Austin Porter, email to Phillip and Tex, Sep. 20, 2018 / NEWLY SIGNED TCX RACER Allow me to start off by saying this first review is completely honest and I do believe you guys are working magic with these boots! I made a quick list of stuff I like and Dislike; PROS: LIGHTWEIGHT: Coming from bigger bulky boots in the past these feel very light on my leg BREATHABLE: TCX vent VERY well and not once did i feel like my sock was soaked with sweat SLIM: I could easily get my feet into a good aggressive position and tucked close to the frame with these boots which was amazing! COMFORT: Very comfortable and snug around my ankle and calf which I loved and it almost made me feel more safe MANEUVERABLE: These boots surprised me with how stiff they were out of the box that I could easily maneuver around the brake pedal and shifter with no delays and thats very important to me, they also had a quick break in period which I liked a lot Now for what I wasn t a fan of CONS: LAYERS UNDER THE STRAP: I m not super excited about all the layers underneath the the straps that you have to pull over and lay on top of each other and I feel it could be made simpler LARGE TOE BOX: In my opinion the TCX has a large toe box and almost feels loose in the toe area which takes away some confidence for me compared to other size 10 boots I ve worn SLIGHTLY STIFF BUCKLES: I m not sure this is even a downfall being that I know my buckles weren t going to unbuckle which I almost like but I have known people to shop for boots based on buckle down smoothness I guess you could call it (haha) with that being said I think a smoother more snappy buckle design could be implemented I will be sending out updates monthly as I break these boots in a little more but honestly I m surprised, I loved my old pair of boots so much that I thought the comfort and fit would be hard to beat but you guys definitely blew them out of the park! Looking at the schedule at the beginning of the year, it s probably my least-favorite track to come to, honestly. I went in with a good mindset though, and I did a lot of practice this week so I could do better at it. I think I honestly performed well. It s a short track so you never know what s going to happen. I put myself in a bad spot in my Heat race, and that kind of put me behind all day. Then I was on the second row for the Main event. It took me a while, but I made quite a few passes. I was able to get up to eighth at one point, and then I kind of got knocked around at the end. So, I m happy. There were a lot of riders who crashed and I was able to make it through clean all day. I m looking forward to returning to the bigger tracks for the rest of the season. We were fastest in all of practice and qualifying, and I won my Semi with a little gap back to second. Sadly, we just came up a bit short in the Main. We got a bad start and the track changed a lot between the Singles Semi 1 and the Main. I searched throughout the whole Main event, but was never able to find the line that I needed to pass and work my way up. It s unfortunate, but absolutely a step in the right direction for me.
