This will be the seventh meeting all-time between the two schools and the fi rst since 1995. Buckeye assistant coach Carrie Banks played four seasons for the Titans and is sixth in school history in both career steals and assists. Ohio State opened the season on Tuesday with a 71-47 setback to No. 22/21 USF. OSU is tasked with replacing all fi ve starters, its top-six point scorers and 93.3 percent of its total scoring from a season ago. The 93.3 percent is the highest total of any team in the country. Ohio State is one of just three teams in the country (Florida St. and Grand Canyon) that have to replace all fi ve starts from last year. Ohio State's 12 player roster boasts eight new faces including fi ve graduate transfers and vs. Record: 1-0 Conf: 0-0 HL HC: Bernard Scott three true freshmen. A total of six Buckeyes have already received their undergraduate degrees and are working in various masters programs this year. That is the highest number of graduates on one roster in the country. Point guard Carmen Grande has dished-out 699 assists over her fi rst three-plus seasons which are the most assists of any active player in the country, male or female. Grande was second in the country last season at 9.2 assists per game. Makayla Waterman is the only returning player who has started a game (1) but the fi ve graduate transfers have started a combined 348 games. Head coach Kevin McGuff is beginning his sixth season with the Buckeyes. He has led his teams to postseason play in 15 of his 16 years as a head coach.

Six of the team s 12 players have already received their undergraduate degrees and are in their fi fth year in school. The six players with undergraduate degrees are the most on one roster of any team in the country. Ohio State graduate Makayla Waterman (Psychology) is joined by graduate transfers Carmen Grande (mathematical science), Adreana Miller (international marketing), Najah Queenland (biology), Ashanti Abshaw (communications management) and Carly Santoro (communication disorders) are all work on their masters degrees this season. REPLACING A BUNCH OF SCORING Coming into this season, Ohio State is not only looking to replace all fi ve starters but 93.7 percent of its scoring from last season. That is the highest percentage of scoring lost by any team in the country. Kelsey Mitchell, the NCAA s No. 2 all-time leading scorer, accounted for a large part of that scoring at 24.3 points per game. The Buckeye starting fi ve last season averaged more points (74.8) than any starting fi ve in the country. However, four current Buckeyes averaged 10 or more points per game last season Abshaw (19.2 ppg), Grande (11.5), Miller (13.6 ppg) and Santoro (12.8 ppg). Carmen Grande averaged 11.5 points and was second in the country last year at 9.2 assists per game. SHE'S NOT SELFISH Graduate transfer Carmen Grande was second in the country last season with 9.2 assists per game. She has had 24 games of 10-plus assists in her career. Since 2005, Ohio State has had a player record 10 or more assists in a games just 24 times, matching Grande s total over her last three seasons. Her 699 total assists are more than any other active DI men s or women s player in the country. GRANDE ON LIEBERMAN PRESEASON WATCH LIST Point guard Carmen Grande was one of 20 players named to the Nancy Lieberman Preseason Watch List this season. Grande is the NCAA's active career assists leader with 697 and was second in the country a season ago at 9.2 assists per game. ABSHAW OUT FOR THE SEASON Graduate transfer Ashanti Abshaw suffered a torn ACL in practice on Oct. 21 and she will miss the 2018-19 season. Abshaw transferred to Ohio State this summer after playing at Cleveland State the last four seasons. She was a three-time All-Horizon League honoree and has averaged more than 17 points per game in her career. Abshaw completed her degree in communications management from Cleveland State last spring and is working on her master s degree in workforce development here at Ohio State. ROAD WARRIORS The Buckeyes will need to channel their inner road warrior as they will spend a number of nights in hotels this season. In the non-conference season alone, Ohio State will wrack up 11,254 fl ight miles which includes a pair of trips to the west coast and a December trip to Florida. With 5,858 fl ight miles scheduled for the conference games, the Buckeyes will travel a total of 17,112 miles for their 16 games away from home. The longest trip will be the weekend trip to the Bay Area to play Sacramento State and Stanford in mid-november. The trek to Washington to play the Huskies in December will be a second 2,000-plus mile trip and will be head coach Kevin McGuff s fi rst game against his former team. LONG BREAKS The Buckeyes have two unusually long breaks during the fi rst two months of the season, breaking for 11 days between games. The fi rst comes after a long two-game west coast swing, playing Sacramento State and Stanford. The Buckeyes will have a break after the game in Palo Alto and will be able to enjoy Thanksgiving week at home without a game for the fi rst time in 14 years before playing North Carolina in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge on Nov. 29. The second break occurs around fi nal exams and also comes on the heels of a trip to the west coast. After playing Washington on Dec. 5, the Buckeyes won t return to action until after exams on Dec. 16 against Florida. These breaks will come in handy for a new team looking to solidify itself heading into conference play. The B1G schedule was expanded from 16 to 18 games this season and the Buckeyes bye week doesn t come until the fi nal week of the regular season. 3

The Titans were picked to fi nish ninth in the 2018-19 Horizon League Preseason Poll. SERIES HISTORY VS. DETROIT MERCY The teams have met six times previously and have split those meetings 3-3. The teams have not played since Ohio State s 94-75 victory in Columbus on Dec. 17, 1995. The Titans won the fi rst three meetings in 1979 and two games during the 1981 season. The Buckeyes then won twice in 1982 and then again in 1995. WHO ARE YOU ROOTING FOR COACH? Friday s game will pose a bit of a confl ict for Ohio State assistant coach Carrie Banks as she will be facing her alma mater. Banks was a four-year letter winner at Detroit from 1996-2000. She helped lead the Titans to 66 wins and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament her freshman season. Banks led the team during her senior year in points (12.3 ppg), assist (157), steals (90) and was second in rebounds (5.6 rpg). The Delaware, Ohio native also ranks sixth in school history in both career assists (382) and steals (219). LAST TIME OUT #22/21 USF 71 Ohio State 47 Tuesday, Nov. 6 at Value City Arena RECAPPING THE USF GAME Graduate Carly Santoro scored 14 points in her Ohio State debut and freshman Dorka Juhász notched a double-double in her fi rst collegiate game as the Buckeyes fell in the season-opener 71-47 to No. 22 USF. Santoro scored eight of her 14 points in the third quarter as she was 5-of-8 from the fl oor and had three rebounds. Juhász scored 10 points and grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds. Najah Queenland chipped-in with six points on 2-of-3 shooting. Freshman Aaliyah Patty scored four points, grabbed three rebounds, had three steals and blocked a pair of shots in her collegiate debut. USF s All-American candidate Kitija Laksa and Beatriz Jordao each scored a game-high 17 points as the Bulls held a 48-32 edge on the glass and outscored the Buckeyes 15-5 in second chance points. With eight new faces on its roster, the Buckeyes struggled to fi nd a groove offensively, shooting just 29 percent from the fl oor. USF wasn t much better at 36.8 percent but the rebounding advantage and free throw shooting (24-of-29) helped the Bulls pull away for the season-opening win. MOST BIG TEN CHAMPIONSHIPS Last season, the Buckeyes won their 16th Big Ten championship and their fi rst outright title since 2010. Coupled with a title in 2016-17, it marked the fi rst time the Buckeyes had won back-to-back titles since winning six-straight crowns from 2005-10. Ohio State's 16 Big Ten titles is tops in the conference. No other team in the conference has won more than nine championships.
