About EVHS Our mission is to end animal suffering due to overpopulation and preventable diseases, especially in underserved communities. All are welcome. Since our client pets live in poverty, we care for every animal, regardless of how old, sick, neglected or abused. That s our simple promise. By providing humane, consistent care for the animals in our community, we help end the cycle of homelessness that create more litters, whose tragic fate is roaming the streets, neglect or worse. And it s working. Over the last eight years, our community has enjoyed a 42% drop in homeless animals, with 83% of shelter animals finding their forever homes.
Our Mission Free for Locals. Every year we complete 4,200 free spay/neuter surgeries and 12,300 free vaccinations for at-risk pets. We also sponsor vaccine clinics in traditionally underserved neighborhoods. This community outreach effort builds relationships with pet owners, identifies the health of at-risk pets, and schedules surgeries for intact pets, preventing unwanted litters. Our goal is to reduce the number of unwanted animals at our shelter by creating a healthier community for pets, their families, and their neighbors. Love is our overhead. The Española Valley Humane Society manages a city-owned shelter, which means we don t have a mortgage or pay rent or utilities. 91% of your gift goes directly towards animal care. Our focus is quality staff and service, doing the most to love every animal every day. We re proud to have earned a reputation for providing consistent, humane care and healthy, successful adoptions, along with innovative, effective get- er-done programs. Thank you for believing in our work!
Charlie Daniels Band The Charlie Daniels Band A benefit for Española Valley Humane Society Friday May 19 8 pm Buffalo Thunder Resort & Casino A talented and showy fiddler, Charlie Daniels and his band fuse hardcore country with a hard-edged Southern rock, boogie, and blues. The group which has had a rotating cast of musicians over the years has always been known for its instrumental dexterity, but Daniels and company were also notorious for their downhome, good-old-boy attitude. Daniels is perhaps best known for his number one country hit The Devil Went Down to Georgia, and multiple other songs he has written and performed. Daniels has been active as a singer and musician since the 1950s. He was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry on January 24, 2008 and the Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum in 2009. Daniels was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2016.
