The fair will be held from 3rd to 7th October 2012. INTERMOT s programme of events will occupy Koelnmesse's entire outdoor space 75,000 m² in all as well as special areas in the exhibition halls. Visitors will be able to take the new models for a spin on the various test tracks and experience exciting motorcycle racing and the breathtaking stunt shows of the professionals. The INTERMOT Cologne 2012 programme of events at a glance: ONLY ON THURSDAY AND FRIDAY: The Viva la Mopped roadshow will offer test rides to everyone on the INTERMOT racetrack On Thursday and Friday, INTERMOT will play host to the Viva la Mopped roadshow, which will offer visitors the opportunity to test ride and compare just about every kind of motorcycle, including touring motorcycles, cruisers, classic bikes, sport motorcycles and scooters. Organized in small groups, riders can try out their favourites. The Viva la Mopped roadshow is the largest test riding course in the world that features different brands. invitational race; the second race in the Supermoto Endurance World Championship Series; demonstration races; and scooter, minibike and pocketbike races. The second LEV World Championship and the Electric Scooter World Championship will also be on the programme. The Electric Scooter World Championship Series race will deliver top-notch racing on scooters powered by alternative drives. 2/6 Performances by international stunt and freestyle MX riders will round off the event nature of this area. Freestyle MX The action troupe will perform breathtaking motocross jumps on motorbikes nearly 20 metres above the ground. The best freestylers will be flying at the exhibition centre during the day a good warm-up for Saturday evening s NIGHT of the JUMPs at the LANXESS Arena, where the FIM Freestyle MX World Champion and the FMX European Champion will be determined. Stunt shows with star stunt riders This is where the best riders will take the laws of physics and stand them on their heads or on their back tires, at least. Before throngs of spectators at the INTERMOT outdoor area, the who s who of the stunt riding scene will be on hand. Riders including Christian Pfeiffer, Oliver Ronzheimer, Rainer Schwarz and Kevin Carmichael will be giving the public a thrilling show. In addition, at regular intervals the race track will serve as a drag racing strip, where the professional drag racer Herman Jolink will be showing off the mighty acceleration of his specially tuned Ducati. Competitive riding skills will be called for in the gymkhana shows a task-based motor racing contest that involves conquering a preset obstacle course. The Action Team from Motorrad magazine will be there to negotiate the obstacles of the course as fast as they can, first forwards and then backwards. Action, safety and more you ll be impressed! Test tracks: The LEV/ electric test track will invite you to try out the experience. Only those who test the vehicles can appreciate the potential and freedom that
electric mobility has to offer. The entrance to the test track is in Hall 5.2. Younger visitors to INTERMOT Cologne will be able to try out something just their size on the mini-tracks for kids. Under expert supervision, they ll have the chance to test their sporting skills riding minibikes, miniquads and children s bicycles on a variety of test tracks. The quad test track will offer the fun of riding a two-wheeler to everyone looking for something a bit different. Experience the freedom of sitting on a motorcycle seat but being surrounded by four wheels. Experienced bikers will be able to test ride the big knobby-tired enduro bikes on the enduro and dual-sport course. This is where you will get a taste of the Paris-Dakar rally under the supervision of experts. Riding without a license will offer anyone who doesn t have a license the chance to ride a motorbike for the first time in their lives under expert guidance. INTERMOT Cologne will offer newcomers and anyone who is returning to motorcycling after an extended absence the opportunity to try out scooters, choppers and street bikes between 50 cc and 125 cc on the refresher track. Nearly 200 of the best motorcycles will await you on the big test track from every brand, in every displacement category! Anyone with a valid motorcycle licence will be able to test these bikes, which range in size from one to six cylinders, under the guidance of experienced instructors. The fastest rider won t necessarily win the ADAC Biker Cup race only the one who guides his machine through the demanding course without any errors. First prize will be a Ducati along with a number of other attractive prizes! 