Mike Olt gave Pawtucket a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second with a solo home run off Scranton/Wilkes-Barre starter Josh Rogers. The blast sailed into the bullpen and was his fourth this season and the fifth by a PawSox player in the first three games of this series. Pawtucket added another run against Rogers in the fifth inning to double the lead. The southpaw walked Mike Ohlman before being lifted for reliever Anyelo Gomez, who threw two pitches before leaving with an injury, Jordan Betts singled off Cody Carroll to drive in Ohlman for a 2-0 advantage. Chandler Shepherd was strong at the start for Pawtucket, tossing seven scoreless innings. The righty entered having allowed 15 runs on 25 hits (.316 BAA) over his first 18.1 innings this season (7.36 ERA), but showed no signs of that Saturday night. Tyler Thornburg entered as a rehabber and tossed a scoreless 8th inning while regularly touching 95 MPH and southpaw Robby Scott contributed a 1-2-3 9th inning to notch his first save of the season. current roadtrip statistics SWB G AVG AB H R HR BB K SB Hitting 1.156 32 5 0 0 0 8 0 SWB W-L ERA IP H R ER BB K HR Pitching 0-1 2.25 8.0 6 2 2 6 10 1 New York Yankees (MLB) W 7-6 vs. Cleveland Indians Have won 14-of-last-15 // 23-10 (.697) *2 nd -Best Record in MLB/AL East Sonny Gray: 6.0 IP, 4 H, 2R/2ER, 7 K 4R Bottom of the 5 th inning aided by a pair of Francisco Lindor errors around the organization Trenton Thunder (AA) W 3-2 (10) vs. Harrisburg Senators Drew Ward: Game-tying HR for HBG with 2 outs in the top of the 9 th James Reeves: 2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 4 K *14.2IP, 7H (.140 BAA), 22K (13.5) First walkoff-win -- Gittens sac fly B10 news & notes JUSTUS FOR ALL: The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders will be sending a new arm to the mound Sunday afternoon in Pawtucket R.I. LHP Justus Sheffield is the No. 46 Prospect in all of Minor League Baseball and the No. 3 Prospect in the New York Yankees system before the season according to MLB Pipeline (INF Gleyber Torres, OF Estevan Florial). He impressed to start the season with Double-A Trenton- prompting his promotion- going 1-2 with a 2.25 ERA in 5G/5GS. Over 28.0 innings he allowed just 16 hits (.163 BAA), struck out 39 batters (12.5 K/9) but did walk 14 men (4.5 BB/9). HE LIND AN RBI SINGLE...: INF Adam Lind, a longtime MLB 1B/OF was added to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders roster prior to Friday s game against Pawtucket. He was summoned from the bench in the bottom of the 9th inning to pinch-hit for OF Zack Zehner and promptly lined and RBI single into center field to bring the RailRiders back to within a run. He was pinch-run for at first base by INF/OF L.J. Mazzilli who was stranded at second base as the tying run when the game came to a close. RIVALRY, TRIPLE-A STYLE: In several decades of the Pawtucket and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre franchises going toe-totoe, very little has been decided in the all-time series. Saturday night represents the 482 nd meeting between the two and SWB holds a slight 242-240 advantage following Saturday s 2-0 loss. A season ago the RailRiders overtook the PawSox in the series by winning 13 of the 18 matchups. AGGRESSIVELY TURNING THE PAGE: The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders finished the month of April with a 10-13 (.435) record. The last time the team finished April three games under.500 was in 2003 (.440) and the last time they had a win percentage that low after the first month of play was 20 years ago (1998: 8-12,.400). They have been off to a hot start to begin the month of May with a 3-2 record, with the three-game win streak to begin the month matching their longest winning streak of the season. TRIPLE-A DEBUT: INF Thairo Estrada made his Triple-A debut for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders April 30 th against the Buffalo Bisons, but is off to a slow start. The No. 9 prospect in the New York Yankees organization according to Baseball America is just 3-for-25 to begin his Triple-A career, but the three hits have driven in a combined three runs.
