless last night, but since the All-Star break, he ranks second in the majors with 97 hits and is T2nd (with Freddie Freeman) with 56 runs scored He is nine hits shy of tying the Atlanta-era record for most hits after the All-Star break, held by Terry Pendleton (106 in 1991). KEMP S IMPACT: Matt Kemp has played in all 51 games for the Braves since joining the lineup on August 2 and has hit.286 (56-for-196) with 10 home runs and 35 RBI...Five of those homers have either tied the game or given Atlanta a lead. Since Kemp joined the lineup, the Braves have scored 264 runs (5.2 per game) and have hit.280 as a team...they rank third in the majors in runs per game and fourth in team batting avg. in that stretch. This is Kemp s second straight 100-RBI season and the fourth of his career. FREEMAN SURPASSES 80: Freddie Freeman s homer last night gave him 82 extra-base hits, which leads the NL and ranks T2nd in the majors...his 355 XBH since the 2011 season are the third most in the NL. Freeman is only the second player in Atlanta history (since 1966) to tally 80 extra-base hits in a season... Chipper Jones established the Atlanta record with 87 during his NL MVP season of 1999. Freeman s streak is the longest by a Braves player since Gary Sheffield established the Atlanta on-base streak record at 52 games in 2002. 29-GAME STREAK: Freddie Freeman enters tonight s contest with a career-high 29-game hitting streak...the run is the longest active hitting streak in the majors and is the longest by a Brave since Dan Uggla hit safely in 33 straight games in 2011.
