This entitles you to participate in up to 10 clubs, newsletters, 4-H Ontario magazines, and insurance. We will only be issuing newsletters by email this year so be sure we have an updated email address for you. Both members and a parent need to sign the registration forms, so please try to come together. To save time, go to the 4-H Ontario website and complete the participation agreement form and bring it with you. FAIR GROUND CLEAN UP DAY The Napanee Fair Board has asked for our help in cleaning up the fairgrounds. This involves lots of raking, picking up twigs and small branches that may have fallen down over the winter, maybe sweeping out buildings if they are empty and dusting. We start around 9:00am and work until about 12:00noon and then the fair board provides a pizza lunch. Work continues in the afternoon if we are not done. The fair board is very good to us over the year, providing us with buildings for meetings and other activities, providing prize money for all our shows at the fair, and this is one way we can help them, so let's all turn out on Saturday April 29th with rakes and brooms, dust cloths and elbow grease and lots of energy. Please wear sturdy shoes (no flip flops or sandals) and work gloves might be a good idea and dress for the weather. Parents are invited to stay and help and high school kids can get community hours for helping. If you have any questions, please call David at 613-378-0463.

Thank you to Tamworth and Enterprise Schools for welcoming David, Nan Keyes and Caitlyn to their schools to tell students and staff about 4-H. We had a great time talking to the students, doing activities with them and spreading the 4-H word. Youth leaders can be a valuable asset to a club while giving a member aged 15-21 the opportunity to expand their 4-H experience and get more involved in planning, organizing, leading and offering their knowledge to other members. Youth leaders also get 2 credits for a club they participate in. There are requirements such as training which all youth leaders must attend in 2017. These are done by webinar on the 1 st or 3 rd Tuesday of each month. Also youth leaders are required to complete a youth leader manual which needs to be signed off by the leaders of the club and then submitted to the Association to be approved. Please contact Megan Burnside at region3@4-hontario.ca for details on training. CLUB ELECTIONS As you hold your elections for the executive members of your clubs, please keep in mind that the reporter in your club is requested to send a story about the club s activities to the newsletter sometime during the club. It could be about a project you are working on, or one particular meeting or outing, just something to let the rest of the Association know how exciting your club is. A prize for the best story submitted will be given out at the Awards Ceremony. The secretary position is one which holds a lot of responsibility. To show our appreciation for the members who take on this position, we are holding a secretary s contest for the best kept set of minutes. It should contain attendance records and minutes of each meeting and may include pictures. Winner of this contest will receive $20 and all other entries will receive $5. Entries are to be submitted to Kathy by November 15, 2017 and the winner will be announced at the Awards Ceremony. If you elect a photographer in your club or if one of the leaders is the photographer, please be sure over the year to email photos to Kathy for inclusion in the newsletter and on our website. You will also want pictures to put on your club board for the fair. Be proud of your club and 4-H.
