HARDMOORS 26.2 WHITE HORSE HALF ROUTE DESCRIPTION - 018 Follow Cleveland Way, keeping to the left hand path (right path is a bike trail) Ignoring any turnings to the left or right At path junction (after 1.9 miles) ignore fork to the left and continue ahead following Cleveland Way sign. Eventually pass by farm building on right (2.9 miles) stay on track Pass through gate and continue straight ahead crossing over road to reach CHECKPOINT 1 Pass by next gate following Cleveland Way sign into Boltby forest Pass through next gate and continue ahead on track. Pass through next gate and turn right onto lane Continue on lane uphill and ignore track to the left leaving lane. Pass through gate towards High paradise farm & continue on track keeping High Paradise farm to your right Follow track up to the gate, pass through gate to reach junction At junction continue straight ahead leaving the Cleveland way passing by an information board on your left. Pass through the gate and follow path alongside wall (on the right.) At end of field ignore gate to your right and pass through gate directly straight ahead of you. Continue straight ahead through next field. Pass through next gate Ignore gate to your right and continue ahead on track passing through next gate and then the next gate. Continue ahead towards barn & pass through gate on left of barn

Continue ahead on feint path downhill. Keep the remains of an old barn to your right and descend on track. Near the bottom of the descent follow the finger post and turn right onto a wide track. Continue on this track for 1 mile Pass through gate and join road to reach CHECKPOINT 2 Leave Checkpoint, turn right following road to pass Murton Grange on your right Continue ahead on road for 1.2 miles ignoring any paths or tracks off to the left or right. Follow road as it descends down to a ford. Cross ford and ascend the road until reaching a public footpath sign on your left. Follow the sign leaving the road to pass through a large wooden gate. Continue directly ahead on grass path Pass by and follow bridleway sign heading towards woods in the distance. Pass by next bridleway sign and enter woods. Pass through wooden gate and continue ahead on path for the next mile through woods. On reaching wooden gate pass directly through and follow path gradually descending. Pass the bath on your left and continue ahead through wooden gate to join the road Pass through next gate to join road Continue ahead on road ignoring gate to your right

Descend Hill on road and at the bottom of the hill take the track off the road on your left hand side Pass through gate and follow path Continue on duckboards alongside the river Pass through the gate and continue ahead along path Pass through next gate and turn left onto track Pass over bridge and continue on track Take footpath on the left (signed Rievaulx) passing through a gate Keep close to the river & pass through the next gate (slightly hidden) Continue across next field keeping close to the fence line on the left and heading directly towards the Abbey Pass through gate and continue ahead Pass through next gate and again keep straight ahead Pass through next gate left of the barn Pass through another bloody gate and turn right onto the road Continue ahead on the road passing the Abbey on your left On reaching the junction turn right to cross the stone bridge Continue along the road. Ignore the first turn off (Cold Kirby/Old Byland Rd) Leave the road with the turn off just after the bend (Signed Cleveland Way) Turn right through a gate following the forestry track.

Follow the track as it runs alongside a stream. Leave the track to cross the stepping stones on your right. Go through the gate and join the forestry track. At the junction of two forest tracks turn left up FlassenDale. At the break in the forest, turn right and climb steeply up a side gully.(signed Cleveland Way) On reaching the grass field continue ahead with fence on left. Follow Low field lane. When the lane takes a left bend turn right down a short slope and follow the track into Cold Kirby. (Signed Cleveland Way) Pass the Church on your left and continue straight through the village on the main road. After the last house on the left turn left along the lane called Cote Moor Road. (Signed Cleveland Way) Follow the lane as it turns right then left along the field edge to reach the forestry track, turn right and continue along the track. Continue ahead over the stile and follow the fenced path keeping Hambleton House to your right. Go through gate & turn left following Cleveland Way Sign After approximately 50metres turn right through gap in fence and follow path Footpath runs parallel to white stone cycle path (do not run on the cycle path) Cross over path, again following path alongside cycle path

When the path splits, continue on path (left fork) the right is cycle path only Follow signed footpath (Sutton Bank) at the gate go left to the footbridge, cross footbridge. Cross road to enter Sutton Bank Visitor Centre grounds & the Finish
