ISSUE 3 JULY 2016 Newsletter proudly supported by Finance & Insurance made easy PMTC Newsletter Hi all, Welcome to the July edition of our Newsletter. Firstly, thanks to Mick Maher for putting this together, as Paul is away...a holiday apparently! Well we had a few brave souls to our first race of the Midcoast Windows duathlon series which was FREEZING! Coming from the North of England you'd have thought I could cope with a cold snap... Well NO! I didn't thaw out for 4 hours afterwards. Anyway, RACE TWO is the 31st July so look forward to seeing a few more of you there, and the mystery distance will be revealed then too. Remember to contact Rachel Sanderson if you can volunteer for that one. Also don't forget to let us know if you can or are RTA trained, as no officer on duty means NO RACE. Happy training and all the best. David Page 1 of 6

In June, many of our members competed at the SWR Running Festival, in the 5km, 10km, 21.1km or 42.2km distance. In amongst these tremendous people were some of our junior athletes. We often hear or see, via Facebook or Strava how our adult members went during their race, but we infrequently hear about the juniors the future of our club. So for this month, we asked 12 year old junior club member, Liana Williams, to give us a run-down of her SWR experience. Liana Williams: Race Report for SWR 5km The day was cold and it seemed everyone was excited for their race ahead. I was so excited for my 5k race and I was lucky to watch all the other runners start their big race. I was standing in the starting area when the Official counted 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 before the horn went off! We had to race out towards town and I was 3 rd female chasing down the two others in front of me. As we were close to the turnaround point and I was now 2 nd female. We had a big climb on the way back and 1 st place female was just ahead. I was pulling her in; she was in my sight. I finally overtook her! Now, I was just ahead and as we came to the last 300m I was still in front. I knew the finish was going to be close; we went over the finishing line and I held her off to take 1 st place in a time of 20.04mins. This was a 5km personal best for me. I was so happy with my finish and my race. 1 st female and 6 th overall in the 5km event; it was a great race. What a great day by all runners! Liana Williams Robert Johnston has just purchased a Pro Clincher Disc Wheel, however, it is not compatible with a Trek Speed Concept. He is selling the wheel as set out below: It's unused even though it's a couple of years old (came off a new bike but they didn't want a disc). It's 10-speed only. Not sure if it can be converted to 11-speed (best to check with a shop). Just want my money back, so $500 with wheel bag and skewer, or $600 as is with brand new tyre & tube and used Dura-Ace cassette. Price is firm as it s already an amazing deal.
