THURSDAY 2018/19 SESSION 1 IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR IP SESSION 1 Introduction- These lessons are designed to provide a jumping-off point where skaters can choose whether to pursue a recreational or competitive approach to the sport of figure skating. For those choosing to go on to competitive skating, Freestyle Ice is offered by the Essex Skating Facility. Additional Lessons and Practice Ice- Addition IP Lessons and Practice Ice for skaters are based on availability and never guaranteed. The maximum number of skaters allowed on the ice at a given time is 21. IP Lesson Guidelines- These IP lessons are for youth skaters up to 18 years of age. IP instructor assignments are based on instructor availability. Skaters with lowest-test levels will be given priority. If you plan to submit more than 1 lesson request mark one as 1st choice and one as 2nd choice Additional IP lesson requests must be paid by separate check. Additional practice ice requests must be paid by separate check. You will receive confirmation for your first choice IP lesson after registration closes on September 7. You will receive confirmation of additional lesson and practice requests by September 9. Freestyle Ice Program- Freestyle Ice is offered at the Essex Skating Facility on Tuesday and Friday nights. Vermont Skating Academy 2018/19 RELEASE AND WAIVER OF LIABILITY, ASSUMPTION OF RISK, AND INDEMNITY AGREEMENT In consideration of participating in activities, I represent that I, the minor s parent and/or legal guardian, understand the nature of figure skating activities ( activity ) and the minor s experience and capabilities and believe the minor to be qualified to participate in such activity. I acknowledge that if I believe event conditions are unsafe, I will immediately discontinue the minor s participation in the activity. I fully understand that this activity involves risks of serious bodily injury, including permanent disability, paralysis and death, which may be caused by the minor s own actions, or inactions, those of others participating in the activity, the conditions in which the activity takes place, or the negligence of the Releasees named below; and that there may be other risks either not known to me or not readily foreseeable at this time; and I fully accept and assume all such risks and all responsibility for losses, costs, and damages the minor incurs as a result of their participation in the activity. I hereby release, discharge, and covenant not to sue the Vermont Skating Academy, United States Figure Skating, it s directors, officers, administrators, sponsors, volunteers, agents, employees, staff, instructors, trainers, other participants and if applicable, owners and lessors of premises on which the activity takes place (each considered one of the Releasees herein) from all liability, claims, demands, losses, or damages on my account caused or alleged to be caused in whole or in part by the negligence of the Releasees or otherwise, including negligent rescue operations; and I further agree that if, despite this release, waiver of liability, and assumption of risk, I, or anyone on the minor s behalf, makes a claim against any of the Releasees, I WILL INDEMNIFY, SAVE AND HOLD HARMLESS each of the Releasees from any litigation expenses, attorney fees, loss liability, damage, or cost any Releases may incur as the result of any such claim.
