ORANGE BALL COMP WINNERS Our sensational Orange ball comp has kicked off again for term 3, however in week one this term we had some unfinished business from term 2 due to rain. Our great group of players played some fantastic tennis all term and the finals day was no exception. In the end it was neck and neck between Bryson Stevens, who led for the first 6 weeks, and Jett Maguire who overtook Bryson with one week to play. In the end Jett had enough in the tank to take his first Orange Ball crown with Bryson the unluckiest of Runners-up after a great season and at his first attempt. A great season played by all and with even more players this time around, term 3 promises to be even better Orange ball winner and runner-up: Jett Maguire (right) and Bryson Stevens Orange Ball Legends!! 4
BETTER WITH AGE! Members of our ETI family, headed by Caloundra president Michelle Noffke took the courts of Mooloolaba under stunning skies to contest the Mooloolaba Veterans tournament in July. The tournament was especially strong and as such the tennis played was both fun and incredibly high. What wasn t so fun were the next few days with many hobbling bodies seen throughout Caloundra!! The highlight of the weekend was Paul Dening taking out the 40 and over singles event. Paul won a tie-break in what turned out to be the decisive set. In other results, Michael Poulos and Penny McGaughran won the 35 and over mixed doubles after saving match points against the second placed team. Michael also came runner-up in the 35 and over men s singles on count back and teamed with Matt Deverson to come runner-up in the 35 men s doubles where they had a match point in the final before being run down-ouch!! Well done to all our other players, Michelle, Jenny Marks, Frank Van Der Laan, Ben Alexander and Sandy Boucaut. We now set our sights on September and the Tewantin ITF vets. 5
