Cycling policy
Cycling is a main issue Health Climate change E-bike is a hot issue A good alternative for commuter car traffic Recreational cycling (long distance, sunday afternoon) Cycling is a fast way of transport (< 15km)
Cycling policy Objectives to be reached in 2020 growth of the use of cycling (increase of the modal split) reduction of death (47%) and heavy injured (34%) moped and cyclists (2020 2002)
Subgoals High Quality Cycle Routes (Fietsroute Plus) The bike intensity on a high quality cycle route (Fietsroute Plus) must be at least 15% increase in 2020 The average user must give at least an 8 after completion of the Fietsroute Plus Bike safety: the number of serious casualties has to reduce in 3 years time to 50% compared to a period of three years earlier
Subgoals All other cycleroutes At all other provincial bicycle routes, the use in 2020 must be at least equal to the intensity cycling in 2010 Increase the number of journeys made by bicycle in the province of Groningen in the pre-or post-transport by car or public transport (chain mobility)

Fietsroute Plus Infrastructure
Infrastructure What is a Fietsroute Plus? Coherence - signalling - bundling functions Immediacy - maximum detour factor 1.2 - design speed 30 km / h - guarantee flow crossing junctions
Infrastructure Attractiveness - berm width between 6 and 3 m. - protection against wind and rain - implementing cyclepath in landscaping - social safety
Infrastructure Safety - lighting - width cyclepath: 2,5m (1-direction); 3,0m or 3,5m (2-direction) - moped on the carriageway - line marking - recognizable design junctions - cyclists and roundabouts
Infrastructure Comfort - asphalt, concrete - hiding place - protection against wind - social safety

Conclusion
Conclusion Co-operation between regional and local governments is very important More efficient (time is money) Working together to reach the same opportunities Win-win situation (achieve more with the same money) Political commitment is a crucial factor!
Conclusion Cycling is hot! Positive attention towards environment/climate Positive attention towards heath/obesitas Boost of the e-bike Now is the time to invest!
