PAGE 3 Blue Ribbon ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Khloe Troup Blue Ribbon 4-H Club meeting was held on October 21 at the Cowboy Fellowship Church in Sinton. President Parker Seago called the meeting to order. Pledge of Allegiance was led by Wyatt Garza, 4-H Pledge by Mason Tannehill, Clayton Tucker led 4-H Motto and 4-H Prayer by Parker Seago. Megan Frerich gave the inspiration and Khloe Troup called attendance and read the minutes from September meeting. Ella Troup gave Treasures Report. Club played the game I love my neighbor that, which was led by Mason Tannehill. He also gave a report on membership and reminded everyone about club dues and registering on 4-H Connect. Connie Seago gave an update on the Sinton A&H Booster Club Annual $100 Dance saying it was a success. Parker Seago talked about the upcoming council meeting and the club elected Wyatt as our alternate council delegate. Club Manager Staci Frerich informed the club that the county food show has been moved to the spring and for members to watch newsletter for more information. Trunk or Treat was discussed and volunteers were asked to decorate and pass out candy at the event. She also asked that all poinsettia money be turned in. Club member Lexi Rodriguez gave a report on the One Day 4-H project of painting parking curbs and cleaning at the San Patricio Cowboy Church. Megan discussed National 4-H Week display at the Sinton Library. Mrs. Frerich also reminded everyone that if you aren t registered on 4-H Connect you will not be allowed to show, and that stock show entry cards & receipts of online payment are due by our next meeting. Meeting was adjourned and club members enjoyed snacks. ROCKING O 4-H CLUB YARD SALE November 10, 2018 Odem City Park Starting 7am Rocking O is also accepting donations for the yard sale. All donations can be dropped off to Adrian at the Extension Office by November 8. Thank you SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION Deadline: December 1, 2018 Texas Farm Credit would like to take this opportunity to invite 4-H members to submit their application to AgStudent of the Month program and Marsha Martin Scholarship program. Students may apply for both programs by completing one simple application. AgStudent of the Month: Each of Texas Farm Credit s 20 branches will recognize one outstanding student per month from January to April 2019. Winners will receive $100 Visa gift cards and will advance to the selection process for the Marsha Martin Scholarship. Texas Farm Credit will continue to award 5 Marsha Martin Scholarships in the amount of $2,000 each for graduating seniors who are involved in 4-H or FFA and are pursuing college degree in an agriculture-related field of study. These 5 scholarship recipients will be selected from the monthly AgStudent of the Month winners. In addition, each of the 5 Marsha Martin scholarship winners will also have a $500 contribution made in their honor to their 4-H Club or FFA Chapter. DISTRICT 11 4-H CROSSROADS November 8-10, 2018 Huntsville, TX This Year Crossroads workshops will include: Body in Motion, Animal Science, Forensic Science and Engineering Technology. All workshops will be hosted by the College of Agriculture at Sam Houston State University. When registering, youth need to select which workshop they prefer to attend. Important Reminders: All 4-H members planning to attend are required to register via 4-H CONNECT. Registration September 1 thru October 12 for $175. A late fee of $25 will be assessed from October 13 November 2. Late registrants may not receive a t-shirt. All participants will be required to turn in the Health questionnaire found on the Crossroads page. PAGE 5 ENROLLMENT BEGINS September 1 ENROLLMENT PROCESS FOR 2018-2019 Fee: $20 if signed up before October 31, 2018 $25 beginning November 1, 2018 http://texas4-h.tamu.edu/ 1. New Members: Create family profile by selecting the I need to setup a profile button. Returning Members: DO NOT CREATE A NEW PROFILE!!! Use your e-mail and password and access your established profile. If you have forgotten your e-mail and/or password or if you have any problems accessing your profile, contact your county Extension Office for assistance. 2. New Members: Add a youth and/or adult profiles under your family profile. As you enter information please make sure that all information is correct. Returning Members: Click on the Edit button beside profile name. Review and update all information pertaining to this profile. DO NOT JUST CLICK AND MOVE ON - CHECK IT ALL!! Incorrect information can jeopardize your ability to register for an event, receive school excused absences, not receive communications, etc. 3. Once all profile information is current and correct under the Personal Information, Additional Information, and Participation areas of enrollment continue to the Invoice page. 4. Review your invoice to ensure that the participation fee has been charged and it is correct. Once information has been reviewed, click continue to the Payment screen. 5. New Members: If you are new to 4-H, you can add your credit card payment information to 4-H CONNECT and it will be securely stored. To add a credit card click on the orange Add New Credit Card link. Returning Members: If returning please review your payment information for correct account numbers, expiration dates, security codes, etc. to ensure your payment will not be declined. Select the appropriate method of payment by clicking on the correct button, then click Select Payment Method. You will be sent to the Confirm page. 6. Confirm your participation fee by clicking the Confirm Order. Your pending enrollment will then be sent to the county office for review and acceptance. 7. When the county Extension Office receives your enrollment notice they will review all information and approve your membership. Payment must be made by credit card, the payment will be processed and if accepted your enrollment status will become ACTIVE.

Attendance for the 2019 Show starts in January, 2018. You must also meet UIL academic eligibility requirements by passing all of your classes. Start out the 4-H year right by attending club meetings and keeping your grades up! New 4-H members must also attend 60% of their club meeting, however, their club attendance begins on Sept. 1, 2018. Only new 4-H members will be allowed to count January 2019 attendance. The address needs to be corrected on the family profile AND in each individual s profile. ADULT VOLUNTEER BACKGROUND CHECK To protect our 4-H members, the Texas 4-H Program administers an adult screening program. This screening is conducted every 3 years. All adults who will be working directly with youth (other than their own children) must complete the adult registration form on 4-H Connect to be screened. Once their registration has been approved from the State office, then we can certify those adults as San Patricio County volunteers. Only those adults who have been screened and cleared through YPS will have the privilege of working with 4-H members. There is a $5 annual fee for each adult who will be a Volunteer. This fee is paid on 4-H Connect.
