I am very envious of all of you that have already got their spring babies. There are some fantastic new Pinto's being born out there. Don't forget to share them with the rest of us who are still patiently waiting, me included. Since the last newsletter I have had a very busy time. I have purchased an Overo mare from Mildura. She arrived in very poor condition and it has been a long haul just getting some condition on her. She had just started to look ok and we could no longer see her backbone or ribs and she got a cold but she is holding in there. I am hoping to be riding her by summer. She has two very impressive bloodlines in her, Touch of Hillbilly on her sires side and on her dams side Star Kingdom. So some time in the future we are hoping she will also become a valuable broodmare for us. I have been told that I will need a seat belt as this cross produces some pretty fast horses. You will probably hear me screaming help me as I go whizzing past hanging on for grim death. LOL. I have also been visiting and had the pleasure of going and seeing our Newsletter Editors new farm. Truly a lovely part of the world. Thanks Lisa for a wonderful visit and letting me have a look at your heavily in foal mares, they were just delightful even in the rain. Also very big congratulations to Sarah Hingston and Anawa Kahabi. This fantastic duo at their very first SHC Hoty impressed the judges on both days in the Hunter classes. Sarah and Kahabi took home Intermediate Show Hunter Hack of the Year in amongst a very strong field. Kahabi looked a treat and worked so well this dynamic duo achieved top marks for Manners and Paces the next day in the Challenge. Also to note Kahabi was the only broken coloured horse at this event. So well done. Also of note one of our former members Christine Bellette and her lovely new hack Allsand took out the Show Hunter newcomer section also in a very strong field it was fantastic to watch. We held a very successful mini show run at the Brooks High School grounds by Diane. I had a ball, taking photo s and laughing at the do or die antics of some of the bigger kids trying to out do each other in the games. There are a few more planned for later in the year along with some fun days as the show season winds down. On the subject of shows, included with the newsletter is our Allbreeds schedule. As well as our membership renewals. I know some of you are going to say they are not due yet, this is true they aren't due until the 31st of December but with the State Show on the 14th of January we just thought we would get them out earlier. Stallion owners, don't forget the Foal Futurity incentive when serving mares. Remember to hand out those forms. Mare owners do not need to be a member of the Tasmanian Pinto Society to nominate their mare. Of course we all hope they have coloured foals, become a member and enter them in the Foal Futurity. IF the resulting foal wins the Yearling foal futurity the Stallion owner gets to advertise this Stallion for free for a full year on the TPS Inc website. This will normally be worth $65 per Stallion. So a great incentive to nominate those mares. The forms are available from the website or by contacting the registrar. BIG NEWS Our State Show falls within our 30th year. Yes that s right we are about to turn the big 30. So to celebrate, the committee has decided to have runner up Hi Point Awards in all sections. A big thank you to the Hingstons for kindly donating for these awards. We also have some get togethers planned to celebrate this great event. Just to mention some of those events being discussed, a beach ride at Bakers Beach in the North also a beach ride at 5 mile in the South. The big BBQ which will be held at a venue to be decided to get everyone together, members old and members new. Its not every day a club turns thirty with the strong history and bright future that we enjoy so please try to attend these events. Well that s all from me. The next newsletter won t be out until I get some foals to brag about. Grin. Hope all your dreams are coloured ones. See you at some of the shows. You never know I might just have a horse in tow. All the best - Melita A Kodak Moment Newsletter Editor: Lisa Dolbel P.O. So who was it at the combined Paint & Pinto Hi Point awards dinner recently who tried to break the record of how many Cherry Margaritas does it take one to miss an AGM. I believe the person/s involved did not surface until very late the following day and have since sworn never to go near anything pink again!!
Congratulations Sarah Hingston & Anawa Kahabi Intermediate Show Hunter Hack of the Year Some of you would be aware that one of our members, Sharon Lindner, of Pembroke Park, is raising an orphan foal. A beautiful colt foal, sired by Macdell Finlay. He has a strong will to live and has already beaten the odds for survival and that is due to his dedicated surrogate mum Sharon and her wonderful friends. Sharon, I wish you all the luck in the world and hope that Shabanna grows into a lovely, strong and healthy boy to carry on his mothers legacy. Although, I do hope that he wont have his own bedroom inside once he is older... Sale Yard REMINDER: You must upgrade foal recorded Pinto's that are now 4yrs of age or over (taken at 1st of August) to adult before they can be shown in Pinto classes. Copies of Sire or Dams adult registration papers must be included with foal recording unless parents are Adult TPS Inc registered, otherwise parentage will be listed as unknown. In the case of Sire a copy of the service certificate with Adult registration number etc listed will be acceptable. Included with this newsletter is the Membership renewal form. All memberships have been increased by $15. Memberships are due on the 31st of December and at that time we also have the cost of the State Show entries so have sent out early so you don't get hit with all the costs at once. Insurance cost stays the same and covers you for all Affiliated AHSA Club and AHSA events. Some societies do not recognise our insurance and do have the right to charge a Day membership or day insurance fee. Eckerly