Buffalo Sabres: Head Coach and Player Bios Head Coach: Phil Housley Phil Housley is in his first season behind the bench for the Sabres after being named the 8th head coach in Buffalo s franchise history. The Hockey Hall of Famer and former Sabres defenseman is the seventh alumnus to serve as the team s head coach.
