The TW Steel DMAX Champs 2014 Round 3 Whilton Mill The UK s fastest Arrive&Drive Championship made its first visit in 2014 to Whilton Mill. The track was dry to start with but showers throughout the day made for challenging conditions at times. Light Heat 1 Ben Leslie led the pack into a slippery turn 1 and arrived at Christmas with a comfortable gap over James Baldwin and Steve Moody. Marco Coltelli was up into 4 th and had Chris Hackworth climbing all over the back of him as they left James Wickham and Adam Kent behind them. Coltelli closed on Moody and passed him going into The Boot with Hackworth next to line him up for a pass, getting ahead as they hit the brakes for Christmas. Baldwin was beginning to make inroads on Leslie after three laps, setting the fastest lap and reducing his lead to 1.2 seconds as the track began to dry up. Leslie responded however, keeping Baldwin at 1 second behind him as he started the final lap. Leslie took the win from Baldwin, Hackworth, Coltelli and Moody. 1 Ben Leslie 8 54.38 8 08:02.287 2 James Baldwin 8 1.852 54.812 7 08:04.139 3 Chris Hackworth 8 11.337 55.122 7 08:13.624 4 Marco Coltelli 8 11.893 55.356 7 08:14.180 5 Steve Moody 8 13.069 55.635 7 08:15.356 6 James Wickham 8 17.248 55.918 8 08:19.535 7 Adam Kent 8 17.777 56.007 8 08:20.064 8 Laurent Lesourd 8 22.169 56.33 8 08:24.456 9 Dom Whiting 8 22.973 56.727 8 08:25.260 10 Jonny Spencer 8 23.031 56.136 8 08:25.318 11 Richard Lacey 8 23.228 56.028 7 08:25.515 12 Jack Stevenson 8 23.796 56.394 8 08:26.083 13 Jed Mcinnes 8 24.986 56.082 7 08:27.273 14 Dominic Tucker 8 25.37 55.907 7 08:27.657 15 Josh King 8 25.943 56.164 7 08:28.230 16 Charlie Franks 8 37.43 57.794 7 08:39.717 17 Joe Williams 8 38.474 58.385 7 08:40.761 18 Robert Moss 8 48.735 59.33 8 08:51.022 19 Kyle Langley 8 55.513 59.614 7 08:57.800 Inters Heat 1 Stuart Foster had a good run up the hill opening up a few kart lengths over the chasing pack. Joe Holmes moved into 2 nd as the lap progressed and set after Foster, leaving Sam Harris to hold off James Brunton. James Pratt was also getting through the field, passing two drivers into turn 1 as Holmes took over at the front from Foster. Holmes was off, gapping the group behind him which was now headed by Alec Tucker and Brunton as Foster dropped down the order with Ed White next to be staring at his exhaust. Tucker threw

away 2 nd with a half spin going into The Boot, promoting Brunton into 2 nd ahead of White, Pratt and Allan Curtis. Holmes took the chequered flag, 8.5 seconds clear of Brunton, Pratt, Curtis and White. 1 Joe Holmes 9 54.818 9 08:24.465 2 James Brunton 9 8.456 55.083 9 08:32.921 3 James Pratt 9 8.751 54.978 9 08:33.216 4 Allan Curtis 9 9.029 54.985 9 08:33.494 5 Ed White 9 9.564 55.384 9 08:34.029 6 Alec Tucker 9 11.421 54.763 9 08:35.886 7 Stuart Foster 9 12.615 56.085 9 08:37.080 8 Sam Fisher 9 Phil Kendall 9 14.565 55.798 8 08:39.030 10 Kai Watson 9 16.363 55.353 9 08:40.828 11 Sam Harris 9 18.475 55.945 9 08:42.940 12 Andrew Knapp 9 19.501 56.409 4 08:43.966 13 Stewart Macgregor 9 33.412 57.494 9 08:57.877 14 Slawomir Piskorz 8 1 lap 55.514 9 08:43.523 Heavy Heat 1 Tomasz Zaustowicz leapt off into turn 1 leaving the pack behind as he was chased by Michael McKeegan and Malcolm Clark. Chris Carter was making his way up the order and was sitting in 3 rd after three laps with Clark next in his sights with Clark and Carter both catching Zaustowicz. As they bunched up, it was a three way scrap for the lead with Carter coming out on top ahead of Clark and Zaustowicz. Vincent then joined them as they started the final lap but it was Carter that won from Clark, Richard Francis, Zaustowicz and Vincent. 1 Chris Carter 9 57.425 4 08:55.163 2 Malcolm Clark 9 0.856 57.731 4 08:56.019 3 Richard Francis 9 2.731 57.974 5 08:57.894 4 Tomasz Zaustowicz 9 2.779 57.963 5 08:57.942 5 David Vincent 9 2.785 58.09 5 08:57.948 6 Jack Dutfield 9 3.029 57.998 7 08:58.192 7 Jamie Pender 9 4.428 58.041 5 08:59.591 8 Robert Bennett 9 6.286 56.207 4 09:01.449 9 Chris Munro 9 7.141 56.267 4 09:02.304 10 Vinod Hirani 9 7.234 58.1 9 09:02.397 11 Ian Brooks 9 9.252 58.125 5 09:04.415 12 Peter Gillett 9 9.965 59.144 9 09:05.128 13 Andy Henley 9 10.747 58.297 9 09:05.910 14 George Dutfield 9 11.598 56.694 7 09:06.761 15 Lee Witney 9 13.598 57.502 4 09:08.761 16 Ian Dutfield 9 42.012 59.02 4 09:37.175 17 Michael Mckeegan 8 1 lap 57.019 8 09:06.036

