The Golden eagles will host Colorado College beginning at 1:30 p.m. CT. The game is the second in a tripleheader of soccer at the Valley. as Saint Mary s and Loyola-Chicago will play at 11 a.m. and the MU men s squad will take the field at the conclusion of the women s game. MU recorded its first shutout victory of the season on Friday evening with a 3-0 decision over Saint Mary s. The Golden eagles received goals from seniors Cara Jacobson and Taylor Madigan and junior Mary Luba. Sophomore Amanda engel registered a clean sheet in net with five saves. Colorado College defeated Loyola-Chicago, 2-0, on Friday to open the MU invitational. Jesse Ayers and Lynn Froetscher scored the goals for the Tigers. Goalkeeper kate Scheele registered two saves while recording the victory in net. This is the first meeting between Marquette and Colorado College. Prior to Sunday s game there will be a tailgate for all students, which will include free hot dogs, a USA Soccer prize pack and FiFA contests with the men s team. She currently ranks second on MU s all-time leaders list with 31 and needs just three more assists to become Marquette s career assists leader. Regina Sekyra (1994-97) currently ranks first with 33 assists. tournament honors: Seniors emily Jacobson and Taylor Madigan were named to the Notre Dame adidas invitational all-tournament team following the conclusion of last weekend s games. Madigan handed out the assist on freshman Ashley Handwork s goal for the Golden eagles against No. 4 UCLA. Jacobson anchored MU s defense for the weekend and helped hold the Bruins to just three shots on goal. hot shooting: Marquette is outshooting opponents, 91-49 this season and own a 38-19 shots on goal advantage. The Golden eagles 91 shots ranks third amongst BiG east squads, while their 18.2 shots per game average ranks fourth. MU held Saint Mary s to just six shots in Friday night s contest, while tallying 20. Marquette is 3-0 this season when outshooting opponents. WelcoMe to the valley: The Golden eagles made their first appearance on their home field, Valley Fields on Friday against Saint Mary s and kept the home winning streak alive. Through the years MU has been tough to beat on its home pitch and own a 40-3-5 record throughout the past four seasons. The Golden eagles have not lost a game at Valley Fields since Oct. 30, 2011 when they fell to Notre Dame in a BiG east Tournament quarterfinals contest- a streak of 12 matches. JUst score goals: MU is hard to beat when scoring more than two goals in a game and are 3-0 this season with two or more goals scored. The Golden eagles defeated Portland State, 3-2, Oakland 4-1 and Saint Mary s 3-0.
