2008 FAL Match Detail Course of Fire Boot Camp All boot camp firing will be at 100 yards. Stage 1: Shooter takes assigned position on the line. A one minute preparation period is allowed to organize gear and dry fire. From the standing position shooter inserts a magazine loaded with 10 rounds only in the rifle and fires ten rounds at a bullseye target (SR-1). Shooter then removes magazine, safeties rifle, shows clear to RO, then drops to sitting position. From the sitting position shooter inserts one magazine loaded with ten rounds and fires ten shots at a bullseye target (SR-1). Shooter then removes magazine, safeties rifle, shows clear to RO, and moves to prone position. From the prone position shooter inserts one magazine loaded with ten rounds and fires ten shots at a bullseye target (SR-1). Shooter then removes magazine, safeties rifle, and inserts empty chamber indicator. This course is shot in a 3 minute time limit. When cease fire is called you must cease fire and clear your rifle. Any shots fired after a cease fire will result in removal of the same number of hits from the target, lowest first. Scoring will be value of hits on SR-1 target with number of X ring hits used as tie breaker in case of tie. Fire and Movement Range will vary from contact to 100 yards. Stage requires?? rounds of ammunition MINIMUM. Shooter will be required to have at least four 20- round magazines in a pouch or pouches on the shooters person. Shooter will provide one unloaded magazine and 19 rounds of ammunition to the RO when presenting himself as prepared to shoot. Shooter begins at position 1 in the standing position. A one minute preparation period will be allowed. This stage will be timed. On the buzzer, shooter will move forward to the firing position and recover his rifle. Shooter will then engage all 24 targets on the 50 yard and 100 yard target stands. These targets need 1 hit each, overshoots are OK but will not score additional points. An induced malfunction will occur at this position, shooters must continue shooting with the magazine staged here until encountering the stoppage before changing magazines. Once the shooter has engaged all targets, the shooter will clear his rifle and move to position 2. Shooter must keep his muzzle pointed downrange and finger out of the trigger guard while moving. Failure to comply with these safety procedures will incur a procedural penalty. Multiple or serious infractions may also result in dismissal from the match/range. At position 2, shooter will load rifle, and fire to engage the 15 steel plates. Once the shooter has engaged the steel plates, the shooter will move to position 3. Shooter must keep his muzzle pointed downrange and finger out of the trigger guard while moving. Failure to comply with these safety procedures will incur a procedural penalty. Multiple or serious infractions may also result in dismissal from the match/range. Upon reaching position 3, shooter will engage Silhouette targets as they become visible. While moving through the shoot-house area the muzzle of the shooters rifle must remain flat and pointed downrange. Violations of the upper berm may incur procedural penalties. Breaking of the 180 or ND will result in disqualification. Once all shots have been fired, remove magazine and make the rifle safe. Scoring will be shot value of hits on silhouette targets and steel targets divided by the shooters time to complete the stage.

The rules General -no slings may be used during the Fire and Movement stage -no use of bipods (can be on the rifle, but cannot be used) Stock class -no optics -no free float tubes -no non-standard brakes -308 only -20 round mags only Optics -same as stock but allows optics Non-stock class -no restrictions -greater than 20 round magazines allowed Other items of note: - The target section will likely have an overall time limit this year. The target section of the match may require the shooter to change position. Because this will be occurring at the same time other shooters are shooting, additional safety is required. For this reason, shooters will need to show that their rifle is empty and clear before changing positions. While it is true many FALs exist with BHO that do not operate on empty magazines, use of a FAL without this feature may slow the shooter down as it will force the shooter to drop the magazine and manually cycle the bolt to show clear. Deal with it or get a proper BHO. -Bullseye targets may vary in size from less than 8-1/2 x 11 to over 2 feet in size and distances may vary from 20 yards to 100 yards. -Targets during the action shooting section will be standard modern IPSC, paper plates, or steel plates. White IPSC targets will indicate no-shoots. -You will need to be able to carry your ammo on your person. You will need 30 rounds for the target section and as much as 100 rounds for the action section. (The action COF is not finalized yet, but it will be as big as I can make it). -The action section will be score/time = factor. -The target section will be score only, but will have a maximum shooting time to be determined. -Shooters will be disqualified for the following: breaking the 180, negligent discharge, dropping their rifle, loading a rifle off the line, or any handling of a rifle in an unsafe manner. -Rifles will be Zip-tied at check-in if an approved ECI is not already present. No weapon shall have the Zip-tie or ECI removed until on the line and instructed to do so by the RO. Additional zip-ties will be provided. -There will be NO provisions for sighting in. -River Bend is a COLD range, no firearms other than FALs will be allowed on the range. -Only members may use the other ranges at RBGC. -There are basic camping locations at RBGC, and there are bathrooms as well as RV power hookups. There are no sewage facilities for RVs. Please contact me if you plan to camp or RV.
