Fixtures - a p l aning form, and some gauges - some of which you can make yourself IV. Materials - bamboo, ferrules, snake gu i des, silk thread, glue, varnish, sandpaper, steel wool, solvents, and rags. V. Space - a workbench or somep l ace to l ay out the job. VI. If you can, get a copy of the Garr i son book, borrow one. After you've read one or two of the roclmaking books, you'll probab l y be like I was and want al l of them you can find. In the last few months, I've noticed severa l more books on bamboo and cane rodmak i ng announced. so keep asking at your focal bookseller. I go to the Tattered Cover in Denver. It's a great bookstore. Check your l oca l l i brary: search the card catalog under lly rod, rodmaking, bamboo rods, fly f i shing and cane rodmaking. Search all of these categories because the llbrtary personne l don't a l ways make the best dec i sions about where to f i le this spec i al c l asstt i cation.
