As bred heifers, his daughters look like they will make beautiful cows. 38 Special was our pick of the bulls in the record 2016 Baldridge Bros. Sale, where 38 Special and his 6 flush brothers averaged $58,928. 38 Special was the 3rd top-selling bull of the event at $100,000. In three Baldridge sales, dam Y69 has produced a total of 43 sons averaging $38,285! There is power in the blood! Uncommon to high performance bulls with eye appeal, 38 Special transmits excellent marbling. Ultrasound data from the spring 2018 Hoover Angus heifer crop showed that the top FOUR marbling heifers among 100+ heifers were all sired by 38 Special! This young sire now has 73 progeny with a whopping 114 IMF ratio and 100 ribeye ratio (in a herd known for big ribeyes)! 38 Special was definitely the power, high performance bull of his flush and is siring calves exactly the same, yet with very respectable birth weights. He is bending the growth curve about as hard as it can be bent. Of bulls tested free of genetic defects with.85 accuracy or higher, 38 Special is the only sub-zero BW EPD bull that exceeds a +80 WW EPD! 38 Special is a unique blend of his sire s calving ease and his dam s larger frame and power. Viewing the Y69 donor cow prior to purchasing 38 Special, we found her to be everything Jud promised. She is likely the most influential cow in Baldridge history, and is having an impact on the nation s cow herd. As her sons are being used heavily now across the breed, Y69 will be remembered as one of the breed s great ones! There are over 300 AHIR records on 38 Special progeny in 30 herds with an average 98 birth weight ratio and 103 weaning ratio. Over 100 of these records have calving ease scores from first calf heifers, earning 38 Special a EPD in the best of the breed. Heifers have calved successfully in several seasons to 38 Special, and we believe he is a safe choice for the vast majority of heifers in the country. In the spring 2018 Hoover crop, both the #1 adjusted weaning weight bull and #1 adjusted weaning weight heifer (non-et) were sired by 38 Special.