18 James Brett Pitt 8 1 lap 57.524 8 09:37.589 Light Heat 2 Joe Williams led the field into turn 1, but lost out to Jonny Spencer at Christmas with Marco Coltelli and James Baldwin adding to Williams grief. Chris Hackworth was up to 4 th, but lost out to Ben Leslie coming down the hill on lap 2 as Coltelli began to attack Spencer for the lead going into The Boot. Lap 3 saw a train of karts at the front headed by Spencer, but contact occurred at the final corner, promoting Baldwin from 3 rd to 1 st ahead of Coltelli, Leslie, Hackworth, Spencer and Jed McInnes with all of them lapping bumper tobumper. The contact was deemed to be Coltelli s fault, earning him a black flag. Coltelli took the lead just before he was given his black flag as Hackworth took Leslie for 3 rd going into The Boot. Baldwin started the Final lap with Hackworth and Leslie right on his tail; just 0.6 seconds separating the three of them. Baldwin won heat 2 from Hackworth, Leslie, McInnes and Spencer. 1 James Baldwin 9 53.741 9 08:23.600 2 Chris Hackworth 9 0.815 54.131 5 08:24.415 3 Ben Leslie 9 0.931 54.081 9 08:24.531 4 Jed Mcinnes 9 3.66 54.341 6 08:27.260 5 Jonny Spencer 9 3.949 54.36 6 08:27.549 6 Charlie Franks 9 12.05 55.232 9 08:35.650 7 Steve Moody 9 12.288 54.976 8 08:35.888 8 Josh King 9 12.46 54.486 9 08:36.060 9 Richard Lacey 9 12.582 54.418 9 08:36.182 10 James Wickham 9 13.541 54.222 9 08:37.141 11 Dominic Tucker 9 15.742 54.941 9 08:39.342 12 Adam Kent 9 17.728 56.022 6 08:41.328 13 Robert Moss 9 18.26 55.334 7 08:41.860 14 Kyle Langley 9 30.22 56.654 5 08:53.820 15 Joe Williams 9 44.25 57.333 5 09:07.850 16 Marco Coltelli 9 52.751 54.198 5 09:16.351 17 Dom Whiting 8 1 lap 54.68 8 08:41.337 18 Laurent Lesourd 8 1 lap 55.591 5 08:56.330 19 Jack Stevenson 1 8 laps 01:05.117 1 01:07.328 Inters Heat 2 Ed White appeared out of the first sequence of corners ahead, chased by Kai Watson and Phil Kendall. Joe Holmes had a brilliant opening lap, going from 14 th to 4 th which soon became 3 rd as he passed James Pratt coming down the hill. He then began to challenge Watson a lap later, getting passed Watson into Chapman but picked up a penalty for doing so with contact. Pratt capitalised and also moved ahead of Watson to take 3 rd. Holmes set after White at the front, closing him down and leaving the rest behind him as Pratt held off

