Maximum Adventure would like to welcome all runners and their families to Western Sydney along the Parramatta River for the inaugural Three Bridges Run. Located just 30 mins West of Sydney CBD, the winding Parramatta Valley shared use path provides the perfect track for this fast, flat road run event, taking in the sites of George Kendall Riverside Park, Meadowbank Park, Rhodes Point and Newington Nature Reserve. These instructions contain all the information you need for race day. Make sure you read them carefully! 1. Parking Parking is available at P1 near the Event Centre on the university campus. Refer to map below. All visitors are required to display a valid parking permit on the front windscreen of their vehicles. A daily rate of $7.00 per vehicle per day is applicable. This cost is not included in your entry fee. We recommend carpooling where possible. Dedicated event traffic marshals will direct traffic on arrival, please follow their directions. 3. Transport to Western Sydney University Parramatta South Campus Due to the central location of the Event Centre at Parramatta, there are plenty of transport options and includes train, bus or taxi/ride share vehicles should you choose. For full details of train/bus timetables and to plan your trip we recommend using Trip Planner. 4. Registration The registration tent is located on the main oval of the university campus. Refer to map below. Registration is only open on the event morning from 6am onwards. Please note that no race numbers are posted beforehand, you must report to registration to receive your race number before your race briefing and allocated start time. When you report to registration please provide the registration official with your Photo ID. The official will check your name against the competitor list, issue you with a race number (with attached timing tag) and safety pins. All participants must report to registration before they can start the race. If you have ordered any Tailwind Endurance Fuel please collect from registration. Entry Transfers and Course Changes Last minute entry transfers (as well as course upgrades and downgrades) can now only be done on race morning at registration. Replacement runners are required to bring along the entry registration confirmation (on email or hard copy) from the original runner, head to the Entry Transfers/Changes line at registration to complete the transfer or course change. On the day entry transfers will incur a $20 transfer fee (payable by the new runner), cash preferred. Exchange of funds for original race entry fees will be a private transaction between the two runners. Please allow extra time to complete this at registration on race morning. To save time, we suggest you pre-complete the form HERE and bring along with you. Course upgrades will incur the entry fee difference, cash preferred. Course downgrades will not be refunded. Race Numbers At registration you will be issued with your race number and safety pins. Insurance Maximum Adventure is covered by its own public liability insurance. This does not include personal accident insurance. It is strongly recommended that you take out your own personal accident and ambulance cover for the event. Your private health insurance policy may include this, but you will need to check with them. 3. 7. National Electronic Parks Race Pass Timing The Three Bridges Run will be timed by the professionals from Precision Timing. A timing tag will be attached to the back of your race number. Please do not fold or move this timing tag otherwise it will not work correctly. It is important that you wear your race number and attached timing tag on your chest, attached to clothing using the provided safety pins. The timing tag will automatically record your Start and Finish time. Please note that line Honours and Category winners will be based on gun time. So if you think you are in with a chance of a podium position, make sure you start at the front of the field. Mid-race timing splits will be recorded at a number of spots along the course and displayed with the final results released the week after the event on the event website. 8. Start Procedure & Times Start times for each distance: - 28km course at 7:00am - 21km course at 7:10am - 8km course at 8:00am All course distances will have a mass start of all runners. The start is self-seeded so please line up according to your goal finish time and running ability. Please give way to faster runners where possible. Three Bridges Run Sun 4 th November 2018 Page 5
9. Course Signage Course Markers Course markers, surveyors tape and hazard tape will be placed along the course to provide information and point you in the correct direction. Where there is a junction or ambiguous section, confirmation arrows will guide you along the course. Critical intersections will be manned by race officials please follow their directions. Runners must look out for red on white arrows and wrong way signs, pink surveyors tape and caution and distance signage. The course will be marked as follows: Directional arrows will be located on the turn. Pink surveyors tape will be attached to trees after every turn to confirm you are on the right track. Straight arrows and pink surveyors tape will be located on straight sections and at regular intervals on the track to confirm you are still running on the course. If you run for long sections without seeing pink surveyors tape, turn back! Red and white hazard tape and crosses will be used to close-off side tracks, or indicate areas where you should not enter. If you run past a cross (wrong way sign), you are on the wrong track. Turn back immediately! Course Split Points There is one split point where the 21km and 28km course distances divert from each other. This split point is located approximately 21km into the run, keep an eye out for the Event Marshall and Split Course Signage: Split Point Shared use trail South of WSU Parramatta South Campus. 21km runners turn right, back to the finish at the main oval 28km runners go straight on, towards Parramatta and Parramatta Park The Split point will be marked as follows: (Colour-coded according to your race number) 21km = Yellow Signage 28km = Red Signage Three Bridges Run Sun 4 th November 2018 Page 6
