U9 football Our u9 footballers have had a busy couple of Saturdays participating in 2 Rebel Og Monster blitzes. Both blitzes were played in glorious sunshine in Clonakilty (Sat 14th) & Inniscarra (Sat 21st). The lads are really benefitting from these games and are getting to play lots of other teams from different parts of the county which is a great experience for these young players. Teams we played in these blitzes included Castlehaven, Newcestown, Arigdeen Rangers, Kilmeen, St Marys, Inniscarra, Bishopstown, Douglas, Ballincollig & Sliabh Rua. Our thanks to Rebel Og GDAs Kevin O' Donovan & Colm Crowley for accomodating us in these well organized blitzes. All who participated put in superb displays against Tracton, Courcey Rovers, Crosshaven, Shamrocks and Sliabh Rua. In some tough and bruising games the boys defended brilliantly, took some outstanding scores and their catching, blocking, handpassing, kicking and teamwork was excellent throughout. We would like to thank the parents for supporting the boys at the blitzes and for bringing the boys to training. U8 training continues every Tuesday evening from 6pm to 7pm at Brinny where the boys work on the skills needed on match days and they are also encouraged to practice those skills at home. am Fixture Camogie Report Munster Camogie League v Kilruane McDonaghs in Kilruane Friday June 27th at 8pm Munster League Valley Rovers 0-7 Toomevara 2-5 Valleys travelled to Toomevara in Tipperary on Friday night to take on the home team and were unfortunate not to come away with a draw having lead the home side for 50 minutes of the contest. The half time score was 4 points to 1, but for their dominance Valleys should have been further in front. However Toomevara upped their game in the second half, but Valleys held firm. With 10 minutes to go Valleys lead on a scoreline of 7 points to 3. However a ball that came off the crossbar fell to a Toomevara player whose shot crept inside the post. Toomevara pointed soon after to draw level. In the final minute Toomevara were awarded a 45m which fell short and after Valleys failed to clear their line Toomevara scored their second goal and soon added a point to seal victory. This was a very strong contact match as there were many clashes of the ash that resulted in a number of camogie sticks being damaged and some being replaced. The first half even though evenly played, Valley rovers converted shots on target, and Sliabh could not convert. The second half got off to another great start, with both teams experiencing some great shots, Puck Outs, and saves. It was yet another half that saw Valley Rovers the only team to score again. The final score was Valley Rover 3-2, Sliabh Rua 0-0. We are so proud of them. Darragh O Shea who played with the Primary school team at half time in Pairc Ui Chaoimh at Satuday night.
