Rally information KAK-Midnattssolsrallyt 28 th June 1 st July 2017 The Royal Automobile Club (KAK) great s competitors, officials, sponsors, co-operators and spectators heartily welcome to the Midnight Sun Rally 2017. The rally is driven as a national competition for Historic Rally and Regularity, both Swedish and foreign competitors are welcome. The Midnattssolsrallyt is a part of the Swedish National Championship; Historic Cars. The City of Vimmerby will be the centre of the competition. The three legs starts each day from Vimmerby, one leg to the west, one leg to the southeast and one leg to the north east. Preliminary schedule Friday 14 th April Friday 5 th May Monday 8th May Friday 12 th May The regulations will be published and the entry opens at the Bilsport Performance & Custom Motor Show at Elmia, Jönköping. It will be possible to enter the competition at the Show. The entry closes. The entry list will be published. Latest day of payment of the entry fee Tuesday 27 th June in Vimmerby 16.00 Reporting, Service Park and Rally Info opens Wednesday 28 th June in Vimmerby 08.00 13.00 Reporting is open. 09.00 15.00 Scrutineering Historic Rally and Regularity. If the weather permit s the scrutineering will take place at Stora Torget. 16.30 The cars with their teams have to be placed at Storgatan. 17.00 The official opening of the KAK Midnattssolsrallyt 2017 at Stora Torget. 18.00 SS 1 starts. Thursday 29 th June in Vimmerby 08.00 The first car stars on leg 1, which is heading south from Vimmerby. App. six stages of 60km. Traditional lunch break. 16.00 The first car finishes leg 1 and service in Vimmerby.
Friday 30th June in Vimmerby 08.00 The first car starts on leg 2 which is heading west from Vimmerby. App. eight stages of 55 km. Traditional lunch break. 15.30 The first at service in Vimmerby. 18.30 First start SS Vimmerby Saturday 1 st July in Vimmerby 07.30 The first car stars on leg 3, which is heading east from Vimmerby. App. five stages of 55 km. Traditional lunch break. 1430 The first carat the finish of the rally in the centre of Vimmerby. 19.30 Mingle and welcome drink. 20.00 Prize giving ceremony and banquet. Rally info The Rally info will be opened the whole time, from reporting to finish. The Competitors Relations Officers will be present at the lunch breaks; they will answers your questions and provide you with the results. The Service Parc It is not compulsory to have the competition cars in the Parc Fermé Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (28/6 30/6) after finish of each leg. This means that the cars may be parked at its service area during the nights. This gives the public, sponsors and others the possibility to visit the service area during the evenings together with the teams and their cars. It is prohibited to take the car away from its service area with out a special permit. There will be guarded area in which the car may be parked if you do not want have you car at the service area. Cars entered in Regularity may be used to transport the crew to and from their overnight lodging. N.B. New measure of service area. At the service area each team competing in Historic Rally will have a space of 5 x 8 m. Regularity teams without service has a smaller area. If increased area is needed; this may be arranged if space is available, to a cost of 100:- SEK/ square meter. Electricity The need of was much greater than expected last year. This caused a lot of problems for each and every one and increased the cost for the organisers. And because of this electricity is included in the entry fee 2017, which may be excluded by the entrant. There will be service areas along the route; each team will receive one Service Roadbook. The restaurant at the service park will be open during the competition. Competitors The total number of competitor may not exceed 200, divided between Historic Rally and Regularity. An important part of this historic competition is pleasant social life and exchange between competitors and teams. The rally will be a unique experience for everybody that takes part. The KAK Midnattssolsrallyt claims its right to eliminate freely.
Media KAK Midnattssolsrallyt will before and during the rally present press releases. www.midnattssolsrallyt.com and facebook.com/midnightsunrally will continuously be updated with information and reports. KAK Midnattssolsrallyt will provide the local press with stories about drivers and cars. During the rally week the Rally radio will broadcast. Advertising It is allowed to have advertising on the car, but not at the front wings, the front doors and the upper side of the front window. These areas are reserved for the advertising provided by the organiser of the Midnattssolsrallyt. Advertising regarding alcohol and tobacco is prohibited. Starting order Regularity starts first; and then Historic Rally in seeded order, with the fastest team starting last. On the following legs will Regularity starts first and in the same order during the whole competition, but Historic Rally starts the fastest team last according to the results. If you retire on a leg you may start on the next leg with a time penalty. Special stages The special stages are driven on gravel roads, of good standard, except a few percentages on tarmac. The rally has a preliminary length of 800 km, with appr. 175 km special stages. Timekeeping The timing on the special stages is on tens of a second. Timing for Regularity is made by GPS. Roadbook The rally is driven according to a roadbook on the liaison stages and special stages. Prise giving At the finish on Saturday 1 st July, may some of the prices be given at the finish ramp. The main part of the prices is given at the price giving banquet which starts at 20.00.
