GC32 ALPS CHALLENGE TRAUNSEE 2016 May 12th 15th of May 2016 NOTICE OF RACE
1. ORGANISATION The GC32 ALPS CHALLENGE 2016 is organised from the 9th to the 16th of May 2016 in Traunsee by PROFS Consulting GmbH, in partnership with the GC32 International Class Association. 2. RULES 2.1. The event is governed by : - The rules as defined in the ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) amended as per Appendix 6 of the GC32 Racing Tour Rules. - GC32 Class Rules and interpretations - GC32 Racing Tour 2016 Rules Appendix 1-6 2.2. The advertising rules will apply in accordance with Regulation 20 of the ISAF Advertising Code, as modified by the GC32 Racing Tour 2016 Rules Appendix 1-6. Identification (stickers over 25% of the forward section) will be presented by the organisation and must be visible on the boat throughout the event. It is the competitors responsibility to adhere this identification and to maintain it in good condition. 2.3. Solely the documents listed in 2.1, Notice of Race, Sailing Instructions, amendments written and signed by the Race Committee are deemed as official. 2.4. The official language is English. 3. ELIGIBLE CLASSES 3.1. The event is open for GC32 s registered by the GC32 International Class association. 3.2. The Organisation Committee reserves the right to accept or refuse a registration (rule 76.1 of the RRS). 3.3. The organisers may, as a result of force majeure or if it is necessary for the participants safety, decide to cancel the running of the event. Cancellation for reasons of force majeure or for any other grounds outside the control of the organisers, will not incur any refunding of registration fees or compensation. The same scenario would also be true, though this list is in no way restrictive, in the event of exceptional weather conditions, armed conflict, requisition, fire, flooding, strikes or the blocking of facilities, whose origin is unknown and totally outside the control of the organisers.
4. REGISTRATION 4.1. Teams shall register with the GC32 International Class Association until the 10 th of March.2016. 4.2. Crew registration and weighing shall be complete before Tuesday 10 th of May 18.00 latest. 4.3. Each member of the crew must present the following when they register : - Proof that they belong to a National Authority that is a member of ISAF. - Parental consent for those participants under 18. 4.4. A sail declaration for the 2016 season shall be made Tuesday 10 th of May 18.00 latest. 5. SCHEDULE 5.1. Event schedule : May Monday 9 th Monday 9 th to Tuesday 10 th Wednesday 11 th Thursday 12 th to Friday 13 th Saturday 14 th Schedule 09.00 to 18.00: Craning, registration, measurement, sail declarations, crew registration and weighing at (Yacht Club Ebensee). 08.00 to 18.00: Registration, measurement, crew registration and weighing at (Yacht Club Ebensee). 10.00: Skippers briefing Training MEDIA DAY (Seehotel DAS TRAUNSEE) plus Sponsor-Incentive on-board 09.30: Skippers briefing at the VIP tent 11.00 to 16.00: Fleet Racing 11.00 to 16.00: Match Racing Round Robin Sunday 15 th 09.30: Skippers briefing at the VIP tent 11.00 to 15.00: Semi-finals and Finals Match-Racing Approx. 17.00: Prize giving 5.2. One boat per day will be hauled out after each day of racing. A draw for the schedule will be done at the briefing on Wednesday 11 th of May 2016. 5.3. The boats participating in the event will be berthed free of charge at the Yacht Club Ebensee from Saturday 7 th of May until Wednesday 11 th of May and moored in Gmunden from Wednesday 11 th of May until Sunday 15 st of May.
5.4. A container / trailer park will be set up at the Yacht Club Ebensee from Friday 6 th of May until Wednesday 11 th of May and in Gmunden from Wednesday 11 th of May until Sunday 15 st of May. Teams have to inform about their dates of arrival at least 2 weeks before. 5.5. Race Office will be located from Tuesday 10 th 10.00 until Sunday 15 th at 18.00 in Gmunden. 5.6. The presence of the skippers is mandatory at briefings and prize-giving as defined in the event schedule. 6. SAFETY EQUIPMENT 6.1. All the participating yachts must comply with the legislation of their country. 6.2. The GC 32 crews must wear helmets and personal flotation device for racing. Each crew shall carry a personal knife at all times whilst racing. 7. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS The Sailing Instructions will be available on Monday 9th of May 2016. 8. COURSES AND RACING ZONES See appendix 1 8.1. Windward/leeward courses and coastal courses will be raced. 9. PENALTIES According to the GC32 Racing Tour 2016 Rules Appendix 6. 10. SCORING 10.1. The Low Point System described in Appendix A of the RRS will apply. 10.2. The general standing will be made by the score of all races, sailed and validated.
11. PRIZES 11.1. The principal prize for the first place will be the GC32 Alps Challenge Traunsee Trophy presented by Oberösterriech. 11.2. The total prize money will be 30 000 divided as follows: First prize 15 000 Second prize 10 000 Third prize 5 000 11.3. These prizes have been approved by the national authority. Under Austrian tax law 20 % will be deducted for competitors who are not resident in Austria. Competitors running a business in Austria there will be required to pay VAT at 20 %. There will be no deduction for Austrian residents but it is their obligation to report their income to their tax authority. 11.4. The OA may reduce a prize in case of misconduct or refusal to comply with any reasonable request, including attendance at official functions. 12. PROTESTS The decisions of the international jury will not be subject to appeal as set down in rule 70.5 of the RRS. 13. BERTHING Boats must remain in their assigned berths in port. 14. HAUL-OUT RESTRICTIONS GC32 shall not be hauled out during the event, unless subject to and according to the terms and schedule of the OA. 15. RESPONSIBILITES OF THE ORGANISER AND COMPETITORS 15.1. It is the responsibility of each competitor to decide, for himself or herself, whether he or she should take the start or remain racing. 15.2. The skippers are personally responsible for any material or physical accident affecting their boat or crew. It shall be the skipper s sole responsibility to take out all the necessary insurance.
15.3. With regards to the application and interpretation of the texts in the documents referred to 2.1 of the Notice of Race and the settling of any related disputes therein, registration of the yacht implies giving up any right to appeal other than those indicated in the RRS. 16. USE OF RIGHTS The owner or user of the yacht and any possible sponsor, by the sole fact of their participation, assigns the organiser the unrestricted right and permission to use, for promotional purposes or other, any text, photo or video footage relating to their participation in the event to be published or broadcast via the press, television or internet (non exhaustive list). 17.