Watson and Alec Tucker. Holmes served his penalty in the pits giving White an easy run to the chequered flag. White won by 1.588 seconds from Pratt, Watson, Tucker and Stuart Foster. 1 Ed White 9 54.629 9 08:24.039 2 James Pratt 9 1.588 54.352 9 08:25.627 3 Kai Watson 9 1.985 54.52 9 08:26.024 4 Alec Tucker 9 2.398 54.466 8 08:26.437 5 Stuart Foster 9 9.115 54.792 6 08:33.154 6 Allan Curtis 9 14.671 55.604 4 08:38.710 7 Slawomir Piskorz 9 11.861 55.078 8 08:35.900 8 James Brunton 9 11.709 54.558 8 08:35.748 9 Sam Harris 9 15.226 55.347 9 08:39.265 10 Andrew Knapp 9 15.533 55.408 9 08:39.572 11 Phil Kendall 9 17.736 55.651 7 08:41.775 12 Stewart Macgregor 9 19.667 55.566 9 08:43.706 13 Joe Holmes 5 4 laps 54.518 4 04:44.702 14 Sam Fisher 3 6 laps 56.154 3 03:00.183 Heavy Heat 2 Chris Carter got ahead of Vinod Hirani through turns 1 and 2 with George Dutfield and David Vincent close behind. Carter was away at the front as Dutfield closed on Hirani and Chris Munro got ahead of Vincent. Hirani was doing well to hold off Dutfield as Munro closed in leaving Vincent to fend off Jack Dutfield and Jamie Pender. Dutfield finally got the better of Hirani, passing him on lap 6 as Carter continued to extend his lead over the squabbling pack behind him. Carter started the final lap 2.6 seconds clear of George and Jack Dutfield and took the chequered flag from George and Jack Dutfield, Hirani and Munro. 1 Chris Carter 9 54.369 9 08:17.445 2 George Dutfield 9 2.807 54.408 8 08:20.252 3 Jack Dutfield 9 4.143 54.118 9 08:21.588 4 Vinod Hirani 9 4.339 54.806 8 08:21.784 5 Chris Munro 9 5.422 54.764 7 08:22.867 6 David Vincent 9 5.603 54.65 8 08:23.048 7 Jamie Pender 9 5.889 54.592 8 08:23.334 8 Ian Brooks 9 7.9 54.616 8 08:25.345 9 Richard Francis 9 11.608 54.803 8 08:29.053 10 Malcolm Clark 9 11.706 54.146 8 08:29.151 11 Lee Witney 9 12.166 54.395 9 08:29.611 12 Ian Dutfield 9 12.188 54.921 7 08:29.633 13 Michael Mckeegan 9 12.432 54.403 6 08:29.877 14 Tomasz Zaustowicz 9 19.294 54.95 6 08:36.739 15 Robert Bennett 9 23.822 54.763 8 08:41.267 16 Andy Henley 9 27.172 55.139 8 08:44.617

Richard Lacey had moved into 3 rd on lap 1 and was soon passed McInnes for 2 nd and was chasing down Tucker. Baldwin was lighting up the timing screen, setting a series of fastest laps as he worked his way up the grid into 4 th and the halfway stage with 4 th becoming 3 rd with a move on McInnes coming back down the hill. Lacey had grabbed the lead and was edging away from Tucker with Baldwin closing in on Tucker and passing him on the approach to Parker. Baldwin then closed down Lacey and began to look for a way passed with 2 laps remaining and getting ahead on the way back from Christmas. Baldwin took the chequered flag a lap later beating Lacey, Tucker, Hackworth and McInnes. 1 James Baldwin 9 52.638 9 08:08.897 2 Richard Lacey 9 1.23 53.278 7 08:10.127 3 Dominic Tucker 9 2.314 53.444 7 08:11.211 4 Chris Hackworth 9 5.683 53.249 7 08:14.580 5 Jed Mcinnes 9 6.454 53.908 9 08:15.351 6 Marco Coltelli 9 7.113 53.529 7 08:16.010 7 James Wickham 9 7.607 53.538 7 08:16.504 8 Ben Leslie 9 8.425 53.399 6 08:17.322 9 Laurent Lesourd 9 9.281 53.632 6 08:18.178 10 Josh King 9 12.186 54.027 8 08:21.083 11 Jonny Spencer 9 12.358 53.713 7 08:21.255 12 Steve Moody 9 14.764 54.239 8 08:23.661 13 Jack Stevenson 4 5 laps 55.009 4 03:51.107 14 Dom Whiting 9 16.41 53.727 9 08:25.307 15 Adam Kent 9 18.235 54.769 5 08:27.132 16 Charlie Franks 9 23.568 54.955 6 08:32.465 17 Kyle Langley 9 23.968 54.963 5 08:32.865 18 Joe Williams 9 37.969 56.406 8 08:46.866 19 Robert Moss 9 38.249 55.589 5 08:47.146 Inters Heat 3 Joe Holmes had a comfortable couple of kart lengths over the field as they approached Christmas and by the end of lap 1, had a lead of 1.3 seconds over Kai Watson and Sam Fisher. Alec Tucker was closing in on Fisher ahead of him as Holmes left Watson to hold off Fisher and Tucker with James Pratt closing in and bringing James Brunton with him. This all changed as the two groups merged and began to squabble for position allowing Pratt to sneak through into 2 nd ahead of Fisher, Tucker, Ed White, Brunton, Stuart Foster and Phil

