October 2014 Newsletter Pro's Corner Kevin Rhinehart, PGA Professional (270) 554-3025 / 556-5470 kevinrhinehart@bellsouth.net Greetings to the Membership, Special congratulations to all the members who represented Rolling Hills Country Club by participating in the Paxton Cup Matches and the Directors' Cup. The Directors' Cup continues to have outstanding support and proves to be very enjoyable to all. Congrats to Team Ihnen for their narrow victory in the inner club matches. The Paxton Cup was held September 26th and 27th at Rolling Hills Country Club. The results did not favor our team, but a great effort was given by all. I hope everyone enjoyed the competition and are looking forward to next year. Thanks for all efforts of Captain Greg Beale. Wooldridge Cup The Wooldridge Cup will be played October 4th and 5th at Paxton Park. Everyone is encouraged to come out and support the Rolling Hills Ladies' Cup Team. Brown Cup The Rolling Hills Seniors will play the Senior Matches on October 2nd and 3rd. The matches will begin at 10:30 each day at Paxton Park. All are invited to come out to support our Seniors. Please don t hesitate to contact me for any reason. All the best in golf, Kevin Rhinehart News from the Course The Fall season is upon us. Along with temperatures close to 90 degrees and a very dry forecast for the next 10 days. Seems more like summer? Anyhow, soon the leaves will begin to fall from the trees and little ghools and goblins will be knocking at your door. Football is in full swing, and the golf tournament season has finally come close to an end. The turf management staff has had a great season here at Rolling Hills. The golf course could not have been in much better condition all season. We have had numerous compliments from members and guests alike all season long on the golf course condition and the club as a whole. As for the News from the Golf Course: The Turf Management Staff will be performing greens aeration on September 30th and October 1st. As I write to you this morning, we have begun the process on the back nine holes and will continue on to the front today and will finish with the front nine holes on Wednesday. We will have to come back and topdress a second time on Thursday or Friday to get all of the holes filled to capacity. Please be patient with us during this time.

The staff will soon be removing trees from the course that are dead or that have been deemed to be a safety hazard. We continue to suffer the effects of the 2009 Ice Storm, losing more trees every year. Although the trees did not fall or die soon following the storm, the branches cracked, opening the bark to weather and insect damage. I would personally like to thank our staff for a job well done this golfing season. We had the best crew overall for the entire season that I can remember in my tenure as Golf Course Superintendent. Many projects, large and small were completed; daily conditioning of the golf course was done diligently and with quality as the focus. Please stop and say thanks to a staff member if you feel that they have done a great job this year. I have many people compliment me on the golf course, but I am only as strong as our team. Thank You!!!! David Farris, Golf Course Superintendent Board of Directors' Meeting The October meeting of the RHCC Board of Directors will be held on Monday, October 13th, at 6:00 PM at the Rolling Hills Clubhouse. All members are invited to attend. Board of Directors' Election MONDAY, OCTOBER 13TH - An election will be held on Monday, October 13th, to elect three Directors to the RHCC Board of Directors. Voting will be from Noon to 7:00 PM. One vote is permitted per Regular or Company membership. The top three vote getters will serve for three years on the Board of Directors. The five candidates nominated by the Nominating Committee are: Mark Denton, Bob Ezell, Mike Fagan, Steve Holmes and Tim Kopischke. Candidates have submitted a brief biography below. Please read each biography and place your vote on Monday, October 13th.

Mark Denton - I hold the position of Director of Business Development for Fred Weber, Inc. located in St. Louis, Mo. I have worked in the construction aggregates industry for over 27 years. My specific focus has been in sales, business development, surface mining and processing operations, aggregate transportation systems, and heavy civil project management. Throughout my professional career, I have held key management level positions with leading U.S. aggregate companies, namely Martin Marietta Materials, Oldcastle Materials, and Fred Weber, Inc. My wife Stephanie and I originally joined RHCC in 2000, where it remains not just a place to play golf but is part of our extended family. I have been on the board for the past three years serving on various committees and have been President for the past year. Bob Ezell - I serve as vice president of product management for CSI. In this role, I provide leadership for CSI s product innovations associated with such enterprise initiatives as core banking, business intelligence and mobile technology. I have nearly three decades of experience developing, launching and managing strategic technology solutions for financial institutions nationwide. During my career, I have held positions in account management, product marketing and product management, which allow me to specialize in integrating the user experience into new platforms. I am a past director and president of the Association for Financial Technology (AFT), board member of West Kentucky Community Scholarship Program and currently serve on the Business Intelligence Customer Advisory Council for SAP. I hold a bachelor of science and an MBA from Murray State University. I have been a member at Rolling Hills since 2002 and served on the board the past 3 years and served as Treasurer. We have one of the best values in this region, and our commitment is to continue to provide a wonderful experience for golfing and socializing with friends and family. I am proud of the many improvements we have made to the club over the years.

Mike Fagan - My name is Mike Fagan, and I have been a member of Rolling Hills Country Club for over 20 years. As a 30-year employee at Waymatic, Inc., I currently serve as Director of Finance and Technology. Additionally, I served as a US Army Transportation officer in Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Kuwait during the Gulf War. My wife, Tina, and I live in Paducah with our two children: Dylan (17) and Kylie (11). A lifelong golf enthusiast, I enjoy playing as often as possible at Rolling Hills Country Club. Membership at Rolling Hills Country Club has always been an outstanding value to my family. My family enjoys the many social and children s activities available at Rolling Hills. Albeit sparse at times, my moments on the golf course are always vastly enjoyable. The past 20 years have seen many positive changes and improvements at Rolling Hills Country Club. By our very nature, humans are often reluctant to embrace any change; but sustaining long-term quality and membership growth requires open-mindedness and a vision for gradual improvements. While there do not appear to be any major needs at this time, it is imperative that we cultivate and maintain a board full of vision and creative energy so we that may tackle any future issues head-on. Accordingly, I would like to serve on the RHCC Board of Directors to do my part to ensure our club continues to thrive, improve and provide a great value to all current and future members. Thank you in advance for your kind consideration and support. Steve Holmes Tim Kopischke - I am a Paducah area native and have been a loyal member of Rolling Hills for 10+ years. Over this time, I have been energetically involved in club activities and contributed my time and passion to several committees, club initiatives and countless events. I carry a long-established background in business and board proceedings. My highlighted experience includes charted tenure as the previous President of another area Country Club. I am a 30+ year employee of CSI. In the role, Director of Software Engineering, I share management and leadership responsibilities for the overall architectural design of CSI s software.

Academically, I studied Computer Science & Advanced Mathematics at Murray State University and am a graduate from the University of Kentucky. Oct 3rd - Baseball and Brats! It s Cards Night at RHCC!
