The Bulldogs currently hold a 7-5 edge over the Leopards in the all-time series, including Yale s 85-73 win at Kirby Sports Center last season. LAST MEETING: Lafayette trailed by 12 points at halftime in its meeting with Yale on Jan. 3, 2000, but was able to go up by two with just under 13 minutes left in the contest. However, timely three-point shooting by the Bulldogs buried the Leopards as Yale pulled ahead for the win. Liz Rojahn had 18 points in the defeat while Jen Bayer recorded a double-double with 17 points and 14 boards. NEXT UP: Lafayette returns home for a non-conference battle with Air Force on Sunday at noon. THE COACHES CHES Leopard Head Coach Pat Fisher (East Stroudsburg 60) is the winningest coach in the history of Lafayette College basketball. She has led the program to a 291-267 mark (.521) since arriving on College Hill. She earned East Coast Conference (ECC) Coach of the Year honors three times, while leading the Leopards to conference titles in 1984-85 and 1986-87. Fisher is assisted by LaRonda Murphy (Saginaw Valley State 91), Dean Dedopoulos (North Adams State 79) and Val Davis (Kutztown 83). The Yale program is headed up by second-year coach Amy Backus (Central Michigan 79). Backus guided the Bulldogs to an 11-16 overall mark and a 7-7 Ivy League record last season. She is joined on the bench by assistant coaches Terri Schrishuhn (Millikin 90), Pam Bass (Brown 91) and Joanna Wolkowski (Middlebury 99). Probable Starters Ht. Cl. It is the team s first non-tournament road game of the season and its first of two away games for Lafayette in the month of December. Lafayette travels to Maryland on Dec. 22 for its last game before the winter break. LAF AFAYET YETTE TE VS. THE IVY LEA EAGUE Yale is the second of three Ivy League teams on the Leopards schedule this season, as the team comes off its win over Princeton on Wednesday. Lafayette holds the edge in games against the Ivies, compiling a record of 43-41 since the program s establishment in 1972. Pennsylvania is the third and final of the Ivy League opponents that Lafayette will meet this season in a game that is scheduled for Jan. 20 on the Leopards home court. Lafayette versus the Ivy League schools: Brown...2-1 Cornell...6-4 Harvard...1-0 Princeton...14-13 Columbia...0-0 Dartmouth..2-4 Pennsylvania..13-11 Yale...5-7 A N A NIGHT TO REMEMBER Lafayette s 58-48 win over Princeton on Wednesday not only gave the Leopards their third win of the season, it also established new career-highs for two members of the squad. Sophomore center Jen Bayer broke her previous career mark of 16 rebounds with an amazing 19 board outting against the Tigers. She also recorded her 13th career double-double and second of the season, adding 10 points in the Lafayette victory. Also setting new career marks was sophomore reserve guard Kim Costello. Often used as a shooting spark off the bench, Costello collected a new scoring mark, with 18 points including five threes, to go along with a career-high seven rebounds. THE YALE BULLDOGS Yale enters the matchup with the Leopards with a record of 2-5 on the season. After winning their first game of the season against Boston at the Boston University Tournament, the Bulldogs went on to lose five consecutive games to Baylor, North Texas, Texas Christian, Sacred Heart and Quinnipiac before notching their second win of the season on Wednesday over Hartford, 57-53. Last season, Yale led the Ivy League in overall scoring but the Bulldogs were only able to break the 60-point plateau once so far this season, and that was in their opening season win over Boston. P A T F I S H E R YEAR-BY-YEAR DEMANDING RESP ESPECT ECT Senior point guard Christel Rocha has jumped back into the Leopards starting lineup after a year s hiatus from the team and has proven her worth as the squad s floor general. Rocha is averaging 12.7 points, 4.0 rebounds and 30.0 minutes per contest. The Lansing, Mich., native tied a game-high 18 points in Lafayette s victory over Princeton on Wednesday, while collecting eight rebounds, three assists and three steals. Not to be overlooked in the backcourt is starting shooting guard Megan Haughey. The freshman from Pittstown, N.J., can often be found scrambling on the floor for a loose ball or picking off opponents passes, recording a team-high 14 steals on the season. ROJAHN INJUR NJURY UPDA PDATE TE PAGE 2 Elizabeth Rojahn, Lafayette s second-leading scorer last season, has not been able to dress for a game yet this season due to a lower back injury suffered in mid- September. The 5-10 forward started all the Leopards 29 contests last season, averaging 11.3 points and 3.9 rebounds as a freshman. Rojahn is currently listed as day-to-day and will not compete against Yale.
