We wish yu luck as yu cmpete fr individual and team hnrs. The fllwing guidelines have been established fr this year s state meet. Please take a mment t review this infrmatin with yur runners and caching staff as there are several site changes that impact the meet. The Tstrud Center Fieldhuse is the new lcatin fr Turnament Headquarters as well as the Team Headquarters. Yu can access the fieldhuse thrugh either Dr 5 (nrth side f building) r Dr 4 (west side f building). OPTIONAL PRE-MEET COURSE PREVIEW & TEAM REGISTRATION: FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 12:30 4:00 PM The pre-meet curse preview is OPTIONAL. Teams that participate in the pre-meet curse preview will be allwed t pick up race materials at the Turnament Infrmatin Center in the Tstrud Fieldhuse n Friday between the hurs f 12:30 4:00 p.m. Please nte that the race materials will nly be distributed t caches r a schl faculty member. The materials include: Wristbands fr Caches (2 Per Team/1-Per Cach f an Individual Runner) Parking Pass (1 Per Team) Cntestant Bibs and Hip Numbers Medical Cverage fr MSHSL Turnaments Turnament Evaluatin Frm Suvenir Prgrams and Bag Tags Certificates Teams that chse NOT t attend the pre-meet curse preview may pick up race materials and turn in their unifrm verificatin frms at the Turnament Infrmatin Center in the field huse n Saturday beginning at 8:00 am. RACE SCHEDULE Class AA Bys 10:00 a.m. Class A Bys 1:00 p.m. Class AA Girls 11:00 a.m. Class A Girls 2:00 p.m. Class AA award ceremny will be cnducted apprximately 30 minutes after the cmpletin f the last race. The rped-ff areas in the field huse are restricted t athletes, caches, and meet fficials. This rule will be strictly enfrced. Caches will be admitted in this area by wristband (enclsed in registratin packet). A cmpetitr s bib will get them in this area. Please nte: SPIKES ARE NOT ALLOWED IN THE FIELDHOUSE. We will set up a spike zne near dr 5 fr athletes t put n shes with spikes. N tents will be allwed in the fieldhuse.

The frm is lcated at the end f this dcument and must be submitted t meet fficials in the Turnament Infrmatin Center during the pre-meet curse preview n Friday r prir t each race n Saturday. DRESSING ROOMS. Participants must cme dressed in their running gear. The lcker rms at St. Olaf are nt available. Prtable restrms are available fr athletes t use. SCHOOL PARKING. Schls shuld plan t arrive at the site early t avid traffic delays and t btain parking in the lt(s) nearest the race curse. Yu must shw a turnament parking pass (included in yur registratin packet) t the parking attendant t gain access int the Skglund Athletic Cmplex parking lts. Spectatr Parking & Shuttle Service. Spectatr parking is available at fur remte parking lts at the sutheast end f St. Olaf campus. Large red signs will direct spectatrs t these lts. Shuttle service t and frm campus will be prvided frm 9:00 am t 5:00 pm n race day. The pickup and drp ff pints will be psted with large red Bus Stp signs. Please nte: Spectatr parking is nt allwed in any f the Skglund Athletic Center parking lts. DIRECTIONS TO ST. RACE INSTRUCTIONS Certified substitutins t the rster listed in the "fficial" prgram MUST be made 1-hur PRIOR t the start f the race (See Athletic Rules and Plicies Manual). Yu must reprt any substitutins t meet fficials wh are staffing the Turnament Infrmatin Center in the Tstrud fieldhuse. PLEASE INSTRUCT YOUR RUNNERS: UNIFORMS. The unifrm rule will be strictly enfrced. Please review the Unifrm Rule Emphasis psted n the Caches Clipbard. SHOES/SPIKES. Each cntestant must wear shes. The use f slippers r scks des nt meet the requirements f this rule. Spikes cannt be any mre than ne (1) inch in length. REMEMBER: spikes are nt allwed in the fieldhuse. A spike zne is set up near dr 5. CONTESTANT BIBS WITH TRANSPONDER CHIPS. Each cmpetitr (including individual qualifiers) must wear the assigned unaltered cntestant bib with transpnder chips. The bibs must be securely pinned n the FRONT f the cntestant's unifrm tp. Sufficient pins are prvided t allw fur (4) pins per bib. Please remind yur athletes NOT t crumble their bibs as this may negatively affect the transpnder chip. Hip Numbers. Three (3) hip numbers will be issued t bth team and individual qualifiers and must be wrn n each hip and upper left shulder. The hip numbers will crrespnd with each cmpetitr start bx. 5K RACE COURSE fr bth girls and bys will be set up entirely n campus. The curse will be marked with bundary white lines and shall be cntinuus thrughut the entire length f the curse, clearly designating bth the inside and utside bundaries. The start/finish line will be lcated adjacent Tstrud Fieldhuse Center. Please nte that the Prairie Lp is ff limits t caches and spectatrs (See restricted area n curse map).