Kendall all of whom were lapping one after the other. Holmes won comfortably from Pratt, Fisher, Tucker and Foster. 1 Joe Holmes 9 53.59 9 08:08.882 2 James Pratt 9 6.491 53.672 9 08:15.373 3 Sam Fisher 9 8.546 54.134 9 08:17.428 4 Alec Tucker 9 8.822 54.065 9 08:17.704 5 Stuart Foster 9 9.105 53.517 6 08:17.987 6 James Brunton 9 9.278 53.693 9 08:18.160 7 Ed White 9 10.216 53.799 5 08:19.098 8 Phil Kendall 9 10.843 53.927 5 08:19.725 9 Kai Watson 9 14.387 54.559 5 08:23.269 10 Allan Curtis 9 14.882 54.406 9 08:23.764 11 Stewart Macgregor 9 18.387 55.064 9 08:27.269 12 Sam Harris 9 18.931 54.747 8 08:27.813 13 Slawomir Piskorz 9 24.542 55.572 5 08:33.424 14 Andrew Knapp 3 6 laps 55.354 2 02:51.737 Heavy Heat 3 Andy Henley held off Robert Bennett going up the hill at the start with Chris Munro slotting in behind in 3 rd. Bennett took the lead from Henley before the lap was over with Munro passing Henley to take up 2 nd, albeit 2 seconds behind Bennett who was off up the road. Carter was making steady progress and was sitting in 5 th with a fastest lap on lap 4, but it was looking unlikely that he would make it three heat wins from three as Bennett was long gone. Bennett started the final lap 4 seconds clear ahead of Munro, but Carter looked like he could grab 3 rd from Henley. As they went into The Boot, Carter slipped up the inside, taking 3 rd as the chequered flag greeted Bennett from Munro, Carter, Henley and Tomasz Zaustowicz. 1 Robert Bennett 9 54.058 9 08:15.466 2 Chris Munro 9 4.045 54.188 8 08:19.511 3 Chris Carter 9 5.775 53.845 8 08:21.241 4 Andy Henley 9 5.997 54.35 8 08:21.463 5 Tomasz Zaustowicz 9 9.48 54.738 6 08:24.946 6 Ian Brooks 9 11.953 54.513 8 08:27.419 7 David Vincent 9 15.433 54.599 8 08:30.899 8 Jamie Pender 9 15.702 54.63 8 08:31.168 9 James Brett Pitt 9 19.4 55.309 5 08:34.866 10 Malcolm Clark 9 19.851 55.152 6 08:35.317 11 Richard Francis 9 20.216 55.364 9 08:35.682 12 Vinod Hirani 9 20.742 55.599 6 08:36.208 13 Jack Dutfield 9 20.925 55.396 7 08:36.391 14 Ian Dutfield 9 20.993 55.519 9 08:36.459 15 Michael Mckeegan 9 24.926 55.558 7 08:40.392

There was nothing between the four of them as they made their way through The Boot for the first time with Jed McInnes hanging on just behind as the rain began to fall. The rain caught the pack out as Hackworth hit the front ahead of Leslie and Baldwin with Baldwin losing the rear on the brakes and sliding into Leslie, dropping them both down the order and promoting Lacey into 2 nd and McInnes into 3 rd. The rain continued to pelt down, catching out some of the drivers, but not Hackworth who was enjoying a lead of 4.5 seconds after 4 laps over Baldwin and Lacey with Baldwin being black flagged for the contact with Leslie. Marco Coltelli was enjoying the damp conditions, taking 2 nd from Lacey with Dom Whiting dropping him a further position. Hackworth was having it easy at the front, extending his lead with each lap which was up to 8 seconds with 2 laps remaining. Hackworth was greeted by the chequered flag beating Coltelli and Whiting with Leslie and Lacey just missing out on the podium. 1 Chris Hackworth 9 56.738 1 10:13.600 2 Marco Coltelli 9 7.817 58.802 1 10:21.417 3 Dom Whiting 9 9.825 58.473 1 10:23.425 4 Ben Leslie 9 14.745 56.772 1 10:28.345 5 Richard Lacey 9 15.498 57.091 1 10:29.098 6 Jonny Spencer 9 18.244 01:02.717 9 10:31.844 7 Jed Mcinnes 9 20.272 57.626 1 10:33.872 8 Steve Moody 9 20.386 01:00.013 9 10:33.986 9 Dominic Tucker 9 23.826 01:00.617 1 10:37.426 10 Adam Kent 9 26.055 01:01.717 9 10:39.655 11 James Wickham 9 26.504 58.962 1 10:40.104 12 Josh King 9 26.879 01:01.017 9 10:40.479 13 James Baldwin 9 31.4 56.708 1 10:45.000 14 Jack Stevenson 9 38.274 59.846 1 10:51.874 15 Robert Moss 9 39.417 01:00.375 1 10:53.017 16 Laurent Lesourd 8 1 lap 58.471 1 10:31.544 17 Charlie Franks 8 1 lap 01:01.870 8 10:51.609 18 Kyle Langley 7 2 laps 01:03.997 1 10:48.682 19 Joe Williams 6 3 laps 01:03.538 1 07:44.759

