Due at Time of Entry NO Deck Entries Meet Rules 1. Entry fees must be paid prior to the first session of the meet. 2. All swimmers must be registered with Swim BC/SNC or other FINA recognized club. 3. It is the responsibility of the swimmer to arrive at the blocks in time for their event. 4. This meet will observe the SNC rule book and Swim BC technical guide. SNC warm up procedures to be in effect. 5. Current SNC Swimsuit policy will be observed. 6. Coaches are asked to check in with meet manager upon arrival in order to pick up meet package as well as make sure that all meet fees are paid. Refund for scratched swimmers only allowed with medical note! 7. Coaches meeting will be held 10 minutes prior to the first session of each day. 8. Clubs are responsible for their seating areas within the pool facility. Any act of theft or vandalism, or similar action will result in immediate disqualification. 9. Swim teams are responsible for their swimmers during the meet and between sessions at all times. 10. Meet management reserves the right to make changes to limit individuals on number of events per session if warranted. All affected clubs will be notified and allowed to reenter if needed. 11. CDSC reserves the right to limit/alter the meet to fit the time schedule. Relays and 100 IM may be eliminated if timeouts are too long. Events may be moved to fit timeline if needed. Affected clubs will be notified and allowed to change if needed. 12. Swimmers entering the 400 free and 400 IM will need a SWIM BC AA standard. 13. MIXED relays 2 swimmers per gender. New swimming rules that have taken effect as of September 2013; i. In breaststroke and butterfly, two-hand touches can no longer be overlapping. The hands must be separated when the wall is touched. ii. In backstroke, FINA took out the wording that a swimmer is allowed to be completely submerged at the finish of a race (though they can still do so at the turn). This means that the big lunges we see, most often in younger age groups, that put the swimmer entirely underwater into the wall are now eliminated. Entries 1. Swimmers must have achieved a 4:00-200 I.M. to be eligible to swim in this meet. Please do not submit NT times. 2. Age groups are based on the swimmers age as of the 1st day of the meet. 3. Only short course (metres) times to be submitted. 4. Para swimmers are welcome to compete. Their entries must be accompanied by their classification numbers and done according to entry procedures from Swim Canada. 5. Please provide club officials coordinator s contact name, email and phone number with entries. 6. Please provide a list of officials (each club must provide 2 timers and a S & T with their entry list for each session). 7. CDSC may enter their swimmers at a reduced standard. 8. Relays will be limited to 3 teams per club per age group listed. 9. Non-Canadian teams may submit their entries via the SNC meet listings site, or forward their entries in Hytek form to the meet manager. Event Specifics 1. The 800 and 1500 events are mixed and have an entry standard of 11:30 for the 800 and 23:00 for the 1500 metre swims. a. Each club must supply at least one timer per swimmer for these events. b. No provincial or national records can be recognized for performances in the 800/1500 events due to the races being mixed-gendered. 2. There will be a maximum of 56 swimmers in the 800 and a maximum of 40 swimmers in the 1500 free events. The fastest mixed swimmers only will be accepted. These will be based on times (proof of times must be sent for these events). 3. 400, 800 and 1500 free may be double-laned, and will be swum fast to slow, senior seeded, mixed. Swimmers must swim freestyle (front crawl). 4. The fastest heat of each of the 400, 800 and 1500 free events will be single-laned. 5. Positive check in is required the start of warm ups to the clerk of course for the 800 and 1500 free. Positive check-in for the 400 free is required by 8:30 a.m. on Sunday morning (session 4). 6. Events will be swum as timed finals and senior seeded slowest to fastest according to times with the exception of the 8/1500m and 400m events which will be seeded fastest to slowest. 7. Please enter your 10 & under swimmers in events that will limit them to the 4 hour rule if they are swimming as 12 & under. 8. Only swimmers, coaches, and officials will be allowed on deck during the Meet and during warm-ups. Awards Individual Swimmers achieving the highest FINA point total for one swim (Olympic Event) will receive the following based on male and female : 12& u - $50.00 13-14 - $75.00 15 & o - $100.00 Swimmers must be entered in a minimum of 5 events to qualify for monetary awards Facilities 1. 8 lane 25m competition pool. 2. 6 lane warm up tank (20.7 metres) will be available throughout the meet (east end of pool). No access to the Diving Tank. 3. Omega electronic timing. Proposed new Omega starting blocks. 4. There is plenty of seating upstairs at the Vancouver Aquatic Centre. 5. A limited concession will be available at the meet. There are a lot of restaurants within walking distance or a short drive from the pool. 6. SWIMMING/NATATION CANADA RISK MANAGEMENT / WARM- UP PROCEDURES 2009 During the designated warm- up period, the meet management committee shall be responsible for ensuring that all Risk Management/Warm- up procedures are followed. It is incumbent on all participants, i.e. meet management, coaches, swimmers, and officials to comply with these procedures. Non- compliance with these procedures will result in a warning or removal of the swimmer from the warm- up pool, and possible further reporting to meet management and the Referee for action under rule SW 2.1.1. Meet management shall designate Safety Marshals to actively monitor the warm- up period in the competition pool and ensure compliance with these procedures. Safety Marshals should be notified of any disabled swimmers who are participating in warm- ups. Additional practice pools, if any, are to be supervised by lifeguards and coaches. Safety Marshals shall be responsible to the Referee for all aspects of safety related to conduct during the warm- up period and shall ensure that all appropriate warm- up procedures are followed. (CSW 2.13.1.5) GENERAL WARM- UP RULES: Swimmers shall enter the water FEET FIRST in a cautious manner. No Running on the pool deck No Diving from the side of the pool. Meet Management shall provide signage to indicate designated lane use during warm- up. Notices/barriers shall be placed on starting blocks to prevent diving during the general warm- up. Diving Starts are only permitted in designated Sprint Lanes during the warm- up period. Lanes shall be open primarily for Circle Swimming during the General warm- up period. Coaches and swimmers shall allow Backstrokers & PARA swimmers the right of way for safety purposes. Meet Management may designate a Sprint Lane(s) and/or a Pace Lane(s) throughout the general warm- up period. SPECIFIC/SPRINT WARM- UP PERIOD: Sprint and Pace lanes must be opened for at least the last 30 minutes of warm- ups or as designated by meet management. Outside Lanes should be designated as Sprint Lanes. Only one- way swimming shall be permitted in Sprint Lanes. Sprint Lanes, Pace Lanes, and Circle Swimming lanes shall be clearly marked with signage. The following statement shall appear in the meet information and in posted notices: "SNC WARM UP PROCEDURES WILL BE IN EFFECT AT THIS MEET". EQUIPMENT: FLUTTER BOARDS and PULLBUOYS are allowed.