Cheyenne Ash is a lovely mare, rising 4 and approx 14hh. Would suit someone wanting to breed coloured galloways. $1000 ono. Phone: 6438 1557 or 0407 058 291 Pinto Dogs!! Vicki & Malcolm welcomed a litter of Welsh Springer Spaniels on Monday 16th October, they were due on 21st October but when you are having eleven, that's right eleven you tend to run out of room. Unfortunately we lost 3 babies due to a long birth. They are from National Champion and Best in Show & Group winners Ch Goldmaid Otregaron & Ch Tazlon Saffvenc Archie. Puppies will be for sale at the age of 8 weeks, there are 3 girls and 5 beautiful boys, they will be registered, vaccinated wormed and microchipped. Foaling Gallery If you would like to share your new foal with the rest of us, please send in a small story along with a photo to sierrapark@bigpond.com or mail to Lisa Dolbel, PO Box 1313, Burnie Tas 7320 Bethel Miniature Horses We couldn't have hoped and prayed for a more perfect little foal! I named her Bethel Grand Finale because she is the last foal from my daughter's Buckskin and white Pinto pony "Bazil" (show name Barrita Shoneneau). He's now a gelding so she will carry on his lines. The mother's name is Hillside Flame. We are planning to keep Finale and show her next year in AMPS classes. Hybrow Paint & Quarterhorses Vicki & Malcolm Hume welcomed their first foal for the 2006 season on Friday evening 15th September. Another chestnut overo filly by "MONEYMAN" from Paint Bred mare "COSTA MISS ATTITUDE", "MISS MONEYPENNY" (PHAA pending). Penny should mature around 16h and is available for sale upon weaning. Miss Moneypenny Born 15th September, 2006 Sire: Moneyman (chestnut overo) Dam: Costa Miss Attitude (chestnut) Anawa Performance Horses We are proud to present the first 2 foals born here this season. All of our foals are foal imprinted at birth and well handled right from the beginning using mostly natural methods. We take pride in our mare and foal care and continue on with their education until they move on from us. We offer ongoing support for buyers and enjoy following their progress. Both foals will be offered for sale. Bethel Grand Finale Born 17th October 2006 Sire: Barrita Shoneneau (buckskin tobiano) Dam: Hillside Flame (chestnut) Quintally Arabians & Pintos Quintally Sapphire was the first born of this season on Friday 20th October - unbelievably at 1.30 in the afternoon, what a considerate mare. She is an absolute stunner and is true to her heritage, being a perfect cross between her sire, Anawa Mahuska and her exquisite arabian mother, Coraliegh Poppy. She is bay and white with pale blue eyes and a personality that demands attention. Needless to say, she will not be for sale. Anawa Sienna Born 25th September 2006 Dam: Manyana Vin (bay) Quintally Sapphire Born 20th October 2006 Dam: Coraliegh Poppy (bay) Second to arrive was Quintally Nimbus (aka Cloudy) who was born in the wee small early hours of Friday morning, 27th October. He is very like his sire, Blackwood Springs Laredo and promises to be as tall if not taller than him at maturity. His dam is Forever Amber, a black clydiexarab mare who is a three quarter sister to Quintally Moonshine's dam, for those who remember her at the shows. Cloudy is a lot like Moonshine and it is pleasing to see the consistency of type coming through. He will be for sale at weaning in april 2007. Anawa Ceres Born 1st October 2006 Dam: Merenda (chestnut) Quintally Nimbus Born 27th October 2006 Sire: Blackwood Springs Laredo (chestnut tobiano) Dam: Forever Amber (black)
Foaling Gallery cont. Zintahn Lisa Dolbel Last season I leased my black and white mare Springfield Park Tiara to my good friends Lee and Nadeen Davis to breed to their magnificent Friesian stallion Eitsje. Casey is a lovely athletic, big moving type of mare and we believed that she would cross nicely to the Friesian whether she produced colour or not. Needless to say when Dior hit the ground we were all smitten. He is a perfect cross between the two types, with all the necessary traits to make him a top horse in any field. He has a lovely easy going nature, powerful, uphill and elevated movement, excellent conformation and striking colour to boot. Casey will definitely be having another foal to Eitsje next season. She has certainly proven herself as a top mare, last year producing Zintahn Ariadne, a beautiful homozygous black and white tobiano filly. Free Spirit Stud Welcomes the following new arrivals. We have one more foal due any time to free Spirit Camelot. All foals will be available for viewing at our Stud Open Day towards the middle to end of November. Watch the papers for dates. Hope to see you there. Rod and Vicki Gee Free Spirit Holly Golightly Holly is quiet, gentle and a proper young lady. Sire: Free Spirit Rasputin (chestnut tobiano) Dam: Free Spirit Scarlet O'Hara (grey tobiano -born palomino) Wallbrook Dior Born 12th October, 2006 Sire: Eitsje (black) Dam: Springfield Park Tiara (black) On the morning of the 25th October, I let Quintally Stardust out of the foaling yard and back into the paddock as she didn t really look like she would foal through the day, I decided I would let her have the day with her friends. Low and behold, I looked out the window at 10am, only to see Star foaling standing up. I was just in time to see the foal plop to the ground. By the time I had arrived at the paddock (5 minutes maximum) Zodiac was already on his feet drinking. I could not have asked for a nicer foal. He is so elegant and typey, correct in every way, and is the most gentle soul I have ever met. Look out for this one in the future... Free Spirit Sabrina Sabrina is loud in markings as well as personality. She pushes her mother around and is constantly into mischief. Sire: Free Spirit Rasputin (chestnut tobiano) Dam: Free Spirit Roxy Hart (buckskin tobiano) Happy Trigger Paints Introducing the first foal for Barranca Grand Design. Congratulations to the filly s owner Norel Johnson. Zintahn Zodiac Born 25th October, 2006 Dam: Quintally Stardust (black tobiano) Sire: Barranca Grand Design (black overo) Dam: Bloss (brown tobiano)