Marc Coltelli, Chris Hackworth, Dom Whiting Inters James Pratt and Joe Holmes lined up on the front row, with Pratt holding off Holmes through the first two corners and up to Christmas. Ed White was sitting in 3 rd just behind Holmes with Alex Tucker on his rear bumper. Pratt had a decent cushion of 0.840 seconds over Holmes as they completed lap 1 with Holmes leaving White to defend against Tucker and James Brunton. Holmes got his head down to hold the gap at 0.8 seconds when they passed the line once more as White began to make a break from Tucker and Brunton with the closest fight being the race for 7 th between Stuart Foster and Sam Fisher with Slawomir Piskorz and Andrew Knapp joining them on lap 4. Holmes was gradually edging back towards Pratt at the front, taking a tenth a lap out of him, and was not getting away from White who was matching his pace along with Tucker in 4 th. Tucker began to fall back from the three ahead of him as they all lapped in the 54.3 second bracket and with just two laps remaining, it looked as though Pratt might just hang on with the gap at half a second. Holmes got his head down to close the gap though as they started the final lap to put him right on his rear bumper as they arrived at Christmas. Pratt was keeping him at bay all of the way to The Boot, but Holmes saw a gap as they got to the right of The Boot and slid up the inside and took the position with two corners left. Holmes held on to narrowly win from Pratt, White, Brunton and Tucker. 1 Joe Holmes 11 53.936 11 10:03.265

The tricky conditions caught out a handful of drivers on the opening lap as Carter

built a lead of 2.7 seconds on lap 1 over Jack Dutfield, David Vincent and Tomasz Zaustowicz. Jamie Pender was picking his way through this group passing Zaustowicz for 4 th and set after Vincent ahead of him. Track conditions were getting worse as the race wore on, causing drivers to slip and slide around the circuit, but Carter had it all in hand, building his lead to 6 seconds after just 4 laps. Vincent and Pender both caught Dutfield in the battle for 2 nd with the three of them all sitting in 2 nd at some point on lap 5 with Vincent coming out on top ahead of Pender and Dutfield, but the race was not over as Pender began to attack Vincent through Chapman with Dutfield following him through, only to lose out to Vincent going back into The Boot. These three continued to battle allowing Chris Munro to sneak passed into 3 rd with Munro beginning to challenge Pender for 2 nd as they started the final lap. Carter took a well deserved win, beating Pender by 7.240 seconds with Munro taking the last step on the podium with Zaustowicz and Vincent completing the top 5. 1 Chris Carter 9 01:04.017 9 11:04.404 2 Jamie Pender 9 7.24 01:04.450 9 11:11.644 3 Chris Munro 9 7.745 01:04.758 9 11:12.149 4 Tomasz Zaustowicz 9 8.988 01:03.675 9 11:13.392 5 David Vincent 9 10.379 01:05.322 9 11:14.783 6 Jack Dutfield 9 10.963 01:03.637 9 11:15.367 7 Ian Brooks 9 14.622 01:02.612 9 11:19.026 8 Malcolm Clark 9 19.632 01:04.605 9 11:24.036 9 Robert Bennett 9 21.683 01:02.800 9 11:26.087 10 George Dutfield 9 30.862 01:03.241 9 11:35.266 11 Richard Francis 9 34.54 01:06.948 9 11:38.944 12 Lee Witney 9 34.852 01:03.792 9 11:39.256 13 James Brett Pitt 9 34.866 01:02.787 9 11:39.270 14 Peter Gillett 9 41.194 01:04.718 9 11:45.598 15 Andy Henley 9 45.438 01:04.108 9 11:49.842 16 Vinod Hirani 9 52.971 01:04.463 9 11:57.375 17 Michael Mckeegan 9 01:02.665 01:02.910 9 12:07.069 18 Ian Dutfield 9 laps 22.959
