Killick Coast Games 2016 Welcome to the 2016 Killick Coast Games. This years games will run from Monday, August 22 nd Friday, August 26 th, in the town of Logy Bay-Middle Cove-Outer Cove. The event will take place at Kelly Park in Outer Cove. Website All information for the games will be posted to the town website, lbmcoc.ca. This will serve as the main point of communication for all activities surrounding the games. Facilities This includes schedules and any updates/changes made to the schedule Make sure to check the website every day for changes and news. All information regarding weather cancellations or delays will be posted as they become available. Alternate locations due to weather would be: Basketball and Ball Hockey- St. Francis of Assisi Gymnasium (29 Outer Cove Road) Soccer and Softball- Will be rescheduled All games will be played at Kelly Park unless there is bad weather. Kelly Park is located at 108 Outer Cove Road. The Justina Centre is also located in Kelly Park and that is where the canteen, First Aid, water refill station and washrooms will be. Canteen Each athlete and coach will go to the wristband station set up in the Justina Centre each day to receive their coloured wristband. We will
provide peanut free snacks and meals, however we cannot guarantee a peanut free environment. The wristband is good for: 2 snacks, 1 botteled water, 1 Gatorade and a lunch each day While we provide 1 plastic water bottle, we encourage everyone to bring his or her own refillable water bottle to use at our water refill station so that we can be mindful of the environment. We will also have additional items available at the canteen for a fee. First Aid Each playing Field/Court will have a First Aid Kit on site, with the main First Aid station will be located in the Justina Centre. Game Rules All games must begin within five minutes of their scheduled time slot. If, after this five minutes grace period, any team does not have the minimum number of players, the game will be defaulted. If scheduling conflicts with other sports at the KCG cause teams to not have enough players then there will be exceptions made. Softball - All games will be played according to Softball NL rules unless otherwise stated below; - Games will be 7 Innings (or 1 hour and 15 minutes) - At 1 hour mark, teams will be notified that the upcoming inning will be the last inning (No minimum number of innings)
- Fair Play Rules in Effect (min 3 innings and rotate all batters) - Players must bring their own gloves - No live plate - Traditional arc, must be minimum 6 feet, slow pitch - Pitching mat to determine strikes and balls - Teams will use house bats (No other bats are allowed to be used) - Shin guards are not mandatory for catchers. Helmet and chest protector are mandatory (Provided by the host town) - Maximum of 5 runs can be scored in an inning, besides the last inning which is an open inning - If a team is leading by 15 runs after 3 innings the game will be called at that point - If a team is leading by 10 runs after 5 innings the game will be called at that point - Players can slide into second and third base, if a player slides into first or third they will be out - Players running home will run past the home plate scoring line; if they touch home plate they will be out - There is a commitment line - There is no stealing at any point - On a dropped third strike the batter is automatically out and they can not run to first, no tag is needed - A foul ball after 2 strikes is also a foul out - All divisions will follow the rules set in place by Softball Newfoundland and Labrador for pitching distances and base distances - Infield Fly Rule is not in effect for Junior Age Groups (11-13) - Infield Fly Rule is in effect for Senior Age Group (14-17)
Ball Hockey - All games will be played according to NL Ball Hockey Association rules unless stated otherwise below; - Games will be two 15 minute periods with a 5 minute half - 4 on 4 with a goalie style - A 7 point lead at any time in the 2 nd period ends the game - If a game is tied after regulation, a shootout will occur with 3 players shooting for each team. If after 3 shooters it is still tied then it will be a sudden death shootout. Every player has to shoot before a player can shoot twice - After a goal the defense will take the ball from the side of the net, scoring team must retreat to half - Players must bring their own helmets and sticks - If there is a tie there will be a 3 player shootout - Fair Play Rules in Effect - No minimum number of females, all players get equal playing time - No slap shots= Shot where the sticks comes above the waist will be considered a dead ball and other team gets possession - No high stick= Stick cannot come above players waist, if stick is above players waist and they touch the ball, the ball will be given to the other team. If a players stick is above their waist and comes in contact with another player a penalty will be given to the player - Penalized players will sit off for 2 minutes - There will be no checking, cross checking, slashing, hooking, high-sticking, tripping or any other inappropriate stick work of any kind. Doing so shall result in a penalty for player.
More serious offensive such as fighting, spearing and butt ending could result in a game suspension and even a tournament suspension depending on the severity (Decision of the committee) - Fiber glass sticks are allowed outside, however if the games are moved indoors due to weather, players must use plastic blade sticks - Players must bring their own helmets, gloves and sticks - Goalie gear will be provided if teams need equipment Basketball - All games will follow FIBA rules unless stated otherwise below; - 3 on 3 Style - 3 players needed to start a game, 2 can finish - Games will have two 15 minute halves - Overtime will be one 4 minute time period - Fouls will result in point for the fouled player and the fouled team gets the ball back - One point per basket - A player accumulating 4 fouls will be ejected (two ejections could result in being kicked out of the tournament) - No 3 seconds in the key violations - All forms of defense allowed - Fair Play Rules in Effect Soccer - All games will follow NLSA rules unless stated otherwise below;
- Games will have two 20 minute halves with a 5 minute half time - Games ending in a tie will result in a 5 shooter shootout (Goalie who finished game must stay in net for the shootout) - Shin pads and cleats are mandatory - Steal cleats are prohibited - Fair Play Rules in Effect - Minimum of 4 girls on the field at all times - 1 yellow card is a minor offence - 2 yellow cards is an automatic red, removal from game - 1 red card is removal from game and will miss next game - 2 red cards will result in removal from the tournament Cross Country Run - Age groups will be 11-12, 13-14, 15-17
