The Organizing Authorities and hosts are Nyack Boat Club and Sonar Fleet #23. (www.nyackboatclub.org) 1.2. The regatta is a Sonar Class Association sanctioned event. 1.3. The regatta will be governed by The Racing Rules of Sailing. 1.4 All boats shall be afloat on Saturday, May 15 by 1100 and shall not be hauled during the regatta except with the prior approval of the Organizing Authority. 2. Eligibility & Entry: 2.1. The event is open to all competitors who meet the Sonar Class Association eligibility requirements (Article 12.00). 2.3. Fees: 3.1. The entry fee is $175 per boat. The entry fee covers trophies, two (2) days of racing, dinner/party social events on Saturday and Sunday for four (4) persons, t-shirts, and applicable taxes. 3.2. Sailing Instructions: The Sailing Instructions will be available at Registration. 6. Measurement: Boats may be checked for compliance with Class Rules at random and without notice. All sails not previously measured at a Class sanctioned event may be measured. 7. Racing Area: The racing area will be the in the Hudson River, north of the Tappan Zee Bridge. 8. Series: 8.1 At all sanctioned events, the Low Point Scoring System shall apply. 8.2 The minimum number completed races for a sanctioned event shall be three. 8.3 The minimum number of races to be scored before a throw-out is awarded shall be six. 9. Scoring: The Low-Point scoring system, Appendix A of the RRS, will apply, as changed by the Sailing Instructions. 10. Radio Communications: The race committee will monitor VHF channel 72 for emergency transmissions. The race committee may also be using VHF channel 72 for working communications, and may employ an open mike policy. A boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats, except for emergencies. This restriction also applies to cellular telephones and other electronic devices. Boats may monitor VHF channel 72, but are advised that any race committee communications are unofficial, and made either for race management purposes or as a courtesy to the competitors. As such, the race committee s use, or lack thereof, of radio communications shall not be grounds for redress. 11. Awards: Trophies will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers. 12. All boats will be moored during the Regatta in the Nyack Boat Club mooring field. Competitors should bring line able to serve as a pennant(s). Arrangements can be made via the Regatta Chair to store boats at the Boat Club for the week prior to the regatta to facilitate launching on Friday. Trailers will be stored either on Club grounds or in a locked facility nearby.
