Michael Phelps, an American swimmer has been honored as the Most Decorated Olympian of All Time and Most Successful Athlete for four consecutive Olympics winning a total of 28 medals of which 23 are gold. In Rio 2016 he won five gold medals and one silver medal, this made him the record holder of individual with maximum gold medals (23) in Modern Olympics. US won the maximum medals and ranked at the top of medal winning countries. But it is fascinating to know that of the 121 medals (46 gold, 37 silver and 38 bronze) that the country bagged 18 medals were bagged by the athletes of Maryland. The 1936 Berlin Olympics (also known as the Nazi Olympics) was the first Olympic Games to ever be televised. Before the advent of television, sports fans had to make due with radio commentary. Rio Olympics 2016 is the first Olympics to be hosted in South America. Now, Africa is the only continent that has never hosted an Olympics Game. Interestingly, in Rio Olympics golf returned after 112 years and Rugby after 92 years. Jamaican Sprinter Usain Bolt has won nine gold medals in the Olympic Games. Holding multiple world records in Olympics, he is the only athlete to win gold medal in triple treble of 100, 200 and 4x100 meters running consecutively for last three Olympics.
