Rules and Regulations Anti-Doping Rules is part of the Rules of Sport... Applies to all athletes i all sports in all countries... The purpose is to protect the clean athletes and foster clean and fair competition Responsibility You are responsible for: The substances found in your body fluids e.g. urine or blood sample If you test positive, although it has not been your intention to dope Not knowing the rules or the prohibited substances is no excuse!
Anti-Doping Rule Violations 1. Presence of a prohibited substance or metabolite in the sample 2. Use of attempted use of a prohibited substance or method 3. Refuse to provide the sample after notification 4. Whereabouts failures 5. Tampering with the doping control process 6. Possession of prohibited substances/methods 7. Trafficking of prohibited substances/methods 8. Administrating of prohibited substances or methods
Medication... Prohibited Substances can be found in some approved medications!... Always check your medication! If you are sick it is possible to apply for an Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE)
Therapeutic Use Exemption (requirements) a) The Prohibited Substance or Prohibited Method in question is needed to treat an acute or chronic medical condition a) The Therapeutic Use of the Prohibited Substance or Prohibited Method is highly unlikely to produce any additional enhancement of performance beyond what might be anticipated by a return to the Athlete s normal state a) There is no reasonable Therapeutic alternative to the Use of the Prohibited Substance or Prohibited Method. a) The necessity for the Use of the Prohibited Substance or Prohibited Method is not a consequence of the prior Use (without a TUE) of a substance or method which was prohibited at the time of such Use.
Dietary Supplements Not all supplements contain what is declared! Risk of non-declared doping substances Intake of dietary supplements is at your own risk! You are resposible if it results in a positive test! The degree of fault determines the sanction Best advice don t use them!

Doping Control Rights and Responsibilities If you are notified for a doping control, you must provide a sample/samples as required Identification (athlete and Doping Control Officer) Right to bring another person to support you Right to extend the doping control procedure in certain cases e.g. interview or medal ceremony Right to provide samples as requested (blood and/or urine) DCO and chaperone must be of the same gender as the athlete
Doping Control Sample Collection Procedure You must. Choose between sample equipment and handle your sample yourself Check that all numbers on equipment are the same Remove clothes for the DCO to be able to see the sample leaving the body Inform the DCO of medication and supplements taken within the last 7 days Note on the doping control form if any irregularities are observed Ask in case of questions!
Doping Control Coach and Medical Staff Help the Athlete! Make sure the athlete has a support person during the doping control Make sure the athlete is aware of the medication and supplements taken within the last seven days and if he/she has a TUEs Know the procedures REMEMBER... When the athlete signs the doping control form he/she also confirms that the information on the protocol is correct
