AGENDA ITEM ACTION TIMEFRAME Meeting Open Meeting opened 6:30pm 1. Welcome and Apologies/Introductions Regional Development Manager (RDM) welcomed everyone and made an acknowledgement of country. Apologies noted as above. Introduction of new Development Officer- Zoe Goodsell 2. Minutes from last meeting Janine Kennewell (Taree) asked for further information regarding the competition and court line markings for Fast 5. 3. Net ED RDM discussed new blended coaching course. Netball Australia has launched a two-part program for the Development Coaching Course. There is an online component through the learning portal on MyNetball, cost is $50. Face-to-face practical component cost is $60 ($110 in total) and must be completed within 12 months of completing the online course. Coaches will not receive their manual or accreditation until the face-to-face component has been completed. RDM invited all associations to apply to host the face-to-face component of the Development Course by contacting Jodi Rosenthal using the previous application process for such courses. RDM suggested combining association interests to increase number of participants. RDM discussed the availability of other free online courses such as General Principles and Select for Success - Team Selection courses. NetEd is in Nambucca on the 29 th and 30 th of April. RDM confirmed Saturday netball competition times from each association and suggested one session late afternoon and one early evening on the Saturday. On the Sunday, the coaching and umpiring presenters will be mentoring coaches and umpires at Regional League. RDM called for associations to choose topics to be presented at NetEd. Shohan (Participation Manager) for further information. associations calling for topic suggestions. 4. School Programs Zoe Goodsell (Regional Development Officer) will be looking after Schools Cup, Sporting Schools and Clinics. An email will be sent to each association when a clinic is being held in your area. If associations can provide flyers or other promotional material, Zoe flyer template to all associations..
will hand these out at local schools. Template flyers are on the website. Schools Cup starts in NC next week (Coffs Harbour). RDO will be in touch to organise someone to unlock the clubhouse, as well as to confirm canteen facilities (this includes predicted numbers to assist with catering). Umpiring at these events is an umpire your own policy at local days and a cross-over at the regional final. RDM suggested to post a message on each Associations Facebook calling for any spare umpires to help out schools who may need an emergency reserve. 5. Indigenous and Multicultural Player Subsidy The closing date is March 10, 2017. This is open to all players. Applicants must upload proof of Aboriginality or Disability, as well as provide evidence of financial hardship (e.g. Centrelink Statement). Confusion with the application process. RDM suggested the easiest and most efficient method is to allow Club officials to complete the forms on behalf of the applicant and use an (approved) association members name and number. 6. Regional League North Coast At present there are 7 teams registered for Division 1 and 6 teams registered for Division 2. Concerns with this have arisen as the Over 35 s teams may be disappointed in playing in ä division made predominantly of 17 s teams. Great Lakes and Woopi are going to take this information back to their 35 s teams and discuss whether or not they are fine to play or would like to withdrawal. They also have the option to appeal the grading. The competition will run with game on game off timing. No umpires have nominated to be badged, therefore full 15 minutes quarter games are not required. Concerns with heat, travel and length of the day were discussed. A vote was taken as to play each other once between the two rounds or to play each other twice between the two rounds. It was noted that there will be a bye in Division 1 and therefore some teams could be travelling long distances to potentially play only 2x half-hour games. Taree and Coffs Harbour voted to play all teams once. Nambucca, Woopi, Hastings, Great Lakes and Macleay voted to play each other twice. Round One-Coffs Harbour 2x 15 minute halves Division 1-7 games (incl, Bye) Division 2-5 games Round Two- Nambucca 2x 15 minute halves Division 1-7 games (incl, Bye) RDO to contact association to organise keys/canteen. RDO to email suggested Facebook post to all associations. Association members to check with Laura Abraham.
Division 2-5 games Finals Series- Hastings Valley 4x 15 minute quarters to keep consistency as this is the game format for State Cup (voted for by Great Lakes, Hastings, Woopi and Nambucca). Game one: 1 v 4 2 v 3 Game Two: Winner of 1 v 4 plays winner of 2 v 3. To assist Head of Regional Allocations Team, Kate Thornborough in allocating umpires, associations need to rank umpires. Two officials from each team need to be present. A scorer and timekeeper. 7. Affiliation and Membership Reminder that affiliation is due at the end of March. 8. Beyond the Court Project We are in the process of confirming associations that will be involved in the project for 2017. RDM explained that the outcomes will be driven more by the associations taking part in the program (i.e. setting their own goals). 9. My Netball Associations to encourage all clubs to run duplicate reports. All members must have a role in the association, not just registered to their individual club. If members have registered online themselves, this is usually when they do not have a role assigned to them. Must be amended for statistical purposes. Associations and their members are encouraged to download and use the MyNetball App. The draw for regional league will be updated on this. 10. General Business NCAS umpiring program is not going ahead in 2017. NCAS are keen for it to get off the ground in 2018. Associations asked to promote program and identify possible Head Umpire Coach throughout the 2017 season, to have ready to go for 2018. Any interest from up and coming umpires to umpiring at Australian Invitational Youth Games in July School Holidays, please forward names to Gill, or D Arcy at NCAS. Trainings are held in Coffs Harbour and Grafton and any coach is welcome to come and watch. Helen Miles (Hastings) suggested moving the North Coast Regional League competition to late in the year. This would make Associations to contact umpires convenors to rank umpires. RDO/RDM will notify associations of players/umpires involved in Regional League who are not registered for the 2017 season. For further discussion at
it a standalone event, not just preparation for State Championships. This would also allow for more senior carnivals, cooler temperatures for players and umpires and potentially more experience umpires. Planning meeting later in the year. 11. Next meeting Sunday 27th August, 2017 Macleay 10am 2pm. Planning Meeting; Macleay to supply lunch. Meeting Close Meeting closed 8:10pm
