The Dons earned their fi rst road victory of the season Thursday at Portland (57-54) before falling at defending league champion Gonzaga (54-42) in Spokane to fi nish at 1-2. Now San Francisco welcomes Bay Area rivals Santa Clara and Saint Mary s to The City this week. The Dons own a 5-4 slate on their home court and look to take advantage of their only home games until February 15. The Broncos enter the week on a roll after completing home sweep against Pepperdine (67-62) and Loyola Marymount (71-58) improving to 9-9, 3-2 in league action, while Saint Mary s fell to the Lions (68-62) before rebounding for a win against the Waves (58-54) to up its record to 8-10, 3-2. DONS SETTLE FOR PACIFIC NORTHWEST SPLIT: USF captured its fi rst road win of the season and fi rst since downing Pepperdine in a 84-81 double overtime win at Pepperdine last February 3 with a 57-54 victory at Portland last Thursday in the Chiles Center. After capturing their fi rst win in the Rose City since 2002, the Dons were unable to complete the third Pacifi c Northwest sweep, falling 54-42 at defending league champion Gonzaga. THIS GLASS IS HALF FULL AND HALF EMPTY: San Francisco ranks second in the West Coast Conference in scoring defense, allowing just 62.7 points per game, behind Saint Mary s at an even stingier 60.7. The Dons have allowed 60 or more points 11 times this season, but have given up more than 70 points just four times. Unfortunately for San Francisco, the team struggles offensively managing a league worst 57.9 points per game. DONS AND GAELS LIVE ON FOX SPORTS NET: USF makes its season television debut when it hosts Saint Mary s Sunday night at War Memorial Gym. The 7:00 PM contest will be carried live by Fox Sports Net with Glen Kuiper and Krista Blunk calling the action from their positions courtside.
