SUMMONS The Surinaamse Zwem Bond (SZB) extends to you a cordial invitation to participate in the 2 nd Suriname Swimming Invitational Swimming Championships, the so called SS 2010 Invitational Swimming Championships, to be held in Suriname from July 15 July 17, 2010. Swimming pool: Course: Parima, Paramaribo, Suriname 6 lanes, 50 meter pool with electronic Colorado Timing. A. Rules FINA rules (most recent edition) will be in effect. For the SS 2010 Invitational Swimming Championships, the following age categories will be applicable: Age Groups - Individual Events - 8 & Under 9-10 11 12 13 14 15 & Over - Relays - 8 & Under 9-10 11 12 13 14 15 & Over The age of the swimmer on Midnight December 31 st 2009 will determine the age group in which the swimmer is eligible to swim. B. Format All events will be Timed Finals. C. Dates of Competition The Technical Meeting will be held at Club Oase in the Commewijnestraat 23 in Paramaribo at 10:00 am on Thursday, July 15, 2010.(if necessary) The Opening Ceremony will take place on Friday, July 16 th, starting at 5:00pm Session 1: Thursday, July 15 timed finals 4.00 pm Session 2: Friday, July 16 timed finals 5:00 pm Session 3: Saturday, July 17 timed finals 9:00 am Session 4: Saturday, July 17 timed finals 5:00 pm Coaches are requested to submit their scratches prior to each session. 2
D. Registration & Entries Swimmers must be sanctioned by their respective National Federations and be in good standing with their club and National Federation. Each participating team must present a Letter of Good Standing from their National Federation, sanctioning their participation. In May 2010 the order of events along with a HY-TEK TM file of the meet events will be sent to each of the invited clubs, in order to facilitate their entry process. All entries, including those for the relays, must be returned to the Organizing Committee by Friday, July 9, 2010, preferably in HY-TEK format, at the following address: Surinaamse Zwem Bond (Suriname Swimming Federation) Peter Bruneslaan 5 Paramaribo Suriname Email: vanderjagt@sr.net cc: schuiter@sr.net The following rules will apply to all entries: 1. A club may enter a maximum of four(4) swimmers per event. Only the first two (2) swimmers of each team will score points for their respective teams. 2. Each Club may enter a maximum of two(2) teams per relay event, however only one (1) will score points. 3. Swimmers of all age groups may participate in two(2) individual events plus one (1) relay event per session. The events for agegroup 8 & Under will be swum as 8 & Under, but medals,ribbons, points etc. will be awarded seperately in 6 & Under and 7-8 years. According to the rules of the event, swimmers of age group 8 & under are only allowed to swim the 50 meters events, the 4x 50 meter relay events, however swimmers of age 7 and 8 years old are also allowed to swim the 100 meter Freestyle event and the 200 meter Individual Medley event. Swimmers of age 6 years and younger are not allowed to swim the 50 meter Butterfly, the 100 meter Freestyle and the 200 meter Individual Medley. Also not the 50 meters Butterfly in relay events. Thus it is allowed to enter 4 swimmers 7-8 and 4 swimmers 6 & Under per event. However, please keep the restrictions in mind when entering swimmers in events. 4. Swimmers competing in relay events must be registered. Relay only swimmers will be accepted. 5. For an event to be held there should be at least one(1) participant or relay team. 3
E. Awards and scoring Medals and ribbons In individual - and relay events, medals will be awarded to the first three (3) places and ribbons from 4th to 6th place. Trophies The team scoring the highest overall number of points shall be declared the winning team and shall receive a trophy. Trophies will also be given to the 2 nd and 3 rd placed teams in the competition. Additionally there will be a trophy awarded to the highest point winners in each age group (male and female). Team trophies will be presented after the medals of the last event have been presented. Ribbons will be given to team delegates. Scoring Scoring shall be as follows: First Place - 7 points Second Place - 5 points Third Place - 4 points Fourth Place - 3 points Fifth Place - 2 points Sixth Place - 1 point Relays will be awarded double points. F. Entry fees Each club is responsible for payment of the following entry fees: o US$100.00 per club/team o US$ 2.50 for every individual participant, and o US$ 5.00 for each relay team. Entry fees should be paid prior to or during the technical meeting. G, Officials Overseas clubs are invited to submit the names of any qualified persons willing to serve as Timekeepers / Judges during the meet, along with their entries. Local teams are required to submit the names of at least 3 officials per session together with their entries. 4
H. Program The pool will be open for warm-up one and a half (1 ½) hours before each session. A warm-up schedule will be made and will be available at the technical meeting. I. Refreshments Food and drinks will be available on the premises, throughout the meet. J. Accommodation Each participating club is responsible for their own air transportation, visa and accommodation costs (hotel, meals and transportation). In February a list of hotels will be provided to help you in choosing a location. Also you will be informed further on transportation possibilities.
