Strang Driving/Juniors - Mr R. Sims All classes are open to ALL donkey owners whether DBS members or not. Affiliated to the Donkey Breed Society. This is a Donkey Breed Society Champion Donkey Status Show. The In Hand Champion automatically qualifies for the relevant championship at the DBS Annual Supreme Show 2017 providing they are a fully paid up member of the DBS. Qualifying Show for the South East Area Points Award and Summerhays Memorial Award Scheme. Closing date for Entries: 24th April 2017 Late entries taken after this date or on the show day at a charge of 50% extra. RULES 1. No responsibility is accepted for anything that may happen from any cause whatsoever to competitors, spectators, donkeys, dogs, mules, vehicles, or properties whatsoever. It is a condition of entry that each entrant shall agree to indemnify the organisers against any legal action from any cause whatsoever. 2. Whilst every effort will be made to run the show to time, exhibitors/competitors are asked to note that the times are approximate and that the organisers cannot be held responsible should any class clash. No class will start before the time stated. 3. The organisers have the right to alter classes and/or change judges, if necessary, without due warning. 4. The judge's decision is final. Objections to be lodged in writing to the Secretary s Office together with 10.00 deposit within 30 minutes of the end of the class concerned. If the objection is sustained the deposit will be refunded, otherwise it will be forfeited. 5. Stallions and entire colts must be properly dressed in a bridle and bit with a leading rein correctly attached to the bit and must be led by an adult. No person under the age of 18 may handle an entire donkey (foals excepted). No entire male donkey is allowed to compete in any junior class. 6. Junior competitors must be a minimum of 3 years old and must not have attained their 16 th birthday on or before the date of the show. 7. Ridden classes: Donkeys entered must be 4 years old or over and must have a correctly fitting bridle and saddle. All riders must wear an approved hard hat (PAS015) to conform to the current BSI standards. Both the ing weight and height restrictions shall apply to each category: Donkeys up to 10.2 hh Not over 8 stone and 4'0" Donkeys 10.2-11.0 hh Not over 8 stone and 4'6" Donkeys 11.0-12.0 hh Not over 9 stone and 5'0" Donkeys 12.0-14.0 hh Not over 10 stone and 5'6" Leading Rein Riders: All leading rein competitors must be led by an adult. The leading rein must be attached to the noseband. 8. Driving Classes: Donkeys entered must be four years old or over. Junior Whips aged 8 years or over are welcome to enter Driving classes. Junior Whips aged 8-10 years may only drive with a competent adult in the vehicle. Junior Whips aged 11-15 years may drive with a competent adult with a leading rein present in the ring. When a person of 17 years of age or under is driving a stallion an experienced Whip (18 years and over) must be in the vehicle at all times. 9. DBS members must carry their DBS membership cards at all times when showing, for production on request, in order to receive DBS rosettes. 10. All trophies to be signed for and returned to the Trophy Secretary by 15 th April 2018. 11. Entries - no entry fee will be returned except on production of a veterinary or doctors certificate. - No substitution of entries will be permitted. - The correct entry fee must accompany entry forms. (Cheques made payable to "South Eastern Donkey Show.) - Late entries may be made after the closing date, but a fee of 50% extra will be charged. 12. Please note that dogs are permitted in the show area but you are requested to have them under control at all times. 13. Donkeys in classes 7-12 are welcome to enter any other appropriate class.

Sims NB: *Junior competitors must be a minimum of 3 years old and must not have attained their 16th birthday on or before the date of the show. ** Juniors are judged on the capabilities of the child, not their donkey/s. The Junior Champion and Reserve will be competed for by the 1st and 2nd prize winners from Classes 14 and 15. Where a Junior has qualified in more than one section, they must choose whether they are competing as a Young Rider or Young Handler and present their donkey either In Hand or under saddle, in person. To SOUTH EASTERN AREA (JUNIOR) CHAMPIONSHIP To be competed for by the highest placed juniors in classes 14 16, where the handler resides in KENT, SURREY OR SUSSEX. The qualifying handler will be notified in each class. (No previous won rosettes to be worn in the ring). Champion: Follyoak Challenge Shield, Championship Rosette. Reserve Champion: Reserve Championship Rosette. TO FOLLOW ON AFTER THE IN HAND AND JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS HAVE TAKEN PLACE APPROX 12 noon. "THE BEST DRESSED DONKEY" Open to ALL competitors and donkeys (except Stallions). Donkeys, wearing only a bridle, are bought into the ring. There will be a selection of clothing/props for each competitor to choose from. Competitors will have 20 minutes to dress their donkey. Each competitor may have one person to hold the donkey and help. Donkeys will then parade for the judging. Junior Winner - The Thomas Challenge Trophy. Adult Winner - The Coming of Age Trophy. Special Rosettes to every entrant.

To BEST HOOF (FINAL JUDGING) Every Donkey or Mule participating in Classes throughout the day will be judged on the condition of their feet. Each Judge will nominate two candidates from each section (i.e. In-hand, Driving and Juniors) to come forward to be judged in this final. Winner: 25 and Rosette. The Farriers Trophy and certificate to be awarded to the Farrier responsible for the winning donkeys feet. All qualifiers to be awarded a special rosette.

20. To LONG REINING To be judged on donkeys obedience and handlers skill. The Halesbridge Tankard Trophy Rosettes to 4th place. DO NOT TIE HAYNETS TO THE SIDE OF LORRIES/TRAILERS. DO NOT LEAVE DONKEYS UNATTENDED TIED TO LORRIES/TRAILERS. PLEASE CLEAR UP DROPPINGS AND PUT IN THE BINS PROVIDED WHICH ARE LOCATED IN THE CAR PARKING AREA, BY THE SMOKING SHELTER.