10. Feed Stations & Toilets There are three aid stations along the course. At the aid stations, runners will have access to the following: Unlimited quantities of water Tailwind Nutrition Selection of fresh fruit (i.e. bananas/oranges) Selection of lollies Distances to Feed Stations 28km runners will have access to four feed stations, at 4km, 8.5km, 17km & 24km 21km runners will have access to three feed stations, at 4km, 8.5km & 17km 8km runners will have access to one feed stations, at 4km Cups (for electrolyte and water) will be provided at all the feed stations. Public toilets are available along the course as well as at the Event Centre start/finish. There are no event specific port-a-loos at the Aid Stations. 11. Race Rules - First Aid - On Course Safety Race Rules For reasons of fairness, safety and responsibility you are expected to abide by the following rules. Remember, ignorance is no excuse and failure to comply may lead to penalties or disqualification. Show respect for the environment, landowners, local communities and other recreational users. Make sure you are wearing your race bib and attached timing tag. Always take your litter with you and please dispose of any litter in the bins provided. Stick to the marked roads/pathway, follow the course as signposted and as directed by the marshals. Notify the Event Medic of any significant medical history (e.g. asthma, diabetes ) before you start the event. No outside assistance is allowed during the event. Cooperate with event officials at all times. Winners will be determined by the fastest time. The Event Director s decision is final! You must report to the timing tent if you decide to withdraw from the event. If you are injured and not able to return to the event centre, please inform an event official on course. First Aid First Aid crews will be located at the event centre and out on course: If you need any first aid attention, see one of the event officials for assistance. Runners are expected to assist competitors who have injured themselves. If you come across an injured runner, provide assistance and ask a fellow runner to inform event officials at the next intersection. Times will be adjusted to compensate for any losses. We expect all runners to place the safety of fellow runners ahead of any personal achievements. Three Bridges Run Sun 4 th November 2018 Page 7
On Course Safety Please note you will be running on public paths and roads open to other traffic. Event officials will be present to assist at road junctions and crossings but it is still your responsibility to lookout for any pedestrians or vehicles. Stick to the left hand side of roads and paths in public areas. Please obey all event, road and directional signage and stick to the marked course at all times. Spectators are welcome at the start/finish and feed stations 1, 2 and 3. o Please remember no outside assistance is permitted during the event. 12. Food and Drink Piccolo Me Café on the university campus (Building EA) will be open from 6am to give you a pre run caffeine hit! For more information check out https://piccolome.com/ All runners will receive a free bottle of water at the Finish Line. A limited selection of fresh fruit and lollies will be available upon the completion of the event, but please be considerate of runners still to finish. 13. Bag Drop The safest place to leave your valuables is locked in your car. If you are coming via public transport, you will need to supply your own secure bag (no larger than a small back pack or hessian shopping bag). This bag should contain only the personal items that require at the finish line, not the whole kitchen sink! We will supply a bag tag for you to mark your name and race number on the tag and attached it to your bag. Give your bag in to the Bag Drop volunteer and collect after the race. We will not be responsible for individual pieces of clothing that go missing because it was not properly stowed i.e. in a secure bag. 14. 15. Results & Prizes Results Preliminary results will be available at the finish line. Full results will be available on the event website in the days following the event. Prizes and Medals - Prizes will be awarded to 1 st place getters in each category as well as 1 st place Male & Female overall in each distance event. - All competitors will receive a 2018 Three Bridges Run medal upon completion of the course. - Winners must be at the prize giving to receive their prize, nothing will be posted. - A short prize-giving presentation will be hosted at 10:00am, at the finish line. 16. Volunteers We still need a few more volunteer for this event. If your friends or partner are coming along to support you, why not ask them to volunteer. - Volunteers receive a free shirt and hat, a goodie bag to keep you going through the day and thanks of the staff and competitors. - Volunteers will assist with setup, registration, and marshalling on course, amongst a variety of other roles. 17. Event Cancellation In the unlikely case of an event cancellation, we will let you know by email and make the announcement on the home page of the website: www.threebridgesrun.com.au. All efforts will be made to reschedule the event. We will also make announcements on our social media pages: Facebook and Twitter Wet Weather Please note the event will not be cancelled due to rain unless the organisers deem the course to be unsafe for participants to run the course. All participants will be notified ASAP via all the mediums above. 18. Accommodation If you re looking for local accommodation the night before the event to save you travelling the morning of the event we recommend doing a simple Google search of the following suburbs for hotels/motels or other accommodation; Parramatta North Parramatta Rydalmere Rosehill Ermington Newington Meadowbank 19.