Starting Bx Assignments. Starting bx assignments fr teams and individual runners are randmly drawn. This infrmatin is psted n the MSHSL web site n the Crss Cuntry activity page and the Caches Clipbard. (See Schedule and Lane Assignments). Starting Bx 1 is always n yur left as yu stand behind the starting line. Please nte: There are eight starting bxes fr individual qualifiers. Each sectin has been assigned t a specific start bx. STARTING POSITIONS. All runners shuld reprt t their assigned start bx fr check-in with the Clerk f Curse TWENTY (20) MINUTES BEFORE the start f the race. Clerks f Start have been assigned t each bx and will check cntestants fr prper unifrm, bibs, and hip numbers. STARTING PROCEDURES. Visual Start With a Time Cuntdwn Prcedures with Annuncements 1. Twenty (20) minutes t race start time. TEAMS and INDIVIDUALS are required t reprt t the starting line fr clerking. 2. Ten (10) minutes t race time. Runners are reminded t make sure that they are in cmpliance with the unifrm rules. 3. Five (5) minutes t race time. All NON-COMPETITORS, including caches, are instructed t clear the starting area. 4. Three (3) minutes t race time. ATHLETES are allwed t cntinue preparatin fr the race in frnt f their wn alley. 5. One (1) minute t race time. NO MORE RUN OUTS. Runners are t line up three (3) meters behind the starting line and prepare fr the starter s Audi/Visual signals as described belw. 6. Thirty secnds t race time: Last verbal annuncement is made. The STARTER shall be a minimum 50 meters in frnt f the start line fr clear visibility t all cmpetitrs and the recall starters. Recall starters raise their white flags as a signal t the starter that they and the cmpetitrs are in psitin fr the start. The starter will hld the STARTING DEVICE and RED flag parallel t the grund and give ne lng blast f the WHISTLE. This is the signal fr the runners t step up t, but nt tuch the starting line and becme mtinless. NOTE: During the whistle, the Recall Starters (n platfrms at bth ends f the start line) will raise the WHITE FLAG until all runners are mtinless and nt tuching the line. 7. The starter slwly raises the starting device and red flag verhead. When all runners are set and mtinless and the RECALL STARTERS signal with a white flag, the starting device is fired (AUDIO) and at the same time, the RED FLAG is mtined dwnward (VISUAL) indicating the start f the race. P a g e 4 FINISH AREA CORRAL. A 21-ft wide pen crral area with tw mats will be used at the finish. Caches shuld infrm runners that they must crss the mats t be prperly timed. COACHES AND STUDENT MANAGERS must remain utside f the finish area. A designated caches area is set near the finish area. This area will be pliced. TIMING OF CONTESTANTS. Select times will be prvided at the 1600- and 3200-meter marks. Caches, student managers r ther schl persnnel are NOT ALLOWED ON THE COURSE DURING THE RACE. Anyne reading times at these r ther marks may cause a cntestant(s) t be disqualified (Rule 8, Sec. 7 Natinal Federatin Track and Field and Crss Cuntry Rules Bk). The times fr each cntestant wh cmpletes the race will be autmatically recrded at the finish line and included in the final meet results. It is nt necessary fr caches t time their cmpetitrs. Meet results will be psted n the League web site immediately after each race. COMPETITORS ON COURSE. Only cmpetitrs wh are entered in the race are t be n the curse during the cnduct f the race, i.e., cntestants in the girls' race are nt t be anywhere n the curse during the bys' race; and likewise, cntestants frm the bys' race are nt t be anywhere n the curse during the girls' race. Please advise yur athletes t remain n the curse if they find themselves in need f medical assistance. UNOFFICIAL POSTING OF ORDER OF FINISH. An unfficial psting f team and individual results will be psted n the result's bard(s) fr a 30-minute perid fllwing each race. The identificatin f cntestants will be by name, grade and numbers. OFFICIAL RESULTS f all fur (4) races will be psted n the League s web site immediately fllwing each race. Please nte that we will NO LONGER SELL results at the meet. Please share this infrmatin with yur fans. POST-MEET WARM-DOWN will NOT be permitted n the curse. AWARDS CEREMONY. A cmbined awards ceremny will be cnducted in the Skglund Athletic Center gymnasium fllwing each set f races. Awards will be presented as fllws: Trphies and medals t teams finishing in first, secnd and third place Medals t individuals finishing first thrugh tenth place Caches are required t have her/his team in the Skglund Gymnasium apprximately 30- minutes after the cnclusin f each set f races. Please instruct yur fans t enter the gym using the frnt entrance f Skglund Athletic Cmplex (nrth side f building). POST-RACE MEDIA INTERVIEWS. The tp three finishers f each race will be ushered t a designated area near the finish line fr media interviews. MSHSL media staff will manage this undertaking.
P a g e 5 GENERAL INFORMATION ADMISSION CHARGE. There is n admissin charge fr this meet. MEDICAL ASSISTANCE. Every cach is required t review the mem n medical cverage enclsed in the state packet. The turnament medical staff will be wearing "red" jackets that say "Crss Cuntry Medical Staff." They have been instructed t fllw these guidelines thrughut the turnament. A red and white medical tent will be set up near the finish area. Turnament physicians and trainers will be available t examine cmpetitrs and evaluate any cnditins that might ptentially threaten the health f the student-athlete. EMT s will be n site and will ride in a vehicle that will trail each race. Please advise yur athletes t remain n the curse if they find themselves in need f medical assistance. Other medical persnnel will be statined near the Prairie Lp as well as n the Sccer Fields. Ambulatry Care is als available n site. SPECTATORS ON COURSE. Instruct spectatrs frm yur schl t stay behind the fences in rder that all runners will have a fair pprtunity t d their best. Spectatr interference may result in disqualificatin f a team r individual. Please remind yur fans f the restricted curse area in and near the Prairie Lp. VIDEO TAPING POLICY. Parents f runners may videtape the state meet if: A. the tape is nt fr cmmercial use; and B. the camera is nt bstructing the view f thers and it is a hand held camera. Tripds and ther camera stands will nt be allwed int the meet. ALL-STATE CERTIFICATES. The caches assciatin will distribute All-State Certificates in the gymnasium immediately fllwing each award ceremny. GOOD LUCK!
