Team members will sit behind each other, in linear format with eyes facing forward. No other seating formats are acceptable. QUESTIONS Questions are privately prepared and sealed by a representative from another congregation. New questions will be read for each round (half). Once a question has been read in a round (half), it will no longer be used. All questions will come from the book of MARK & JOHN. No questions or study materials will be sent to participants. The approved bible version to be used for competition is the KING JAMES VERSION. All questions will be randomly selected by the moderator All questions will be multiple choice A, B, C, or D Each question will be read twice Each team member will have a set of individual cards marked A, B, C, and D. Once the question is read and time is called, the team members will each raise the card they believe to be the correct answer.
SCORING/ROUNDS A. Each question will have a value of five points per team member, per question, per correct answer. There is no penalty for incorrect answers. B. BONUS POINTS HAVE A VALUE OF FIVE (5) ADDITIONAL POINTS, etc. To receive bonus points for each question, ALL team members must answer correctly. An additional 5 points will be added to the total for that question. If all four team members answer correctly, the total for the team is 20 points plus the 5 bonus points total of 25 points. Once the question is read, the timekeeper will say time. At this point, the contestants should raise the cards with their answers. COMPETITION All competing teams will participate in two separate halves. The teams will be given a rest period of 5 minutes between halves. At the end of the second half, the scores from the first half and second half will be added together to come up with a final score for each team. The team with the highest final score will be the champion. First, second and third place trophies will be awarded. In the event of a tie, one question will be asked to one of the three team members per team. The team will be able to select one person to answer the tiebreaker question. This may change depending upon time and other unforeseen circumstances. COACHES AND SCORE KEEPERS Each team must have one adult coach. Each team will be assigned a scorekeeper. The scorekeeper and coach will sit side by side in front of their respective team. The scorekeeper and coach will both keep the score of their respective team to ensure that the scores are added correctly.
If the scorekeeper and coach have a discrepancy with the scoring of a particular question, they must notify the moderator immediately by saying, stop. If the moderator has completed the next question, then the right to protest is lost, and the scorekeeper s score will serve as the official score. CONDUCT It is hoped that each congregation present will have representation and lots of supporters. While teams are in competition, supporters are encouraged not to cheer for their teams by applause. The following conduct will not be accepted: o Hollering o Whistling o Stomping of feet o Calling out answers o Passing silent signals indicating answers If the supporters of a team persist in the unwanted conduct, their team will be penalized two points. A warning will be given to the supporters. Should the behavior persist, the person(s) will be escorted out. It is hoped that all teams and their supporters will be honorable and appropriate during and after the competition.