3/6 Supporting programme indoor activity areas Young Action in Hall 5.1 is the hall for the kids, where everything revolves around the wheel! For the littlest ones there will be a professionally staffed kindergarten the place for kids to play, paint, dance and roughhouse while their parents explore the trade fair! There will also be a test course/traffic training park supervised by the Verkehrswacht (German traffic safety organization), where young visitors can practice their skills in street traffic situations in a playful way. Visitors to Hall 5.1 will also have the opportunity to marvel at the INTERMOT photo competition Motorradwelten (Motorcycle worlds). Motorcycles are a favourite motif for photographers but the motorcycle world that surrounds them is also a wonderful subject for photography. European photographers both amateur and professional
are called upon to take part in this special photo competition and submit their pictures on this theme. The e-bike show stage & e-motion will expand on the theme of electromobility with a specialized supporting programme. On the stage of the BVA Media Group, which is a partner of INTERMOT, all of your questions about e-bikes will be answered. 4/6 At the sports theme island in Hall 10.1, motor sport fans will have a chance to meet professional bikers and their highly tuned machines. PS magazine will bring all of the current four-stroke racing motorbikes to the starting line and thrill visitors several times a day with endurance race pit stops. Tanks will be filled and tires changed in less than 20 seconds. The show riders camp will also be on display in Hall 10.1. A real race has to include the service trucks of the racing teams. Paddock Allee will serve as the perfect backdrop for these trucks. The Cologne Custom Championship is a spectacular must-see event for all fans of customizing. Designers and bike builders will show what creativity and talent can accomplish at this competition organized by the Huber Verlag publishing house in Hall 10.1. Visitors to INTERMOT will be able to vote for their champions in five categories: Chopper/cruiser, fighter, sport bike, café racer and scooter. Best of all, the top three winners in each class will automatically be qualified for the Customizing World Championship, and the five first place winners will also receive a 500 bonus for travel expenses. The central show stage in the middle of Hall 10 will offer spectators an interesting and spectacular programme full of worthwhile information from different areas such as sport and customizing. The stars from the sector will also be there, close enough to touch! Along with impressive presentations there will be autograph sessions and on-stage events with professional riders. Dreams, destinations, adventure special touring motorcycles make it is easy to travel through countries and across continents, and they make every destination a rich experience. In Hall 10.1 TOURENFAHRER magazine will be presenting more than 40 touring motorbikes of all brands, models and equipment types, plus the right gear to take on your next journey, in the Touring special show. On the connected TOURENFAHRER stage, seasoned world travellers, travel journalists and photographers will be on hand to speak
about their experiences. Not far from this special show, the Tourism Centre will feature travel agencies that specialise in motorbike journeys. There will be information about the attractions and hotels in the most important holiday regions for motorcyclists. 5/6 For over half a century, motorcycles have been delivering the stuff that dreams are made of dreams that are especially nice to remember. That s a good reason for Motorrad magazine to present its readers with a choice of 90 potential dream bikes to vote on. At INTERMOT the models chosen as the winning machines will be displayed in a motorcycle dream bike special exhibition in Hall 8. The Motor Britannia show area in Hall 10 will display popular British manufacturers and brands such as Ace Cafe London and Red Torpedo. This area will offer visitors an absolutely authentic environment with a unique character. Other events associated with INTERMOT: NIGHT of the JUMPs Title fight in Freestyle Motocross On 6th October the best of the best will show their skills in Cologne s LANXESS Arena. The NIGHT of the JUMPs is the most extreme Freestyle Motocross series and the worldwide standard against which all similar events are measured. Freestyle superstars will battle it out for two titles. In just one night, the FIM Freestyle MX World Champion and the FMX European Champion will be named. For all guests of the NIGHT of the JUMPs there is a special combination ticket. MOGO Pastor Erich Fähling and the MOGO team are
looking forward to greeting thousands of bikers on Saturday, 6th October at 10 a.m. in front of the magnificent backdrop of Cologne Cathedral.
