Discovery Bay Beach Festival 2015 International Coastal Rowing Beach Sprints 2. General Information 2.1. Introduction We would like to thank you for supporting our event and are pleased to welcome you to our competition on Sunday 29th November 2015. This is the first Beach Rowing Sprint event held at Discovery Bay and the new format will follow the concept introduced by the International Rowing Federation (FISA) for Beach Sprints. It is believed that it will be an exciting event and your team s participation will greatly enhance the competition atmosphere. 2.2. Public Transport Access to Discovery Bay is very convenient by public Ferry or Bus services: By Ferry: From Central Ferry Pier No. 3, departures every 30 minutes. By Bus: Bus from International Airport: Bus DB 001 from Terminal 2, Departure Bay 27 Bus No. DB02R (Cheong Tat Road Car Park1) to direction Discovery Bay Ferry Pier Bus from Tung Chung Bus Terminus: Bus DB02R to direction Discovery Bay Ferry Pier. Stop at Seabird Lane Door No. 15 Bus from Sunny Bay MTR Station: Bus No. DB03 (Bus Terminus), to direction Discovery Bay, Stop at Seabird Lane No. 15 2.3. Food and beverage sales The nearby Discovery Bay plaza is about 5 minutes walk from the beach and has a range of fast food restaurants, bars, convenience stores, etc.
3.7. Toilets Toilets are located behind the beach, approximately half way along the beach. There are no changing rooms, but the toilets have a comfortable size to change there. There are also outdoor showers in front of the toilet block. Rowers are advised not to leave any valuables or uniforms in these rooms. 2.4. 3. Competition Information 3.1. Competition Venue The Beach Rowing Event will take place at the Tai Pak Beach, Discovery Bay, Lantau Island, Hong Kong. 3.2. Practice Schedule There will be an opportunity to practice on the race course the afternoon of Saturday 28 th November from 3pm to 5pm. Please email Allan Bell at rowing-chair@lantauboatclub.com if you would like to practice. 3.3. Registration & Briefings Registration will open at 8:30am on Sunday 28 th November. Briefings will be held on Sunday 29 th November at the following times: Men (M2x) Women (W2x) & Mixed (Mix2x) 8 45am 11 45am At least one crew member from every crew must attend a briefing. 3.4. Event Format The Coastal Rowing Beach Sprints will be held with up to three lanes and a beach finish format at the Tai Pak Beach. The distance of all races is approximately 500 meters including the beach finish, and will take between 3 and 4 minutes. Start Finish Course Boats held on the shore-line. Arch on beach. When the boat arrives on the shore one of the crew will jump out of the boat and run to the finishing arch on the beach. The race course will involve a slalom element. Below is a potential course the exact course is to be confirmed.
3.5. Race Schedule, Start List and Result The provisional race schedule is in Appendix 1. The final start list will be provided in the briefings and the results will be updated on the notice board at the competition venue on the race date according to the latest finishes. 3.6. Rules of Racing Please refer to Appendix 2 3.7. Warm up Facilities Concept II Model D rowing ergometers with PM4 monitors will be provided for warm up at the competition venue. Maximum four rowing machines at the competition venue will be designated for warming up of athletes. If not possible please warm up on the boats before starts. 3.8. Medal Presentation Ceremony The Medal Presentation Ceremony will be held at the beach after completion of all the races. All teams and winners are invited to attend. Timing approximately 5 pm.

First Aid Services First aid services will be provided in the competition venue. 4.3. Expenses for Medical Services The expenses of any hospitalization and medical treatment shall be the responsibility of the participating clubs or associations of the rowers concerned. All participating clubs or associations are responsible for adequately insuring their team members.
5. Declarations All Teams MUST return the signed Declarations to the Organizing Committee on race day. Declarations As a condition of all the named rowers of my Club being permitted to compete in the Discovery Bay Beach Festival 2015 Coastal Rowing Beach Sprints (the Event ) and any ancillary event or function (collectively "Event") and in consideration of the opportunity to take part in the Event, I confirm to the Hong Kong, China Rowing Association (HKCRA) and Hong Kong Resorts Limited, the Event Sponsors, their partners and related companies and Lantau Boat Club Limited, their successors and assigns, servants and agent (the Event "Organizer") as follows: - 1. I understand that by participating in the Event, there are risks of injury, death and/or loss. I/we enter the Event at my/our own risk and responsibility. I and my team hereby discharge the Organizer and any other individual or organization connected directly or indirectly with the Event from any responsibility in the event of injury, death or loss of property incurred during, as consequence of, or while traveling to and from the Event. 2. I declare that the above named rowers can swim at least 50 meters in light clothing and physically fit and capable of participating in the Event and have not been otherwise advised by a qualified medical practitioner. 3. I hereby declare that all participants age under 18 have obtained the consent of their parents/guardians or other authorized person's for participation in the Event. 4. The use of performance enhancing drugs and doping practices by Members, Registered Rowers and rower support personnel of the HKCRA and those (collectively "athletes") taking part in activities organized or supported by the HKCRA or any Club is strictly prohibited. All athletes shall comply fully with the latest Anti-Doping Rules of the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China, the Hong Kong Anti-Doping Committee and the Anti-Doping Bye-Laws of FISA. Any athlete in breach of this provision or assisting in a breach by others will be subject to disqualification in accordance with Rule 72 and suspension or termination of membership in accordance with Article 14 of the Articles of Association. The Board of HKCRA reserves the right to communicate details of any breach to the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China, the Hong Kong Anti-Doping Committee and FISA. 5. I grant permission and assign all rights, title and interest to the Organizer to utilize all participants' personal information, appearance, name, voice, bio-data likeness and any intellectual property rights in connection with the Event in any and all media throughout the world in perpetuity and agree to waive any right of inspection or approval associated thereto. 6. I agree that the Organizer is permitted to collect, store and use the personal data (as defined in the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance) as provided by me/my team in the Entry Form for the purpose of or in connection with the Event (including but not limited to organization, promotion, and publicity of the Event) and that such collection, storage and use are lawful and fair in the circumstances. I further agree that the Organizer may provide the personal data to such of its agents, successors, supporting organizations and other related parties for the purpose of or in connection with the Event. 7. I understand and agree, upon request, to provide originals or copies thereof of the HKID Card/Passport for all participants to verify all the personal details to the Organizer.. 8. By signing this Entry Form, myself and my team agree to and confirm to accept all of the terms, conditions herein and subsequently raised in the important notes, race bulletin, race briefing, declarations and conditions. 9. The information provided by the applicant(s) will only be used for the enrolment and promotion of recreation and sports activities organized by the Organizer and co-organizing parties.
