OBJECTIVE The European American Basketball Network is organizing the first international Christmas Basketball 4 - Day tournament in the Topsporthall IISPA Almelo (Netherlands). The Main objective of this tournament is to provide the teams and more specifically the players a competitive event in which they can test and hone their skills in an international context. After successful completion of this tournament, the structure which was developed by our team will be used as a template for future tournaments. Our goal is to create a platform for young passionate, and dedicated athletes to showcase their talent and earn the right of a scholarship in American Universities. DATE The International Christmas Basketball Tournament (ICBT) will start on the 27 th of December and end on the 30 th of December 2017. The event will also offer fun games and contests for all players alongside the tournament. 27 th to 30 th of DECEMBER 2017 WHO WE ARE European American Basketball Network (EABN) is an international organization based in Netherlands that is engaged in individual basketball player development and growth. EABN has established connections with many Universities and basketball coaches in USA and works towards a clearly set goal develop a player to a level that he can play college basketball in NCAA. We believe that every player can achieve his potential if he is trained accordingly and has the right attitude. This year EABN in cooperation with Hanze University of Applied sciences is opening a basketball academy for young players to help them reach their full potential and push them to the next level NCAA basketball.
ACCOMODATION Option 1 Accommodation for all teams including coaches can be provided at minimal costs in the EABN Headquarter in Almelo. A shuttle bus will be connecting the accommodation and the sports hall every half an hour. Please bring air mattresses, camping mats, pillows etc. with you. One shower is available in the Headquarters and every team will have showers in their changing room at the sports hall. Note: At least one Adult per Team has to stay the night in the office. Option 2 If you are not willing to stay in the EABN headquarter there are two Hotels close to the venue: Van der Valk Theaterhotel and Huis Van Bewaring. a. Van der Valk Theaterhotel offers single and double rooms from 295 euro (3 nights and breakfast included). b. Huis van Bewaring offers single and double rooms from 260 euro (3 nights and breakfast included) AGE CLASSES, CRITERIAS AND REGISTRATION DEADLINE Both men and women are accepted at the event The upper age limit is 19 years old - please arrange exceptions with the organisation Registration deadline is on 15 December 2017. Teams registering after the deadline pay a penalty for extra effort scheduling the team ONLY a maximum of 12 teams will be ACCEPTED so hurry up and register! The catering will be provided by Verhuur en Catering Huisman Almelo. The caterer will serve fresh food every morning for the players to begin the day on a good note. This benefit will be included in the final package LUNCH AND DINNER There are several possibilities to get food near the Sportshall, but also the EABN-Headquarter. Any kind of Restaurant is at hand, so it is secured that everybody can get satisfied in their needs and wishes. In addition to that there are many supermarkets around, if you prefer to prepare your own food or want to get something quick to go. The cost for each team will be 350. Note: accommodation in the hotel will be at your own expense. Accomodation in the EABN Headquarters will be included in the price.
SPEECHES In order to provide even more value to the participants and viewers, we will include a professional speaker with a basketball background. His name is Chris B. Williams and he played basketball for several years on a high level in America, winning the MAAC Championships in 1993 amongst other achievements. Nowadays he owns a basketball academy which focuses on helping aspiring athletes to become better players as well as better human beings. His experience in playing basketball professionally and raising athletes into the next level will certainly aid the aspiring basketball players of the Netherlands in pursuing their own basketball career.
VENUE AND TRANSPORTATION The venue IISPA holds up to 1.500 people and upholds all international standards. It is easily accessible by car, bike and public transportation. Next to the sport hall are plenty parking spaces including indicated spaces for disabled people. VENUE MAP The bus stop Almelo, Stadion is right next to the venue, which makes it possible to easily walk the distance to the sport hall. The approximate location of the bus stop can be seen on the venue map.
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION FROM THE OFFICE To reach the venue from the accommodation, you can follow the path indicated on the map. It leads directly to the bus stop Almelo Centrumsplein. The bus stop is approximately 300 metres away from the office, which can be easily walked.
SHUTTLE SERVICE To give an additional, more convenient option we will offer a shuttle service. Two vehicles will commute from the office and the venue to their respective destinations. The time interval will be every 30 minutes. The distance between the two buildings is about 2.5 km, that means that the shuttle transportation will take about 6 minutes.
