West Broadway Bridge over Passaic River NS9709 NS9709 This project will provide for the rehabilitation of the existing bridge. The rehabilitation will include the construction of a reinforced concrete relief arch over the top of the existing arch spans for increased structural capacity, repairs to the existing arch, construction of new roadway pavement, sidewalks and pedestrian and vehicular railing. The Federal FY 2003 Section 330 Demonstration program provided funding in the amount of $350,000. 3 Passaic River Crossing 799 799 This project will provide for safety and operational improvements from west of the Route 17 interchange in Lyndhurst to east of the Main Avenue interchange in Clifton. Improvements include the replacement of eight structures (Route 3 over Passaic River, Route 3 over NJ TRANSIT, Route 3 over Lower Pond, Route 3 over River Road, Route 3 over Route 21 ramps, Park Avenue over Route 3, Ridge Road over Route 3, and Orient Way over Route 3), addition of a 12-foot auxiliary lane eastbound and westbound to alleviate the congestion experienced through the corridor during peak periods, specifically at the ramp merge points and the Passaic River Crossing. In addition to the auxiliary lanes, standard acceleration and deceleration lanes will be provided to safely transition vehicles to and from the highway. The existing roadway is a limited-access urban freeway/expressway and does not contain special provisions for bicycle and pedestrian compatibility; the project does not change the existing conditions. This is a multi-year funded project under the provisions of Section 13 of P.L. 1995, c.108. Total design cost is $10,706,000. The federal Transportation Equity Act for the 21st Century (TEA-21) provided funding for this project under Section 1601, High Priority Projects Program. The Act allocated $24.380 M for the Riverview Drive, Van Houten Avenue, and Union Boulevard projects. FY 2000 and FY2001 RABAs have increased the total authorization amount to $25,106,902. The project consists of segments of noise barriers. The total length of the barrier will be approximately 17,000 feet. This is a multi-year funded project under the provisions of Section 13 of P.L. 1995, c.108. Total construction cost is anticipated to be $11,500,000. 80 20 Paterson Interchange Improvements 93114B 93114B This project will provide for the extension of a concrete island and restriping along Market Street to prevent weaving; the closure of Ramp C to eliminate an unsafe grade crossing; extension of the existing acceleration lane for the Route 20 northbound entrance ramp (Ramp N); relocation of the physical nose between the Route 20 northbound exit ramp (Ramp N) and Ramp K to increase the weaving distance to the split of Ramp B and Market Street eastbound (Ramp O); removal of trees and relocation of fence and utility poles near the northeast corner of the cemetery to improve horizontal curve stopping sight distance at this location; improvements to interchange signing along I-80 from Madison Avenue to River Drive and along Route 20 from 21st Avenue to Ramp K loop ramp. Other miscellaneous improvements will include the reconstruction of 21st Avenue where it intersects Route 20 and East 42nd Street where it intersects with Market Street Extension, to provide "Right Turn In Only" movements, resurfacing and restriping of the interchange ramps as required, replacement of deteriorated curbing where necessary and the upgrade of guiderail systems to current standards. The Federal FY 2003 Interstate Maintenance Discretionary program provided funding of $200,000, and the Section 330 Demonstration program provided funding in the amount of $400,000.
