You probably looked at other 4-H exhibits during the county fair or at the state fair and thought maybe that is something you would like to try for next year. The 4-H judge may have asked you what your plans are for next year. Having goals helps you to achieve and get things done. Goals have three parts that can be measured: The action: how you are going to do it The result: what you will do The timetable: when you plan to have it done This sample goal shows each part of a measureable goal: The action how I want to learn The result what my family s involvement in 4-H The timetable when before county fair. Practice writing goals that include Action, Result and Timetable Project I want to Action (how) Result (what) Timetable (when) There were several 4-H Fair departments that did not have any exhibits that were selected for state fair or the quota could not be filled for state fair. Maybe those classes may be of interest to you in this coming year. Start setting your goals now by reading about the classes in your fair book or go to the ISU Extension - Woodbury County website http://www.extension.iastate.edu/woodbury/kidsteens.htm. Those departments include: Consumer & Management 4-H Historical/Family Heritage Go The Distance $15 Dollar Challenge Fashion Revue & Clothing Selection Child Development Communication Poster Art For more information on setting goals, ask for the publication, Achieving Goals through 4-H (4-H-91). The 4-H emblem is protected under 18 U.S.C. 707 Iowa State University and U.S. Department of Agriculture cooperating Extension Programs are available to all without regard to race, color, National origin, religion, sex, age, or disability.
