LASA Age Groups Bringing home the medals! Friday 27 th February 2015 The LASA Age Groups kicked-off with the 800m and 1500m Long Distance swims at Braunstone Leisure Centre. Congratulations to the following girls who entered the 800m Freestyle and gained a Silver and Bronze medal in their age group; Alex West and Peta Jarvis. Congratulations to the boys who later took to the water and swam their 1500m Freestyle gaining a Gold, Silver and Bronze in their age group respectively, Will Bell, Bradley Capell and Sandy Jarvis. Further congratulations for William as he was also crowned the Junior County Champion and the Open County Champion. William also holds the new 1500 Junior County record holder bettering the existing record by 23 seconds. Saturday 7 th & Sunday 8 th March Loughborough University As the queues gathered outside in the glorious hot sunshine our swimmers were yet again getting themselves prepared for the events 400IM and 200m Freestyle at Loughborough University. We again saw some fantastic swims with three more medals gained in their age groups from William, Bradley and Bryony who gained Gold and Silver respectively. Some further PBs from our other swimmers during these events too PARENTS WARNING!! The kids are swimming fast do not place a too higher bid on their PB s. Saturday 21 st & Sunday 22 nd March Braunstone Leisure Centre A great start for another exciting weekend at Braunstone. In both sessions 7 & 8 our swimmers achieved many PBs and places in the top 3 in events 50m Breaststroke, 50m Butterfly, 100m Freestyle and 100m Back. Congratulations to Adam Wilkes, William Bell who gained Gold, Jack Melia who gained Gold and Silver and to Sam Hill and Mia Larke who both gained Bronze. Further congratulations goes to Olivia Morrison and Mia Larke who both achieved their Midlands Qualifying time in 50m Breaststroke and to Lucy Sharp who received a Gold medal in the Multi-Disability combined results. Sessions 9 & 10 were again filled with fantastic swims from all age groups taking part in 50m Backstroke, 50m Freestyle, 100m Butterfly and 100m Breaststroke. Congratulations to Adam Wilkes who gained Gold and Bronze, Jack Melia and William Bell who gained Gold and Silver, Sam Hill who gained Silver and Bronze, Alex Soler-Canto who gained a Silver and Mia Larke who also gained a Silver medal and to Lucy Sharp who received another Gold medal in the MD combined results.

During Session 10 the gala stopped for 15 minutes after the warm up to watch the procession of King Richard III go by along the Hinckley Road. Although the car drove by very quickly it was nice that the spectators/swimmers inside the pool didn t miss out on this historic event, thank you LASA Organisers. Well done to all swimmers who have taken part so far and especially to those younger swimmers if this is your first year of competing in the Age Groups you have all swam fantastically. Another mention should also go out to the parents for their continued help and support for LTSC. The help is very much appreciated as every club relies on volunteers to keep galas moving along. Please do not be afraid to volunteer; you are only a novice once, the next time you are a pro it s that easy. Although every care has gone into writing/checking results for the LASA updates, if we have missed any swimmers personal achievements e.g. gaining a Midlands qualifying time, medal etc please let someone know and we will include this into the April Newsletter which will have the remaining weekend of LASA included. Thank you. Gold 14 Silver 11 Bronze 8 Multi- Disability Combined Results Gold 2 Winter Leicester League Gala (Round 3) Reports from the A & B Team Managers: The A Team qualified for the final in 8th place so we knew it was going to be a tough evening. With Leicestershire's best swimmers on show, including the odd GB swimmer back from University, the competition proved to be a very exciting one. We had a couple of key swimmers missing in the 13 yrs age group, and so our 11 year old boys had to swim a few extra races in both the 13yrs and even 15yrs events. They did brilliantly as did the rest of the team. Several PBs were clocked up along the way and in the end we fought to gain an incredible 6th place on the night. In the League overall, the A- Team finished 7th - a fantastic result all round. Bryony Wilkes, A Team Manager Some A Team swimmers with the overall trophy 7 th place

Saturday 14th March saw Loughborough Town B team in action in the final round of the Leicestershire and District Winter League. Although finishing fifth on the evening and a few very unfortunate disqualifications, there was some great swims, seeing all the team putting in 100% effort. There were first places for Abbie Ruddle, Hannah Foxall, Bradley Capell, Alex West and the men's 4 X 50 relay team. Scarlett Pagett-Wright outing in a fantastic performance swimming up two age groups to finish second in the ladies open 100m breaststroke. Other good performances came from James Perrott, Conor Harrison and Rhiannon Finnerty. A big thank you to all poolside helpers and timekeepers - John, Sue and Fiona and also to the two team captains Alex West and Bradley Capell. I hope all swimmers continue to train hard and pay attention to their coaches through the summer and look forward to trying to improve on recent results in the Autumn League. As a competitive swimming club we are expected to compete in League Galas (as well as others) twice a year. Over three galas we as a club have to put out two teams (A and B) in the Leicester Winter League (we have just competed in), Arena League and Leicester Autumn Leagues, which take place on 10 th October, 14 th November and 12 th December. For these galas it is imperative that the club has two strong teams of swimmers in each age group competing for us to progress further up the Division ladder. If your child has been selected for the first round of the League galas (including the Diddy * 18 th April, 9 th May and 27 th June) then it is more than likely that they will be needed for the following two galas. To assist the Team Managers in team selection, if you are NOT available on any of these below or above dates, due to prior arrangements, please let them know ASAP so another child can take their place. All gala notifications will be coming through email from LTSC so please add to your address book. If at any time you are unsure of a date, please visit www.ltsc.org.uk > Club Calendar for all up to date information. * Diddy League - This normally runs April to June and is for Ages Groups 9, 10/u, 11/u and 12/u with age as at 30th June. Swim Club Manager (SCM) All swimmers and parent members should have access to the Swim Club Manager by now. Please log on and have a look and encourage your child(ren) to log on a regularly and they can even input their PBs and gauge how they are progressing. If you have lost your log-in details please speak with Fiona who can gladly reset your passwords etc.
