He ll counter BayBears righty Mike Lee (6-4, 4.22). LAST TIME OUT: Zach Borenstein went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI to lead the Mobile BayBears to a 5-1 victory over the Mississippi Braves Saturday at Trustmark Park. Mississippi (14-9, 53-39) scored one run on five hits while Mobile (14-9, 56-36) plated five runs on 12 hits. While Borenstein led the BayBears at the plate, Sean Jamieson, Tom Belza and Steve Rodriguez each added two hits. The BayBears took a 1-0 lead in the second. Borenstein singled and Ryan Court was hit by a pitch to start the inning. A wild pitch allowed both runners to advance. Evan Marzilli followed with a sacrifice fly to plate Borenstein and put the BayBears out front. Mississippi responded in the bottom of the frame. Kyle Kubitza doubled and scored on Daniel Castro s single to center field, tying the game at 1-1. Belza led off the third with a single to center. He took second on a wild pitch before coming in to score on Borenstein s base hit to center, giving the BayBears a 2-1 lead. Jamieson and Belza both singled to start the seventh. Jake Lamb followed with a RBI-double to left, extending the BayBears lead to 3-1. Mobile made it a 5-1 game in the ninth. Todd Glaesmann led off with a double to left field. He took third on a wild pitch before Borenstein delivered a triple to deep center, plating Glaesmann and Ryan Court followed with a sacrifice fly to drove home Borenstein. Archie Bradley (1-0) tossed 5.2 innings and limited the Braves to just one earned run on three hits and four walks. Bradley struck out five batters to notch the win. Williams Perez (3-5) took the loss, giving up two earned runs on five hits and a walk. He struck out four in five innings pitched. LEAGUE LEADERS: Cedric Hunter enters this series with the fifth-best batting average in the Southern League,.313. Kyle Kubitza sits sixth with a.309 average. Williams Perez ranks third with a 2.59 ERA. Perez ranks third with a 1.16 WHIP. Kyle Kubitza ranks fifth in OBP (.400) and Hunter ranks fourth in slugging (.523). Seth Loman also ranks fourth in RBI (53). As a team, the M-Braves offense ranks first with a.269 batting average while the pitching staff ranks third with a 3.59 ERA. CAREER LEADERS: Mycal Jones is chasing several M-Braves historical records. Jones has the following career numbers as an M-Brave: 311 games, 69 stolen bases, 1076 at bats, 58 doubles, 172 runs scored and 132 walks. Matt Young currently holds the following records: Games (311), Stolen Bases (73), Runs (164) and Walks (179). Willie Cabrera holds the other records: At-Bats (1134) & Doubles (69). after 7/11 JUNE LEADERS: Among those with significant playing time, Cedric Hunter and Kyle Kubitza led the M-Braves offensively with batting averages of.347 and.341, respectively. On the mound, Aaron Northcraft led the Braves starters with a 3.74 ERA in four starts while Chasen Shreve led relievers with a 2.03 ERA in 10 outings. Mitch Atkins recorded the most strikeouts, 26 K s in 28 innings pitched. Mycal Jones stole a team high eight bases during the month of June. DRIVING IN RUNS: M-Braves first baseman Seth Loman has driven in at least one run in nine consecutive games, June 21-29, breaking a record from the Double-A Braves inaugural season in Mississippi. The M-Braves previous record for most consecutive games with an RBI was originally set at eight games by Jeff Francoeur in 2005.
