Welcome Letter Dear Team Manager, Congratulations to you and your team. The 16tU B ASA Western National is being held July 26-31 2016 and will be hosted by Southern California ASA. This tournament will be held in La Habra. Southern California ASA takes deep pride in hosting this event and will work very hard to make your experience the best it can be. The information in this packet should answer most of your questions regarding this tournament. Please read this packet carefully and, if you still have questions, give us a call or send us an email. Please remember that the deadline for entry in this tournament is July 20, 2016. We will contact you once your packet is received to confirm the information. 14U Class B Western Championship Important Information WEBSITE: FORMAT: UNIFORMS: LINE-UP FORMS: GAME TIMES: INFIELD PRACTICE: DUGOUTS: PLAYING RULES: CONDUCT: AWARDS: SOUVENIRS: The official tournament website is www.tournamentasa.com Pool Play Seeded Double Elimination All players must compete in accordance with Rule 3, Section 6, of the 2016 ASA Official Rules of Softball. Tournament officials will provide line-up forms for each team. Please follow the times listed on the official tournament bracket. Game time is forfeit time. Teams should be prepared to start a game immediateately after the proceeding game is completed. No field practice will be permitted. Warm-up is allowed in designated areas only. Players, Coaches, and a bat person are the only individuals allowed in the dugout. Home team and visiting team will be determined by a coin toss when line-ups are turned in. All playing rules and regulations for the tournament will be in accordance with the 2016 ASA Official Rules of Softball. Managers and coaches are asked to have complete control of their players both on and off the field. Any report of damages by hotel management will be dealt with by the tournament committee with article 206, Rules of Championship Play, Section K, Team Conduct. Team Trophies will be awarded for 1st - 4th Place Individual Awards will be awarded at 1st - 3rdPlace Souvenirs will be available throughout the week
TOURNAMENT ASA The 14u Class B ASA Western National website will be hosted on TournamentASA.com. Tournament ASA features include: Registration: All teams will enter the tournament by registering online at TournamentASA.com. Go to Southern California ASA Championship Play Section to locate tournament. Team List: The team list will be updated in real-time as teams register for the tournament. Facility Maps: Google Maps provided for the playing facilities. In addition, QR Codes are available to use with your smart phone to get park directions sent directly to your mobile device. Text Messaging: Sign-up online for text message updates throughout the tournament. This includes real -time scores, tournament updates, field changes, etc. This is perfect for families who do not travel with the team so they can stay up-to-date at home. Game Schedule: All Pool Play and Bracket Games will be displayed and updated at the conclusion of each game. Team Analysis: Click on other teams in the tournament to see their win/loss record, average runs scored, and complete team analysis. (Only available for teams who have played in a tournament using Tournament ASA.)

Gift Exchange Be prepared with a small gift to exchange with each member of the opposing team. (approx. 18 gifts). As is tradition at many National sporting events, there will be a gift exchange at the conclusion of each team s first pool play game. Please Please remember the Gift Exchange is a fun, memorable part of the tournament. Gift items should be inexpensive, but thoughtful. The gift should be a team decision, based on items the girls themselves would like to receive. It is a fun idea to have them put together gift bags or boxes as a team which creates some fun team bonding experiences. Some samples of past gifts we have seen: Gift Ideas Something representing the tournament, your team or your team s home area. Team Pins/Magnets/Stickers/Key Chain Gift Bag with useful items such as chap stick, hair ties, sunblock, eyeblack, etc. Personally decorated softball ornaments. Team craft projects of necklaces or headbands or hair bow in team colors. Healthy and yummy snacks.
Opening Ceremonies July 26th 6:00pm Parade of Teams will Start Promptly at 5:30pm. Teams are Welcome to Dress up in Funny Costumes, we will have a prize for the best dressed team, Dressing up is optional. Skills Contest is Immediately after Opening Ceremonies.
10U Class B ASA Western Championship ASA code and playing rules will apply with the following notes and exceptions: 1. Player uniform requirements shall be enforced as listed in the ASA code. 2. Teams must check in with the Tournament Director at the designated check-in times. 3. Game time is forfeit time. No grace period. 4. The Team Listed on the Top of the Bracket will occupy the third base dugout, except in back-to-back games played on the same field, in which case the team playing the consecutive game does not change dugouts. 5. Home team shall be determined by a coin toss at the ASA Tournament Desk; Managers must be at the Tent 30 minutes prior to their scheduled game, with their completed ASA Line up. Coaches not at the desk 30 minutes prior the flip will be done for you by ASA Tournament Staff. Exception in back to back games the coin flip will be done at Home Plate. 6. The tournament officials will supply one New game ball for each team and are the only softballs allowed in the tournament. 7. Infield practice allowed only in foul territory. 8. Playing rules protests will be settled prior to the next pitch. Illegal substitute or reentry will be made while they are in the game and before the umpires leave the field. 9. Eligibility protests: Will be settled according to ASA code. 10. Run ahead rule: 15 after 3, 12 after 4 and 8 after 5 innings. 11. Tie breaker rule begins in the eighth (8) inning or after time has expired. 12. Time limit: 1 hour & 40 minutes 13. Use of tobacco products are prohibited at JO tournaments. 14. No alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs are permitted on or near the fields including bleachers and spectator areas. 15. Umpires (during games) and/or tournament officials shall have the responsibility of ejecting coaches, players or spectators for abusive language or other acts that are contrary to the objectives and purposes of ASA. A warning for the first offense "MAY" be issued at the umpire's/officials discretion. The second offense by coaches or players shall result in ejection of the responsible individual(s) from the game. Second, and subsequent, offenses by a spectator shall result in ejection of (1) head coach, (2) coaching staff and (3) players. General Information 1. Coaches must visually display Proof of ASA Background Check and one must be ACE certified 2. The tournament will supply the official scorekeeper