In the ladies class; Regularity and Historic rally, are the competitors competing of the Ewy Rosqvist challenge trophy. In Regularity class Elite is the ladies trophy given to the best lady. To compete in the ladies class it is sufficient that the driver is a lady. Ordering of food The will be opportunities to order extra breakfast-, lunch-, dinner- and banquet tickets to your service crew, sponsors, guests and so on. The order must be done at the same time as you are paying the entry fee. Hotel KAK Midnattssolsrallyt has an agreement with several hotels in Vimmerby during the rally week. When you make your booking you must use the code Midnattssolsrallyt to get the prises the organiser has negotiated. There will be a limited number of rooms at our disposable. Detailed information has been send to previous competitors and is also available on our homepage. Camping There will be camping possibilities close to the service area. KAK Midnattssolsrallyt cannot guarantee that there will be room for a motorhome or a caravan at your service area, but we will do our outmost to find the best solution for all. Showers and toilets are available close to the service area. Entry fee The entry fee is 15 500 SEK for Historic Rally and Regularity including one service pack. The following is included: 1 Road book. 1 Program including map. The Service pack includes the following: 1 Service roadbook with GPS co-ordinates 1 Program including a map 1 Service sign 2 ID-cards for the mechanics As a competitor you may order one extra service pack to the cost of 600SEK. To enter the Service Parcs you need to have a service sing on the service vehicle. Regularity In Regularity you may compete with a normal standard car (sales car) and rally cars made 1985 or earlier. KAK Midnattssolsrallyt 2017 is a national event and because of this there are no special requirements of for example FIVA passes. Regularity is precision rally driving, driven on liaison stages where normal traffic rules apply and on closed special stages (SS) where competition rules apply. The special stages shall, in its total length, be driven on an average speed desired by the organisers. The average speed will be controlled by a number of hidden controls as well as at the finishing line of the special stage. Competition classes In Regularity, the competitor themselves chose the class they will compete in. Class Elite is suitable for the more experience teams, and class Sport is suitable for teams which have the adventure in front of the competition. Both classes compete according to the same rules, but there will be differences in the degree of difficulty. In Class Sport the average speed will be 50km/h whit a few exceptions. In Class Elite will be 50 60 km/h depending on the given permit, and with a few exceptions. Rules The competitors in the Regularity classes must obey the given average speed. If the competitor at several occasions exceed the given average speed; will the team at first be given a warning and then is exclusion in force. This will restrain the competitors to ignore the rules regarding Regularity. If the competitor will drive fast; they have to enter the rally classes. Trip meter an helmets Mechanic or electronic trip meters are allowed, but the trip meter in use has to be in original condition and without any modifications, and under no circumstances show the average speed. The organizer claims their right to check the equipment at any point during the rally. Violation of this rule will lead to exclusion. In open car the use of helmets is imperative at the special stages. Calibration of trip meters
The will be a measured distance to be used to calibrate the trip meters before start. Electronic equipment It is prohibited, in the competing car, to bring along or use electronic devices to be used for navigation or measuring the average speed; for example GPS devices, mobile phones, electronic time schedule. A mobile phone may be brought along, but has to be turned off and out of reach during the special stages. The cars equipment and tires Cars permitted to take part are made before 31 st December 1985. The car has to be equipped with; a first aid kit, fire-extinguisher (min. 2 kilos), warning reflecting triangle and safety belts. It is allowed to have other chairs, belts and safety equipment mounted. Normally is standard cars used, but it is allowed to compete with a historic rally car or a rally car in appearance. Use of standard- or rally tires is free. Licenses The Regularity crew consists of minimum two competitors; and the co-driver has to be at least 13 year old. A valid rally license (or a temporary license) for the driver and minimum a co-driver license (or a temporary license) for the co-driver shall be presented during the reporting. Historic Rally The classes is divided into the following categories; Category 1 to Category 6 for historic rally cars, up until the 1990 years model. The cars are divided into classes according to year of make and cylinder volume. The cars and crew shall be equipped with the safety equipment according to the valid competition regulations. The fastest cars on the special stages is the class winners and the fastest car of all is the total winner. In the KAK Midnattssolsrallyt class Historic Rally may only cars with a valid HTP may take part. The HTP must be presented at the scrutineering. Every competitor in Category 6 must take a personal mail contact with the organizer to get a permit. Pace notes The KAK Midnattssolsrallyt will not permit own pace notes and will not provide with organizers pace notes. The organizer claims their right to check if pace notes is used any time during the rally. Licenses To take part you must have a valid rally driver license. The co-driver must have at least a valid co-driver license. It is up to the competitors to obtain this licenses in due time.
