Dig Deep - Peak Trails 30 25th August 2018 30 miles/1388 metres ascent (aprox) The information contained in this document is essential event information. The individual event will hold six categories; Senior Male, Senior Female, Veteran Male and Veteran Female, Male over 50 and Female over 50. (Veteran = over 40) The Dig Deep Peak Trails 30 (formerly known as the intro ultra ) covers some of the most beautiful scenery in the UK. At around 30 miles the route takes in some of the finest trails in the Peak District. The route has roughly 1388 metres of ascent and whilst there are no monster climbs the continued hilly nature of the course earmarks this race as a tough one to complete. However, the distance falls just within the ULTRA category so if you are after your first ULTRA scalp this could be the one The Route The route has been chosen because of its stunning scenery and the tough nature of the route. Whilst developing the race we have worked closely with local landowners and the Peak District National Park Authority to ensure that the race is sustainable and avoids sensitive areas. For this reason there are some strict route restrictions in place on some areas of the race. Please follow these wherever indicated. The route will be partially marked but navigation may be necessary. Sport ident dibbing stations will be in place along the route each of these must be visited.
The race will part of a festival of running to be held at Whirlow Farm Hall in Sheffield (camping available). As well as the 30 mile race there will be several other races starting and finishing over the weekend. Registration: From 3 pm to 6pm and then 8pm to 10pm on the 24th August. 25th August 6.30am to 7.30am (emergency registration only). Please note that we would prefer for everyone to register the evening before however, registration can be organised on the morning of the event. Briefing: 7.40am Start: 8.00 am race starts Each competitor needs to have pre booked. Booking is available online. You will receive your race number at registration. Who can take part? We have a minimum age of 18 but no maximum ages. What facilities will there be? We will have food and drinks on site along with toilets and changing facilities. Race Rules Participants must follow the route as defined by the course map/course laid out. Participants must carry all of the mandatory kit at all times (except head torches which may be left at the Bradwell Checkpoint) Penalties can be overruled if there has been known tampering/improper removal of the dibber at unmanned checkpoints. Race penalties will not be altered at any point post-race based on GPS tracks/anecdotal evidence etc Every dibbing point must be visited. Each point holds a penalty for missing it (see below). Pace runners are not allowed Poles are allowed Dibbing Penalties If 2 checkpoints are missed in a row then the participant will receive a further 1 hour penalty.
